When I set out to design and build this outdoor bar, I knew I wanted durable materials that would stand up to the outdoor elements. I combined concrete for the bar top with corrugated metal and cedar for the base. The end result is a great looking outdoor bar with lots of storage for drinks and food to keep your outdoor gatherings going!
All of the materials and tools I used for the projects are linked below!
This project is sponsored by my friends at The Home Depot. From versatile buying options, tool rentals, and thousands of how-to videos, The Home Depot has the tool and materials you need to keep building and get more done.
Thank you so much for watching & I hope you enjoy the project!

Lmao yep everyone has everyone of those shop tools. Now for future references most of us have a drill, miter saw, circular saw screw driver, tape measure, hammer, router.
If I had a professional joiner, planar and table saw I probably wouldn't be watching your video. Guess Ill figure it out with my porter cable junk tools.
So much for building with out all the tools
My thoughts exactly 😅
Without all the tools!! You have all the tools you need. I can't make this one. I will have to look elsewhere. This is a nice bar.
Loved the cement counter top
Thank you! It's holding up great 😃
With out all the tools DUHHH
I got all excited too wth
Strike 3
I'm building this now and appreciate you putting together the plans for a nominal fee! Thank you for the design to make this project approachable!
Hey Bryce, Thank you so much for that. It was a fun build and I'm glad you're taking it on! Have fun 😀
That is a solid outdoor bar. That concrete top was probably a bear to put on. I never would have thought of using melamine as a form. Thanks for sharing Mr. Mike, and take care.
Thank you so much Timothy! The countertop was heavy. We got it on top with two people, but a third would have made the process much easier. The melamine did great! This was my first time using this method and it seemed pretty fool proof.
Bar came out looking killer!
Thank you sir!!!
This looks so good!!
Thank you!
Awesome job Mike!!! This is TOO COOL. Great build, fun to watch, I'm sure a lot of people will be making this project for some parties at home.
Thanks! It was a fun build for sure! 😃😃
Thank you! I’m going to attempt this build wit 2x12 redwood top.
Absolutely! I bet that'll look awesome👍🏻😃
Awesome build brother
Thank you very much! I'm thrilled with how it came together 😃😃
EXCELENTE!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
@@WoodshopMike to you 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Beaudiful. Brasil
Thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
The bar is awesome, and the video is a huge help in showing how it all comes together. Do you have any suggestions for an alternate top? Would a butcher block top work on a bar like this that's meant to be outside?
Thank you very much! I would avoid butcher block, it will almost certainly delaminate as they're typically manufactured with the intent of being used indoors. If you wanted a wood top, just use cedar or cypress planks. You could used PT pine for the entire project too I suppose.
👌
How is the metal held at the bottom?
Cabinet saw, 20" planer, 8 inch jointer, $500 miter saw. But somehow you an make this "without owning all the tools". But hey, at least you showed renting the concrete mixer from your sponsor.
You could get by using a circular saw with a guide like framing square or tablesaw to make these cuts. And a wheelbarrow or bucket or tote to mix the concrete. The planer is something I dont have but is useful. You could hand sand or get a hand planer of course too
Lol
Hello Mike i like the Concrert bar top want to make one but i want a Overhang to set bar stools do you have a plan for one
Thanks! I don't have plans for that in particular, just this bar. You can put rebar in the concrete to allow for the overhang though👍.
how long is this bar?
What blade did you use to cut the corrugated metal? Thanks for sharing this video!!!
Hey Mike! I use these blades :amzn.to/3RQh8GP Glad you like the video! 👍👍
Whats the bars length?
How many hours in labor did it take you probably? Looks great man! Enjoyed the video
It took a few days total.
Question, how do your bottles oh alcohol hold up , does the metal create a "hotbox" ?
Cold stuff stays in the cooler, everything else is alright 👍🏻👍🏻
Does the galvanized steel/metal get hot in the sun? Is there a product that I could spray on it so it doesn't get hot to the touch? Like rubberized truck bed liner spray?
Metal will certainly get hot in the summer, but then again so will the concrete countertop. Ours is setup at an outdoor area fairly close to a tree line, so even though we're in Georgia, it's never been too hot to eat/serve at.
@@WoodshopMike thanks so much !
What wood did you use to control rot?
I used cedar👍
There appears to be many tools used here. Not really sure what the heck he meant by that.
I thought you said with not a lot of tools those look like a lot of tools :/
What was the total cost to make this bar?
At the time it was a couple hundred
average cost for this build?
Roughly $400 if you also use cedar. If you wanted to save a bit you can get away with pine, but you'll want to use pressure treated or southern yellow and make sure to finish it well.
Thanks Mike. But I don't have this equipment ...so I guess the joke is on me cause you said you'd show us how to make this bar without all the equipment????
Totally get what you're saying, but since the video was sponsored to highlight the tool rentals available at Home Depot the point was that you can rent the tools you don't have. Maybe I shouldn't try to be so clever in the videos 🤷🤦🏽♂️ thanks for watching!
Would use granite instead. Concrete is completely overbearing.
Without owning all the tools!! R u kidding us on?
Probably referring to the bit where he mentions you can use tool rental from Home Depot
Exactly👍🏻👍🏻
Dude i dont have any of those tools😒
Where is the part where I don't need all these tools?
The point is that you can rent tools. Not that you don't need to use them at all.
@@WoodshopMike then you should say that. Because your average person might not know that. You imply that you don't need fancy tools to get this done and then you go and use a bunch of fancy tools.
I say that you don't have to own the tools and that your can rent what you don't own at Home Depot.
Taping tape measures together what in the actual f***
show how to build without all the tools....first step use 10k table saw....
Love your valuation of the old powermatic. Wish you'd commented before I sold it 🤷
Thanks for charging people to download the bar, guess what I can build a better one without the plans
You said with no tools. And you used every tool in a shop.
What I meant was that your didn't have to own the tools and that they could be rented. Thought I said that in the voice over, but maybe I didn't. It would indeed be difficult to make anything without tools... 🤷
This video is why dislikes should be visible
How is this stuff easy 90 tools in a shop this is not a DIY
'i'm going to show you how to make it without using all the tools.' Poceeds to use 'all the tools'. 0/10
The point was that you don't have to own the tools because you can rent them.
so much for your first statement... building a bar without needing all the fancy industrial tools.... no one has a planer or jointer... so you already lost everyone you told could build this without having a woodworking shop.... ugh....
the point was that you can rent the tools you don't own... But I also stated that you don't have to joint or plan the boards, I only did to square em up...
