Which is the superior all-electric pick-up truck - the Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, or Ford F-150 Lightning?
Well, Mat had a chance to all three of them, and we’re about to find out which he thinks is the must-have all-electric truck!
So let’s see how the three compare. Starting with the design, the Cybertruck is one of the most eye-catching vehicles on the road today - literally nothing looks similar to it! It’s made out of huge, tough aluminium body panels, and is covered in hard angles from the front to the rear that somehow make it look both retro and futuristic at the same time!
When it comes to the Rivian, it’s a super-stylish bit of kit. It has a relatively conventional pick-up truck look, but the addition of a cool light bar at the front really helps it stand out. The one we reviewed here also came equipped with an off-road pack that added several features and helped it look more rugged.
Then finally we have the F-150 Lightning. It certainly looks the most conventional of the three cars here, looking very similar to the conventional petrol-powered F-150! Still though, if the likes of the Cybertruck are a bit too wild, then the F-150 Lightning may be the choice for you.
All three cars come with pretty smart interiors. Both the Cybertruck and Rivian keep things simple, with a huge infotainment screen in each used to control nearly all functions. The Rivian does have one advantage over the Cybertruck, though, with a digital dial display in the usual position. The Ford F-150 Lightning has a few upgrades over the ICE version, such as the inclusion of the same screen as in the Mach-E. Otherwise, though, it continues to look very similar to the usual truck.
All three contenders come with a choice of batteries and motors. The range-topping Cybertruck, nicknamed the ‘Cyberbeast’, comes with three motors and a range of up to 320 miles. The dual-motor Rivian ‘Max’ should deliver up to 410 miles, and the top-of-the-range Ford F-150 comes with dual motors and a range of up to 320 miles.
The question is, which of these would you choose?! Let us know in the comments!

