  • Love your approach to the mechanicals but would offer this..... engines need to breathe so air intake check followed by fuel intake and the big one with diesels ....exhaust flow! Fluids next including all checks for leaks. Electrical checks are normally only when something fails to work so that you know where to start diagnosis. I think your ship has a lot to take care of but she is very beautiful and with your thoroughness should give many years of satisfying and enjoyable sailing. Keep up the great vids!

    • Great advice thank you….I have a good look around the engines each morning. Every time we start the engines we check down the back that we have exhaust flow from the wet exhaust.

The Turkish craftsmen are some of the best in the world. I think you are going to have great adventures in that yacht. The fact that you are very proud of her is quite obvious. HAPPY SAILING!

If you have to do this from above, it seems quite difficult to me. 1 tip for filming, perhaps it is an idea to buy a polarization filter for the lens. The filter increases contrast and helps you filter out reflections and glare. and you get even better videos because of it, they are even for sale for a drone. have fun and adventure. greetings from the Netherlands

Good thing you are a skinny dude though - some of those spots you are checking would be impossible for my well covered bones! I hope you are right with the shore and running costs decreasing as you head to Greece and onwards to Albania and Croatia - it's been my experience as a landlubber in the area that anywhere there's tourists, the prices are definitely inflated for anyone not local. Loving your commentary, the anecdotes and the calm temperament - I would have blown several gaskets by now.

  • Great video again, love the open and honest talks about the equipment. Just a question. Your bilge cannot be switched to a tank or to overboard ? With all that oil in the bilge indeed the last thing you want is for the bilge pump to be activated. We added a tank to the bilge hose, however, do keep in mind that you should be able to switch it to directly overboard, otherwise you will need a second pump, of the same capacity to pump it from the tank overboard in case you have a substantial leakage. and need to drain the boat. As for the Bimini, in Kos there is a company that can weld the frame for you for a very reasonable price. I had some work done by them in December and paid just 120 euro, good quality. My neighbor had a bimini frame made as well by them, done in about a week time. Turkey is indeed not the place to be. It was, 10 years ago, but since that time they have gone bananas. I sent you (via e-mail) the name of the guy who knows everyone in Kos, he can probably also find you the company that can supply the cloth. We'll probably be there around the 16th, can take you to the welding shop if need be. Hope the install of the water maker goes well. Good luck.

    • Sorry I do not agree not that I am an expert but we witnessed the care and attention that went into this boat. In the end it was one leaky pipe clip that did not leak leaving Istanbul and has not leaked since tightened. The stabiliser issue was with the manufacturer and Nordhavn/Telgeren the boat builder have done everything possible to rectify it. Any new boat needs tweaking, in fact every boat needs tweaking it’s what you do on a boat. We had a share in a boat a few years back and every trip there was something. We have had the last 10 days with nothing cropping up, everything running well and the boat handling perfect. Our videos are an open book we want to share the whole experience…good and bad! Thanks for taking the time to comment though it’s good to get all views.

  • if this is the finish product of Nordhavn boats, then i wont buy one these brand new, there should be some sort of quality control.. looks like they just commissioned and released, as long as it floating and the engine works, they dont do any triple checking on the small stuffs.. looks like a rushed work, like what happened to the AURORA N120.. no peace of mind for a the new owners.. but i wish you luck awanui NZ.. lovely boat.. just poor quality from the makers..

    • i am in the yacht business and i can tell you that i dont care who makes the boat, they all have small issues when they are new. boats are hand built and thats the way it is. you generally take delivery, use it for a bit and then come up with a punch list of items that need to be taken care of. the company takes care of it and then your on your way. its nothing liek buying a car. what you speak of with the 120 aurora and what you see on the internet about it isnt the real story. thats been totally twisted and edited to twist it all around. alot of illegal stuff went on by the original owner which i won't get into here.

    • Ok so the comment already posted sums it up. Nordhavn offer amazing support once you leave the build port. The message we got getting on the boat was use everything until something breaks. When the stabilisers went into port we went and all expenses covered by Nordhavn. They will likely claim from ABT but their first thought was to look after us. I know the story of the N120 in detail and absolutely more to it. The courts found in Nordhavn’s favour. Nordhavn owners are universally happy with their product. It’s a boat with so many moving parts. We want our videos to be open and honest…the good comes with the bad so once in a while we will report something not so good. Hull No.1 always has some teething issues, we know that as do Nordhavn…they are looking after us. Thanks for your comments though.
