    • Not necessarily. I think that’s part of the reason they made sprite female. The probability of the actress growing in height is fairly small. Makeup, the wig, and a little CGI would keep her looking the same. Take Nick Fury for instance. He looks slightly older in every film. However, he looked extremely young and natural in Captain Marvel.

  • Why was Ikarus able to easily cut their spaceship in half with his eye beams yet he has difficulty killing the Deviants with it? Seems like they should be powerful enough to vaporize them with one shot. Same with Thena, her sword was able to easily slice that head deviant into pieces at the end but during the fighting earlier she isn’t able to one strike the deviants. Seems like there was inconsistency in power being applied for convenience sake in the movie.

    • We see that Sersi's powers were greatly increased once Tiamut started to emerge, this was evidenced by her turning a deviant into a tree and finally killing tiamut. This increase in strength I assume was gradual for everyone else too, starting as Tiamut awoke and ending once he died.

      @naimas8120@naimas81202 жыл бұрын
    • @John Doe Lmao that was an assumption you dimwit. He can fly but he cannot fly that fast for sure. It was spliced there to show that he managed to reach the sun to end his life. It doesn't mean that he was fast going there. It could've took him hours to get there. What video compression are you even talking about wtf. It is clear that you cannot show the whole thing of him flying to the sun in its entirety. That's just stupid. So it's just fitting to show that he went to the sun to die there.

They have the technology and mastery of the seas to _create_ civilization-ending tsunamis (which they've demonstrated in the comics), so they can probably stop them too. • Fun movie with mostly forgivable plotholes. Most serious plot problem is you just can't have a giant stone marble Celestial taking up a huge chunk of Earth's interior down to its core without massive problems for Earth: gravity upsets, destroyed iron core of Earth that creates the planet's protective electromagnetic field so we don't all fry to death from the sun's radiation... y'know, science stuff. Just that Celestial popping outta the ocean floor would've created massive tsunamis smashing every coastal city in the hemisphere. (Of course I get that they needed to show at least some of the Celestial for dramatic story-telling.) Equally big plot problem: If it only takes ONE populated planet to spawn a single Celestial who can then create an entire galaxy of new populated planets, and the only alternative is watching the universe slowly fade into death and darkness, then some rogue Eternals performing a Celestial-abortion are the biggest threat to the entire universe. Far greater than Thanos ever was or Kang could ever be. I ASSUME the writers have sketched out an improved plan for Celestial creation that doesn't involve mass genocide, and the Eternals' endgame will be to eventually shift Arishem's paradigm to that new method. Because otherwise, the Eternals are the GREATEST EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO THE ENTIRE MCU. By recruiting other Eternals to go rogue (which is where the Domo was headed at the end of the movie) and abort all new Celestial births, they'll literally doom the entire universe to extinction. (Apparently the currently existing Celestials are all outta new-galaxy-spinning juice.) Fair warning: MCU needs to tighten up their universe-building narrative QUICK before they write themselves into a blackhole of paradoxical plots. They're FIRST venture into time travel and multiverse-building is already showing major cracks in the foundations. For example: where are the Celestials in Loki's end-of-time scenario where He-Who-Remains is chilling? That dude is nothing compared to the Celestials. There's no way he outlived all of them to be the very last sentient being in existence. Speaking of which, now we've defined these genuine all-powerful creator/judge Gods as purely just farming humans for Celestial baby food. Joke's on anyone religious in the MCU who thought "God" gave a fuck. (Captain America makes a reference to a Judeo-Christian "God" in Avengers 1, and Star-Lord mentions Jesus in Infinity War.) In their reality, people are actually nothing but livestock. Thor is NOT defined as an actual god. They're very clear about that in the MCU. Asgardians are just another alien race who appeared to be gods to humans in medieval times because they were so advanced and long-lived. Celestials on the other hand... They created EVERYTHING. So they ARE the defined Gods of the MCU. Of course then you get into a chicken-egg paradox with Celestials and Planets and eventually have to introduce the One Above All as the Ultimate God of the MCU. Hope that whiteboard in the writer's room is crystal fuckin clear where they're going with all this, or else the entire MCU thread is gonna start unraveling pretty damn fast in the future. Once they cross the point of contradictory silliness beyond redemption, all their movies and TV shows will lose gravitas as meat for serious cultural discussion and most people will simply stop giving a fuck. Y'know... like exactly what happened to comic books.