Disappointing videos, carwows really gone downhill fast
dang, shots fired@@Grabient
I wish this video was actually all 3 trucks together and not just a mashup of your past content of the 3 that I've already seen :(
I was looking for this comment I thought I was going crazy
Thumbs down 👎 Car Wow. Cheap trick
They actually should stop doing this
I hate these clips, they make the video look fake
Out of spec reviews has exactly the video you're looking for with these exact trucks
Im really not a fan of these old videos put together in one new. Do a proper comparrison with alle 3 together.
Comparison with all 3 Trucks should be better than this.
Carwow is just stitching old videos together nowadays
And videos targeting one market in one country only.
Lol does the guy look like some sort of God? He delivers that most of the time obviously dude couldn’t get all 3 in time. How about you get all three and do it
i was watching it and thinking "I've seen this before" - now i understand why
Too busy making drag race videos, which are fun but not good for the average drivers who want proper reviews with useful information like the old carwow. Miss them videos. Please start doing proper car reviews again.
Thanks for saving my time 😂
Why is this a compilation. This is just misleading. You know what people would’ve expected when they see a title like this.
Compilation from several other videos from June 2023 in fact.
Not another rerun Matt 😭
It's weird you know, how they can go from doing proper car comparisons with the physical car in hand to now never getting hands on cars. He reviews them even if they are a year old and mashes it up into a "new" video.
Matt with the 3rd rerun apparently.
So it was a compilation of some old videos!
3 videos in 1 apparently. Good value. 👌
Thanks to the other commenters for letting me know it's just a compilation of other videos.
wish i had read the comments first before i watched
Cybertruck looks like a topgear challenge.
Geoff was much better looking
Might be the best way I've heard the look described
Rivian hands down! The F150 is good value for money and a great all rounder. However for the extra money i think the Rivian is the best all round package. Also off road this has amazing cababilities. Check out Doug Demuro go up an all most impossible steep climb that neither the two could possibly dream of. I love the additional extras you can spec out the Rivian out in and having quad motor in 3 seconds to 60 is nuts for a truck! Cypertruck is different, i admire Elon thinking ouside rhe box but my money would be on the Riviran!
Rivian R1T for me is as fast as Renault Espace F1.
Rivian is wonderful in my opinion. Practical, fun, very quick. And I like the design of it the best.
Rivian has the best interior quality, for a $100k truck, no doubt. But cybertrack is superior in performance, tech, load capacity, and toughness.
@@angeloiv4965 I will have to agree on those fronts. I hope Rivian doesn't struggle because of this.
Not to mention Rivian has one thing NOBODY else has, and that is an SUV (R1S). I love the comparisons, but Rivian is miles ahead of the competition.
So basically the ford is the real electrified replacement for rams and f150s, the Rivian is the electrified Tacoma and the Tesla is the Tesla fan boys super fast box on wheels. Got it
not really tho
He literally just spent an hour telling you what’s good and bad about these vehicles and hasn’t mentioned any of what you just said 🤦🏻♂️. Have a day off will ya.
The Rivian may be similar in size to a Tacoma, but in utility it's just as capable. aka, payload/towing/range etc.
I’ve done a 900 mile trip in a Lightning. It’s a terrific vehicle, but really highlighted to me that electric isn’t always practical. We had to charge ten times due to cold and wind. For comparison I just did an almost identical trip in even worse conditions in my diesel V8 GMC and only stopped for fuel once
Do u drive 900mile everyday?...electric isn't for car trips just yet...but it definitely will get better
EV's are a scam.
Yup not practical if you intend to do any roadtrips beyond 50-70% of the range. Charging outside the home charger eliminates any cost savings.
@@Bahamuttiamatevery time your mother puts on makeup it's a scam. 🤷
@@TheMadmax0609 she doesn't wear make up.
Honestly if I had to pick as a Ford truck guy, it would be the Rivian. They are truly the only one that lived up to expectations
And the CyberTruck is the only one to exceed expectations(which were insanely high)
@@CHayes121 definitely did not get close to the range.
I'm a car guy and really don't like the looks, driving position, or any non-utility portions of trucks... but the Rivian is the first Truck or SUV that has made me say "Hmmm...." 😃
@@DL_1987 2 out of the 3 models did the only one that didnt was the tri motor. The dual was only supposed to have 300 it has 340. The single motor 250 has 300. The tri motor was supposed to have 500 but is 300... which granted is abit crap
Where was the breaking distance test for the CT ?
Is it just me or does anyone else miss the good old days when CARWOW compared all the vehicles side by side.
Wish carwow would stop doing this style of comparison video
Hopefully they stop combining these old videos and make them a usual proper drag races.
A new review of the Cyber Truck shows a HUGE potential lawsuit concerning the doors or rather lack of door handles and the potential of chopping off people's fingers.
I dont know how they arrived at the cybertruck being the most practical. Its a cool truck but not the most practical. The other two trucks had more practical features for both adventure and work.
yeah, I didn't understand that either. Panning away from the Lightnings huge Frunk with outlets to Teslas Tiny purse frunk and then saying Tesla wins. I was like. What? From everything mentioned on utility and practicality, I would put the CT dead last by a huge margin. Again, Not to say that CT did not deserve tops on other categories, just that one made me do a double take.
Because Matt owns a cybertruck.
because Carwow are taking thr Tesla money now.
Rivian can take my money all day every day,i love the design and its not trying too hard to break any records.its just genuine honesly and simply doing what i want,if it hand a hybrid system with atleast 130kw petrol system on top of maybe 200kw output electric it would sell like hotcakes in my country
don't they make a huge loss on every car sold - this is normal during a growth period but isn't sustainable . But agree it's a good looking vehicle if you can't handle the cybertruck
Carwow needs a second channel for compilations regularly posted, for example, once a week.
Which one can depreciate 50% the quickest? They’re all pretty fast in this race……😂
As soon as you buy one.
was gunna say, could pick these three junk heaps up for a tenner each out of warranty. Ford are garbage now too. Unreliable junk in this vid for sure

Definitely the Rivian for me.
The Cybertruck looks like something you find in a scrapyard.

