  • Jack didn't have to die, but not for the reason people normally think regarding the driftwood. If you recall, earlier in the film Rose was put into one of the lifeboats, and she jumped through one of the promenade deck windows back onto the ship. Had she not done that he would have been able to make a solo attempt at surviving and his odds would have been markedly higher, he would have known Rose was safe, and he could have theoretically found the piece of driftwood to use himself. Then they could have met again on the Carpathia and lived happily ever after.

  • Jack was originally to be a marble stone sculpturing artist, but it was thought his tools and stones were to large to carry about the ship easily. So a compromise was made and Jack became a pencil sketch man instead. Rose would have been captured in stone. Raise the Titanic! The sequel coming soon! To a theatre near you.

You'll notice that with only Rose on it, she stays completely afloat, but if both of them had been on it, then it would have been pushed down enough to where the water would touch them, which would have killed them both very quickly. • "Based on the tragedy that spawned thousands of heartbreaking true stories comes this fake one." Thank you! Why did they feel the need to make up some half-baked Hollywood bullshit? They were making a movie about the Titanic--they had a literal shipload of real life love stories that ended tragically to pick from.

    @TheaterRaven@TheaterRaven7 жыл бұрын
    • Maybe because they didn't wanna misinterpret facts of someone. Even the family of the Officer Murdoch(one that shot himself in the movie) were upset with his portrayal in the film. At the end of the day, the film was showing everything that happened, but had a subplot of the Jack/Rose affair, etc. It doesn't make the movie any less enjoyable.

      @Cmackie311@Cmackie3117 жыл бұрын
    • Of course the film isn't less enjoyable with fictional elements, but it just strikes me as odd that they made a movie about such a famous historical event only to make their fictional elements the focal points. That'd be like telling the story of Anne Frank and making the real-life eight people in the attic side characters so you could focus on a fictional ninth one.

    • vyor2 "If she put that life jacket on the bottom" - You just don't do that: risk the life of a weaker person to have better chances for your own. It's not honorable. Add that you would rather die your self then to live without "her", and you know how that man worked, how i work, and probably how Adam worked since the beginning of time. Just remembered... that's why I didn't questioned the movie... because you have to know that "something", that it's just a "plausible myth" for "Mythbusters", to realize that the movie is consistent. . . . . . All this time... I was 10... I have loved... I got bruised... I still live.... Thank you Lord and God bless you!

  • This is actually a really really good movie. I saw it 3 times in the theater when it was out. And on VHS two tapes multiple times. And on Netflix. And I'd watch it again. And again. I could play My heart will go on on the piano in middle school and was extremely popular because of that. Everyone wanted me to play it again and again and again and I was super popular at dances because of it. So really, this one doesn't have a lot of room to make fun of. If only they made movies this good anymore. Amazing sound track, tear jerking story, great movie budget, real social issues.

  • I'm so tired of people saying, "They could have both fit on the board," or, "They could have at least taken turns." First of all: They couldn't have shared the board because, if you'll notice, it started to sink when Jack tried to climb onto it. Second of all: If they had taken turns, they both would have died from hypothermia. Seriously, people! *Think* about it. It's not that difficult to figure out! I say: If Rose had stayed on the lifeboat, like a *smart* person would have done, then Jack could have used that board and they *both* would have survived. But noooo! She had to be all dramatic and stupid.

    • Funny. Mythbusters did an episode on that. Requested by James Cameron himself. Turns out that the board wouldn't of been able to hold them both. Because of buoyancy. Unless a life jacket was tied onto the bottem. And Jack was probably worried he'd lose sight of Rose. It's pitch black in reality, so he couldn't see very well.