    @neallong2480@neallong24802 жыл бұрын
    • But Galactus has no reason to show up on Earth now, the whole reason he "eats" planets is to prevent Celestials from being born, he is population control for the Celestials, as per the Earth X storyline, which is where the Celestial reproduction cycle comes from. • I think people forget about travel time even on earth. The entire end sequence at the volcano takes place in about 15 real time minutes. So even if we assume this is before Spiderman Far From Home (they never really make it clear when exactly the movie takes place), the only hero who could realistically get to the Indian Ocean would have been Captain Marvel, but only if 1) she was on earth and 2) that if she knew that there was a huge fight between powered people at the time, 3) she was notified before the 15 minutes were up and 4) she new the exact location, and then she could have gotten there in time. There's just no way Bucky, Falcon/new Cap (if he even is New Cap at this time), Spider-man, Ant-man, etc. are getting there. Even Dr. Strange needs to know the exact location he is traveling if he teleports, which probably puts Wong and Strange on the sidelines too.

The entire final battle in sokovia lasted maybe an hour at best. Makkari could make it in time to help, assuming she knew what was happening, but unlikely anyone else could make it in time, and Makkari wouldn't be able to do much on the ground when the city is in the clouds. Just saying, there IS a plausible explanation for why they didn't help against Ultron. But if you want to counter and tell me how the Eternals could possibly know about Sokovia and make it there in time to be useful, I'm all ears.

  • Some people have already pointed out that the green tablet Mekkari sought out is probably supposed to be the Emerald Tablet, which 1) has associations with the god Hermes/Mercury (who in the movie!verse lore were likely inspired by Mekkari herself) and 2) is supposed to contain the alchemical formula for the Philosopher's Stone, which creates an elixir for eternal life. BUT there's a third reason to include it imo: the Emerald Tablet is also supposed to contain the formula for transmuting other substances into gold. Tiamut appears to be gold (or golden, at least) and Sersi turns him to stone, the alchemical process happening in reverse there, so maybe it's just a funny little Easter egg. But maybe it's also a little plot seed that could somehow factor into the next Eternals movie (if there is one); like, now they might possibly have the formula to transmute Tiamut back to gold again.

  • Funnily enough a comic that came out like 4 weeks ago explained on how Thanos and Star Fox where even born. So this is how it went down. A’Lars (Thanos father) left earth after his “father” Kronos pretty much became a god leaving the eternals with no leader and to avoid starting a war between his “brother” Zuras after they were having a disagreement over something and A’Lars wanting to do experiments with the eternals. A’Lars went to Titan and met a female eternal named Sui San (thanos mother), the only survivor on Titan after a moon Dragon killed every eternal there, then he asked her do she want to help him create life by procreation, she agreed but in order for them to create life A’Lars called upon Kronos to help them. So he gave them the Quantum Bands which allowed them to mate and thus creating Eros who they named after their love for each other, and Thanos who they named after their triumph over death. Also A’Lars was able to repopulate Titan by creating new eternals through genetic engineering. The only difference between these eternals and the regular eternals is that Titan eternals can breed, and that all of them are basically scientists because of A’Lars, and for the regular eternals well they’re just stronger due to their exposure to cosmic energy. And what makes Thanos and Star Fox’s special from other eternals is that they have no weird programming like the regular eternals so basically they have free will to do anything they want, they can also have kids, along side the fact they are just as strong as the regular eternals if not stronger. Also it was revealed that A’Lars is a special eternal due to him always being destined to always deviate from his programming and do his own thing no matter how many times you erase his memories. And I know you’re probably sick of reading at this point but I can see the mcu following this same exact storyline, I mean the quantum realm already exist and the Quantum bands get their energy from there. Also Thanos did say that Titan became overpopulated which led to its down fall, and the only way that could happen if the eternals there could breed.

  • About Arishem taking only Sersi, Phastos and Kingo, maybe he only took them and didn't bother hunting down the others because they were the ones that cared most about earthlings. They seemed to be the most invested in living the life of a human and having experiences with other humans. If he's looking going to judge humans based on what the Eternals saw and experienced, those three would have the most data. Since the point in time the team split, Thena was isolated because of her condition, Druig stayed in a small community in the Amazon rain forest and Makkari was a hermit hiding in the Domo. Also, Sprite being human may mean that Arishem can no longer download her memories into the World Forge so no point in taking her either. A (possible) plot hole that wasn't mentioned is why would an Eternal be made with a deficiency. I can accept that Hollywood is trying to be more inclusive so having a deaf actress in the cast would make sense but if the Eternals are sent to a planet to wipe out Deviants, why "make" one that can't hear? Even the scene where Makkari says she can feel vibrations isn't really enough of a sell. Everyone can feel vibrations; that's how we hear. We "feel" vibrations that travel through the air and into our ears. Plus, being particularly attune to vibrations could just be a skill of anyone of them. As far as in universe logic, it just doesn't make sense.