And I love it! 😅
All three of them are dumb as a sack of hammers.
Cybertruck kinda as fast as Mercedes CLR imo.
But will be the last you'll ever find in a scrapyard.
Did you notice all the finger prints on the door of the Cyber Truck. This is why you don't make a stainless steel vehicle without paint. Stainless, may not rust, but it shows fingerprints and oil smudges like nothing else.
Agree- and you don't just say "it's supposed to look like that" to customers that can afford a supposed higher tier vehicle.
@@mattb9664 Just wrap your truck No need for paint on cybertruck
Um...You're more worried about fingerprints than it not rusting or denting or scratching or bullets or...????
@@ronin7645it's not bulletproof and rust hasn't been a problem for any car younger than 20 years for a good while now
@patriotbarrow I've actually seen videos where it's bulletproof from 9mm. My point is that it's much tougher and more durable than the other 2 trucks. It's made out of steel! It's pointless to debate it.
Just so you know, Baja means Down. Although Tesla thought it would be a good idea to raise suspension when you press Down. 🤷🏻♂️
Elon must love watching Mat reviewing his cars 😂. Welcome to Elon Matt show….😅
I wish that R1T was available in the UK, that thing is cool, loved it since the long way up.
16:03 Once my button has been properly pressed, my knob also retracts
Hilarious 😩
lol OHHHH we all know the reason ford made the retractable shifter
8:42 That tablet like car panel probably has more RAM than my computer 🤣. Such a smooth animation.
👀... after F150 Lightning got the conversion to use Tesla Superchargers, I'll go with the F150. The price is good, less bugs (if so), has everything a first time or average truck person needs, and PRICE! Used market is better for the F150 on Vroom, $60k-70k for extended range Lariat with no added dealership fees, and still under warranty.
Yes one T Mat, the Rivian looks the best, just like my Compas Yellow Rivian! Love it tremendously!
when they kicked the car, the looked like GTA NPC 😂😂
0 to 60 and quarter-mile times mean nothing to truck operations. Towing capacity is. Efficient operation is. How much can I haul and for what distance.
Whenever Matt decides to buy a car it is all of a sudden the greatest car in the world.
And as for the silly little square steering wheel, as far as I’m concerned, you can put it back on an early Allegro!!
Matt, this Cybertruck theme was good for one show, not repeated over and over, especially for a truck that can’t carry what a Ford Transit can.
Matt, choosing the superior all-electric pick-up truck among the Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, and Ford F-150 Lightning depends on various factors, each catering to different preferences and needs. Let's break it down: Design and Aesthetics: Tesla Cybertruck: Its unique, futuristic design with hard angles and tough aluminum body panels make it a standout. It's a choice for those who want a vehicle that looks distinct and avant-garde. Rivian R1T: This truck offers a blend of conventional pick-up looks with stylish elements like the front light bar. The off-road pack adds a rugged appeal. It's ideal for someone seeking a blend of traditional and modern design. Ford F-150 Lightning: With a design very similar to its petrol-powered counterpart, it appeals to those who prefer a classic, conventional pick-up truck look. Interior and Features: Both the Cybertruck and Rivian opt for minimalistic interiors with large infotainment screens. The Rivian has the added advantage of a digital dial display. The F-150 Lightning maintains a familiar interior style, with upgrades like the Mach-E screen, suitable for those who prefer a traditional truck interior with modern touches. Performance and Range: Cybertruck: The top model, the 'Cyberbeast', offers three motors and a range of up to 320 miles. Rivian R1T 'Max': It provides a superior range of up to 410 miles with dual motors, making it a strong contender for those prioritizing long-range capabilities. Ford F-150 Lightning: Also featuring dual motors, it matches the Cybertruck's range of up to 320 miles. In conclusion, your choice should be based on what you value most: If you're after a futuristic design and strong performance, the Tesla Cybertruck is a compelling choice. For a balance between traditional design and modern features, along with the best range, the Rivian R1T stands out. If conventional truck aesthetics with electric capabilities are your preference, the Ford F-150 Lightning is the way to go. Ultimately, it depends on your specific preferences for design, interior features, and range performance. Each truck has its unique strengths and caters to different aspects of the all-electric pick-up experience.
Numbers aside, we would like to see a head-to head comparison of these three electric trucks self-combusting- we need to know which one burns the hottest and is most difficult to extinguish.
The best one is the porsche 911 GT3 RS 991
booooring
What’s wrong with the 992 gen?
he's definetly 10 he just learned whats q Gt3 RS
Only to lose to a Tesla truck while being towed by a Tesla
It's the one I'd take but it's not really got anything to do with this though tbh.
I much prefer the Rivian R1T actually

I can’t imagine how much insurance coverage is for a Cybertruck just from a collision repair standpoint 😳
It will withstand most low-impact collisions without damage.

