How to Teach Your Dog Not to Bark Humanely & Effectively: 3 Key Strategies to Stop Barking Now 🐶🚫
In this essential dog training video, we'll share 3 humane and effective strategies to help you teach your dog not to bark. We'll tackle common barking situations such as:
- Pushy "demand" barking during training 📣
- Barking when someone comes to the door or at things outside 🚪
- Barking while having alone time or in the crate 🐾
- Discover how to address the underlying reasons for your dog's barking, instead of just suppressing the symptom.
- We'll discuss the importance of exercise to manage excess energy, adjusting training methods, avoiding accidentally rewarding barking behavior, and understanding the reasons behind your dog's barking.

  • Our dog always barks at us when we try to watch tv so I tried the same tactic Zak uses when she's in the crate & he's talking to the camera. We turned on a show that we've seen before so it wasn't really one that we needed to hear & I kept the treats on the couch next to me where our dog couldn't get them. We started "watching" the show & every time he stopped barking, I quickly looked at him, said "yes, shhhh, quiet" and tossed him a treat. By the end of the 30 min episode he was laying quietly & not barking at all. We've continued practicing "shhhh, quiet" in other scenarios where he starts barking at us & he's doing great with almost no barking now. When he does start barking, he responds very well to our command for quiet & we're much less stressed, lol. Thanks for all the great videos, Zak! ^_^

  • The top thing I’ve learned it how QUICKLY you’re meant to reward the behaviour you want, giving little to no time for failure. Growing up it was always to wait and see if they genuinely understood, but with my new puppy I’ve been rewarding the behaviours I want to see as quickly as I can and I’m seeing amazing outcomes! She’s confused by the reward at first but catches on very quickly as to why she’s being rewarded.

    @cait7140@cait71403 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah same here. It's amazing how clever they are, they just don't have as long attention spans as we do and they live in the moment so if you're not quick they've already moved onto the next stimulus and action in their head. I got a 6 week old puppy and in 1 day I taught him his name and to always "come". It's amazing how quickly they learn when you listen to the advice of good dog trainers.

  • I really like Zak’s way of teaching. I agree that you have to train the dog’s thinking, not just deal with the behavior. I want a dog with lasting good behavior. For the first time in my life I have a dog who is difficult to calm down and therefore difficult to teach things like being quiet, settling down, not biting my hands when I dry her feet, and continued jumping up when she is told “Off.” She is very sweet and loving, but way too excitable in many situations. I plan to use Zak’s videos to help me teach her not to do these things. I don’t believe in hitting a dog or being rough with her to get her to obey, so Zak’s methods are wonderful. Thank you, Zak, for making your training lessons free so that everyone can have the chance to have a well-behaved dog without beating them into submission or yelling at them and scaring them into obeying. You truly care about everyone’s dogs.

  • Our Frenchie puppy LOVES your videos!!! Because he loves positive reinforcement and lots of treats! He is also very sensitive and even speaking sternly to him makes his ears droop and he looks so sad. POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT training is a perfect concept for him! I am sooooooo glad you are making videos for FREE - also I bought your new book based on the excellent, professional and entertaining videos. THANK YOU for providing inside-out training. This is so much better than the old training methods.

  • I REALLY love your videos!! It helps save ALOT of money on dog training classes and also lets me interact personally with my dog instead of having a teacher telling me what’s not to do and what to do. I also LOVE that you teach how to train without e-collars or chokers. I’m really appreciative of your videos. I have a dog that barks at my cats because he wants to smell and ply with them, he also barks outside when he wants to come in or when he hears people outside. He also barks when people ring or knock on the door. Your tricks have helped me train my dog.

I have some experience with exotic animals such as lizards and stuff but the way you teach and train makes it look so fun and rewarding. I definitely will start slow with Rover but I gotta say, I definitely think I found my career.

We are working with a dog trainer for basic training but I LOVE your videos and they help re-enforce what we're learning. (humans need to learn a lot when dog training!) Our dogs bark like crazy so this video is VERY helpful. My Maltipoo often goes to the treat spot in the kitchen and barks for a treat. We thought it was cute but not realize we were re-enforcing bad behavior! Going back to binge watching your videos!! Thanks for all you do Zak!

I'm training her to be a service dog for my social anxiety and the training starts with the basic tricks. She isn't the same as our other 2 dogs if you pushed their buts down they learned sit. I watched the video ofwhere you taught a goldendoodle to sit and lay and tried it with her and its worked perfectly! I have definitely followed you and will recommend this channel to friends and family!
