  • One of several reasons why crocodilians survived the cataclysm that killed the dinosaurs.... they are great parents, they vocalized back and forth and thus know when the eggs are hatching, and the parents even stick around for a while during the young one's first weeks. And I agree.... the shot of the young one looking out from between the mom's teeth.... lets me really appreciate the size difference and also the gentle care of the adult female. This 75 year old lady loves reptiles !

    • The general scientific consensus is that birds and crocodilians are the last living archosaurs (a group of animals also containing the extinct dinosaurs and pterosaurs) and represent different branches of their evolutionary tree; crocodilians are more closely related to animals that lived before the first dinosaurs, and only adopted their modern appearance during the Cretaceous period. Birds, on the other hand, evolved from small feathered theropods during the Jurassic period and are thus direct descendants of dinosaurs.

    • Not true. In many species the mother will dip as soon as the eggs are laid, or eat her own offspring. Pigs are notorious for eating their own piglets, to the point where pig farmers will often separate the mother from her offspring until she has calmed down from any potential desire to eat them.

  • "And spy hatchling is still filming" It's a very important point to note indeed : it means the crocodile managed to pick up the camera contraption with her jaws... Without damaging the delicate circuitry, leading to it reaching the water while still being capable of recording what's going on around it.

  • Fun fact: Crocodiles and Alligators communicate to their children inside of the eggs! The mother speaks to them and the children responds back! It also has something to do with the syncing of the egg hatching, here's another fact, when the children get too big for the mouth, they just ride on her head. 🥰

    • Pryda-Z just have the money for the food and everything else will go good by itself. dont be afraid to have a crocodile as your "pet", see it as a part of your family, she or he will know that when you raise her or him. i mean, its not dangerous to let it sleep with you, no matter how old it gets. if you love it and she knows you are a good person with a good heart and soul, she will have no bad feelings about you. and also, animals dont see the world like humans, some things could be disrespectful and insulting to the animal (which isnt for humans). well, there are more things i would like to tell you, but yeah :P just get information from PROVEN and/or TRUSTFUL sources! you could be a life saver for that one crocodile. have a good life, cya

    • Spy hatchling was partially attached to the "egg" and wouldn't come "unstuck". So she was a bit more rough due to having handled the egg casting as well. She basically spat him out when she reached the water, since not being a real croc "he" wouldn't move.