The problem with every single EV reduce clutter in the cabin by moving all the buttons to the screen, actually makes the vehicle more complicated and less intuitive to function!
If you own one and learn where the buttons are, it’s really not much worse than normal buttons. On a Tesla y at least I know you can hit buttons on and around the steering wheel and it will bring up all the settings on the screen for very easy access. Maybe two clicks 1. Turn on using the button, 2. Decide what level you want it. It’s just like using a modern phone or iPad. There are shortcuts you can pick out easily and there are obviously way more things you can do with a touch screen than with buttons only. If you love buttons then you don’t need to buy these cars, but know that it’s not worse and technically more functional. It’s all just what you get used to.

I'm really not a fan of these videos where you just cut together old existing reviews. Doesn't provide any additional value since some of the videos are years old and then really isn't much of an actual comparison.
The Lexus RZ450E was the first production vehicle to do steer by wire, Engineering Explained has a great video on why this is not a good system to use. Also the cyber truck's bed volume includes the stupid wedge shape, the actual area (the important thing in a truck) is 4% larger than the Rivian
15:59 steady Mat, glad you were able to find some features to redeem it 🙂
I´m impressed with the Lightning regarding its frunk. That´s a massive space, very useful and cleverly designed. Allows you to haul groceries while you still got some heavier stuff on the back. The Rivian is a surprise, until about a year ago I had never heard about this company - and they came in with a winner, a stylish and useful truck that can perform. ... and then there´s the Tesla. The quickest sci-fi tank I´ve ever seen, once again innovating - for better or worse - and doing things the Tesla way. An awesome vehicle for sure, Tesla once again shook the world with this creative approach.
I've been watching Carwow since 2016. I've been enjoying every video apart from recent videos. There's way too many drag race videos and now there's too many compiled reviews. I understand it's a cost effective method but I don't enjoy these videos. Apologies for the complaint but I miss the old Carwow days 😢😢😢
The Fords a worktruck, the Rivian is for people who like exploring and going literally anywhere, and the Cybertruck is for people who spend a lot of time trying to impress others. There, summerised it for ya.
And to think of all the great cars CT owners could have bought for $100K that are attractive, impressive, and enjoyable to drive, yet they bought a Tesla. Absolutely appalling.

Out of the three tested it's got the most practical interior
I've watched a few videos today of actual consumer cybertrucks being tested - towing, off-road, on-road. It's buggy and laughably behind the competition, besides the usual straight-line acceleration (one-trick pony). Beaten off-road by a basic Subaru Outback station wagon, losing plastic parts along the way. All that money and you still have to look to the side to see your speed. For me, it's also the ugliest of the trucks here and will not be for sale in many countries for safety reasons.
It's hideous
They also lied a lot in their hype. e.g. the supposed drag race between a Cybertruck towing a Porsche vs a Porsche was implied to be 1/4 mile but was actually 1/8 mile, presumably because the Porsche actually won the 1/4 mile race.

The Lightning has about 8-10 inches of ground clearance, due to the low hanging battery pack, among the direct drive motors on the axels. Not sure I'd want to take one of those off roading...and I'm not sure why this truck even exists other than to show that they can have an electric, commercial vehicle that is marketable to the American customers that think F150 and Silverado are Full-Size, while the rest of the world thinks Ranger and Colorado are Full Size.

Says the CyberTruck has the "first powered frunk of any car" but Rivian had one first.
The CyberTruck is NOT the first powered opening/closing frunk nor the largest…Ford Lightning IS…AND also has 360view cameras when backing up or forward unlike the CyberTruck. This is an awesomely convenient feature when reversing/forward or avoiding obstacles. 8:40 The tailgate on the Lightning also has powered closing AND opening where the CyberTruck only has powered opening tailgate.

obviously not its wafer thin junk steelalloy. Might stop an Airgun but any decent caliber is going right through both sides of that for fun.
A few notes, no mention of the bed geometry for the cyber truck really reduces usability. Also, how does the cyber truck have a more useful trunk than the much larger lightning with power and the below storage than can be used as a cooler like you made such a big deal about when it was in the rear? Finally, I could have missed but the lightning is actually full sized and can comfortably handle 5 people, which was the big reason I picked it over the Rivian. If I didn’t need the extra seat I would have probably gone with the Rivian.
Matt and the racing driver do a pretty funny double trouble.
Did you do the braking distance & time for the Tesla?
Can we make one thing clear Matt I love your videos, but I really don't like the mashup of different Videos. You started this thing but I wish you would have actually taken all three Trucks together.
