    • I think people who aren't very active have trouble imagining how much basic fitness and a good muscle to weight ratio matters for running at distances under 5 miles. Any relatively high-level athlete that has a decent muscle to weight ratio will average sub-6-minute miles. I was really annoyed to practice running for a year and have a friend who was a national level competitive swimmer and hates running outrun me by about 30 seconds in a 5k and they were barely winded. I made it in 18:10 and they did 17:36 though I can sprint faster over distances less than 400 meters.

    • @@tyrioncsgo6229 Many soldiers are gym rats, they can knock out 100+ pushups and 20+ pull-ups but running less than a 10 minute 1.5 miles knocks out 90% and getting under 9 minutes is top 5% or something like that if I remember the averages.

    • Just want to say that your run time was great! My daughter is on a middle school cross country team and they run 1.5 mile races. Your weren't much slower than the fastest girls on her team. My other daughter has been training in gymnastics for the past couple years, and she is getting pretty good. She has just started getting more into climbing and has been trying to do more pull-ups. As of yet, she can only do four consecutively. So all in all, I am impressed, and both my girls think you're awesome! We love your adventurous spirit and your sense of humor. As for tests, have you heard of the beep test? That would be hilarious to watch you and Magnus do that one. Basically you ran back an forth across a set distance and you have to make it back and forth before the beep goes off. I think the beeps get closer as time goes on and you have to go faster and faster. The goal is to beat the beep as many times as possible. I don't know if this makes sense. It's a fitness test that a lot of gym classes do in the US. I think it's done in other countries too?

You represent all of us! Thanks for keeping it real, Marte! Also, as a swim coach, Marte's strength on that swim was impressive. "Lifeguard" swimming with your head looking up and forward is one of the toughest body positions because it sinks your hips and creates so much drag. • I was in BUD/S class 209 in '96/'97 and something the followers need to remember is that this is the test to get accepted in to BUD/S, but the standards to graduate are MUCH, MUCH higher. Furthermore, the fitness test is the least of your worries while in BUD/S. It's a 6 month kick in the balls where you're on a constant physical, technical, mental, and emotional grind. Most athletes can survive a day or two of BUD/S, but it's the unrelenting day-in, day-out stress that gets people. Most classes lose half the students during Hell Week and another large chunk in Phase 2 during Pool Comp.

We'd wear the trunks until walking up to the starting boards, then take them off. Well, one day, at a local tournament, I forgot to take my trunks off before a 150m breast stroke heat started... My kid brain panicked because I knew how much they would slow me down and I would surely come in last. So I did the logical thing and shed them midway through the first lap... Swam with more conviction than I'd ever had before and came in 3rd. When I finished all the parents were dying laughing, my coach was fishing the trunks out of the pool with his big toe, and I got a friggin' DQ because I made an improper stroke kicking them off... Still think it was BS that I got disqualified for one improper stroke after providing such entertainment lol! It's one of those memories I wish I could view from someone else's perspective because it must have been pretty damn funny to witness.

Sit-ups - Hands must be placed on collarbones and elbows must touch within three inches from the top of the knees. • Then why not allow swimming on your back, just keep knees below water.this allows for less energy used on floating and more available for fast swimming.

    • Also efficiency, the side stroke consumes far less energy than the breast stroke and over larger distances is usually faster. Like a runner pacing themselves for a long run rather than sprinting.

  • I, for one, am glad to see Marte in these videos. It's helpful for me to remember that Magnus' level is not the norm. So I don't need to feel bad about myself.

  • We love Marte! Her enthusiasm is all of us, and even though she’s fitter than 90% of us it’s still good to see a normal human for comparison beside Magnus’ ridiculous abilities.

  • Well done to both. I wouldnt have watched to the very end, but I was enjoying the banter and fun ye were having together. I wouldnt choose to spend my KZhead time just to watch one guy doing exercises. Great job 👏👏👍