It is said that the emerald tablets are only able to be read while in a certain state of mind. She is seen speed reading books and attempting to acquire knowledge. Why? I'm not sure but that was her ENTIRE identity. It seemed like she was a thief of rare goods, but she was a collector or rare knowledge. So it's somewhat correlating , but faster and it's more lucrative and widespread than comics ever could have been. • When it comes to the question about the rare deviant that absorbed the eternal powers, it was shared in the movie that the Deviants started to absorb/mimic the nature of the predators on the planet. So potentially, they always had the ability, they just never had the opportunity to absorb an eternal. Ajax being set up by Ikarus was their first kill of an eternal and thus their first opportunity to absorb an eternal which then modified the Deviant who absorbed her. They had already gained a pack mentality, so the eternal just boosted the one deviants mental prowess further. That is why it became more human like with each eternal it absorbed. Plus both the deviants and the eternal were created by the celestial. That knack of evolving from their kills pushed the deviants to be uncontrollable as the evolved past their original programming and then the eternal were brought in to correct that as they became the new predators of the humans they were supposed to pave the way for. The eternal were the corrective action to the first failed attempt to cultivate the planet.

Also, Sprite tries to kill Sersi in the final battle by stabbing her with a normal blade. So are they able to bleed and die like humans? If so, how do they not die to other things that would kill seemingly human like bodies like the g forces of being carried at incredible speed by Makkari or going into space without a suit? Also, if they are just a creation of the celestials like the deviants, do both deviants and eternals die the same way? How are the deviants dying to shotgun blasts and things falling on them and crushing them while the eternals survive much more lethal injuries but are injured by much less like a simple blade?

    @64lundyco@64lundyco2 жыл бұрын
    • They die just as deviants die not one deviant was killed by a shotgun they were simply bothered as hulk with bullets and missles they can be killed with the right amount of power its just there cosmic force within them gives them a amazing withstand against lots of powerful forces

      @amirp6604@amirp66042 жыл бұрын
    • And eternals are stronger than deviants that's why there are so many deviants and few eternals to keep the population under control or possible extinction as they believed them to be before Ikarus found them frozen

      @amirp6604@amirp66042 жыл бұрын
    • I think of the eternals like Vision. Synthetic beings which are very high durable (can be thrown around etc.) But still have weaknesses, like vision got stabbed in infinity war and he was heavily injured for the entire film because it affected his inner workings like an androids would. So unless healed/fixed the eternals would be very vulnerable and possibly die.

      @Natta44@Natta442 жыл бұрын
    • My theory is that they are really durable (que the scenes where Sersi got knocked into a house by the Deviant and Druig surviving from Ikaris laser beam). We have to understand that Athena's weapon is made of cosmic energy, so it's not surprising that she can wound them but they can definitely regenerate and I think that they had mentioned it before in a scene about the cosmic energy in their bodies regenerating them. They can't regenerate quickly though, so it was up to ajak to heal them quickly if they were to suffer severe injuries I think. They aren't just like Deviants though, they were created not entirely the same but for the same purpose. Not one Deviant died by shotguns and things falling down on them btw. As for the blade, I'm assuming you are referring to Sprite's blade. We have to understand that that blade is her weapon. It's not your everyday regular blade by a human blacksmith. It's an Eternal's weapon. It easily allowed Sprite to penetrate the skin of a Deviant. I would assume that it is made by a special material.

  • How did Sersi heal herself after turning Tiamut into stone? How was Ikaris and Sprite able to join the uni-mind at the end to help Sersi kill Tiamut if they didn't have the bracelet created by Phastos to do so?

    @laurirodriguez7777@laurirodriguez77772 жыл бұрын
    • Wasn't this explained in the film? Part of the emergence was a natural uni-mind with the emerging celestial. This is what allowed Sersi to tap in the celestials power and ultimately kill Tiamut, with some left over to make Sprite human. This would also allowed the eternals to survive a complete emergence.

  • 4:48 What was the green tablet Makkari was after?? It was the Emerald Tablet . The tablet says "That which is above is from that which is below, and that which is below is from that which is above," "The Earth carried it in her belly, and the Wind nourished it in her belly, as Earth which shall become Fire.". Does it sound familiar?

It is not the worst Marvel movie at all but it certainly is different from every other one so far and that meant that it would have been hard for the casual fans to take a liking to. Many elements worked well though so I liked it alot.

  • The "green tablet" Makkari was after is the emerald tablet of Hermes. It's a reference to an occult/alchemical document that apparently is from the Demigod Hermes Triamagestus in our world. That saying as above so below is from this apparent tablet it was just a reference to something in our world that we could relate to. It's quite a famous document the actual tablet doesn't exist but lots of people have done interpretations/translations of it like Isaac Newton. check it out sometime it was a fun little Easter egg they put in the movie for us

  • There's a celestial eliminating life in Guardians of The Galaxy with the power stone. Why would it do that if they need populations to nurture celestials?

    @6scar911@6scar9112 жыл бұрын
    • Because Celestials also have the role of judging planets to see whether they're worthy. Since a Celestial foetus requires conscious beings to feed it, presumably they don't want to feed their babies sour milk. If a planet is judged unworthy, it's scoured clean of life to start all over again and maybe get it right the next time.
