This one feels like I'm not down among the crowd but maybe upstairs, so I can hear everything but I don't have to be a part of it if I don't want to. It's so calming to imagine myself in that kind of arrangement.

  • I've been listening to this to put me to sleep and I've got a great scenario that I love to imagine. "I've come to this tavern/inn to rest from my travels and the chilly spring rain. The entire main room smells of pine, leather, fire smoke and freshly baked bread. It's warm and comforting the moment you walk through the door. My room is just beside the staircase so the muffled chatter and the clinking of glasses still filters up to my ears. Someone brings me up a beef stew with potatoes and half a loaf of that same bread I could smell baking downstairs; it's heavy and hearty and fills my stomach and warms my core. The fire lit in my room begins to lull me to sleep, the bed creaking and the blankets are hefty wool and a little bit scratchy. " Works every time. Zzzzzz

    @hypernova9499@hypernova94997 жыл бұрын
    • Carl Hitchins you're right. This kind of videos helps a lot. I don't know what's your problem, if your insomnia is a physical problem or just psychological one. But, talking in general, major of them are just physiological. I suffer sometimes of that. Like, if I just got to bed at 6 of the morning I would be thinking that it was late as fuck, and then I would get my biorhythm screw up. But, the moment I start care less about that thoughts, if I just go to bed at that time I rarely have those issues. Or it can also be bcz someone have something important do to in the next day and then get all stressed out.

    • @@mutoidliz2320 American here. We don't have pubs. We have TGIFs.I know a lot of pubs in other countries are owned by major breweries and some of them are fake pub atmosphere, but at least y'all have them. I'd kill for a friendly local with Guinness on tap and great meals. I spent time as a young kid in Europe and it's just not the same thing here. There's no sense of community, just common eating/ drinking places. Sure, you might have your local bar, or bar/restaurant, but it's a theme park atmosphere that always manages to feel hyped up like some event you need a ticket for, or just grimy and seedy. Not the calm, relaxed but lively local feeling of your local pub. It will never be the same thing. They even try to manufacture them over here. Feels touristy. Feels touristy because it is touristy. Have half a lager for me, will you?

  • Ahh what a nice evening here in 1350's England. Long live his highness King Edward III. Had a nice day here in the village, went to the blacksmiths to get my claymore repaired, then I stopped off at the bakers for a loaf of bread. Enjoyed the jousting tournament this afternoon, my favorite knight almost won today, but didn't quite win against Sir Joustalot. Still there's always the next tournament. Well now I'm having a nice quiet evening at the village tavern and having a nice ale in front of the fire. It's a pleasant rainy evening, and tomorrow I'm going hunting with the lads!

  • I'm going to take a turn at setting the scene. I've only just arrived in this village's tavern not two hours ago. I paid an extra silver for an upstairs room with a window facing the town square below, as I've always felt more comfort in being able to see the city streets in the early morning. The common room smells of fine, salted meats wafted together with the smoke from friendly traveler's pipes, and a sharp perfume of aged cheese is drifting from the cellar door to my right. As of now, I'm leaning back into a lovely leather armchair, my boots propped up on a table in front of me, steaming from the trek earlier today. I've got a good book, a pint of ale, and my pipe is filled with the best tabac from this side of the river. The people here are kind and lively, eager to share their tall tales. Luckily, my pen and paper are ready to jot down any stories I seem fit for re-telling, but for now, I'd rather let back and relax after a long day's journey. If you've got any tales of your travels, please, don't be shy to tell...

  • By far my favorite. I don't know what it is - the combination of the consistent unintelligible voices, fireplace crackles, clanging silverware and mugs, and the footsteps brings me an immense sense of calm, ease, and security. Maybe it has to do with the fact that when I hear non-hostile voices, I feel safe and less anxious, and therefore helps me concentrate on my work (except when I take a break to post a comment like this). Thanks for this wonderful video. It truly is life changing for me.

  • This reminds me of the old days. Back when I told the youngens about the Dragon of Bereg. Told'em how he first was seen and took his hold as the treasures keeper. I remember talking about the finest detail of his scales, how he had one missing tooth. I have never actually seen him of course. I heard one day he was killed by the Hunters from the North. They said they didn't leave one piece of him behind. Several men lost their lives to him, but they are honered in songs within the principality. Now of course, I wish I would have been one of these hunters. To look at the beautiful beast and die in the fight. But be remembered and leaving in honor. But it has all changed. Now that I have my own stories to tell, none of the youngens are left. Yes, for most people life is normal again, since the war has ended. But I can never return to who I was. Not after what I've seen. Not after what I've lost. Especially not after what I've done. Oh well. The mood of time. Who am I to understand the ways of the gods? All I know, is that I am now sitting here in the corner of this tavern. Enjoying a good mead. And that it is not long until I see'em all again. The youngens. Dad... Mirandra... Ahh, yes. I'm coming. Don't worry about me, my dear. Alvotan will lead me home. He'll bring me right to you. Not so long, my dear... not so long. // It was a weird feeling for me, who is young and ready for adventure, to watch this old man on the other side of the room making himself ready to leave this world. I could tell that he'll die on that bench in that very night. But I didn't intervene. I could read the relief. He's been awaiting this for a long time. I wonder who is waiting for him on the other side. And how they lost each other. I wonder wether he told stories to the younger boys as well, just like good ol' dim does to me and my brothers right now. Sleep well old man. Maybe you can tell me all your adventures, when I'm passing one day. I'd love to hear about it. Until then, I'm gonna listen to the ol' dim. He also might stumble across your way soon. Sleep well.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a tavern wench close and lock the doors with a creak. As she did, the local bards began to play a very specific melody. It caught my ear immediately, the strum of those strings, "And now the rains weep o'er his halls with no one there to hear... yes now the rains weep o'er his halls and not a soul to hear..."

It was found in the witch's house and it treats the subject of magic potions. On page 113 one can find the recipe for the Devil's beverage, which was given to a party of warriors returning from a battle in the forest of the Northern lands. The bitter tasting potion is said to help suppress pain. But I suspect it has deeper, darker powers. Ensiferum made a great a song about this story : One More Magic Potion

  • I was listening to this and it made me think of an idea for a short (or long) story... This is the first page. lmk what you think... It all started at a tavern in a small town off the coast. People were bustling and talking, trying to stay dry from the thunderstorm outside. Cards were being played. Old friends were laughing in a corner. A drunk is arguing with the bartender for one more drink, the bartender fervently telling the drunk to get lost. In walks a patron, though the term visitor was more like it. At first glance, it simply appears that the person is nothing more than someone who wandered in, looking for a drink or for trouble, whatever comes first. But there is something out of the ordinary, whether it be the cloak that is pulled down over their face a bit too far, the clothing materials that are a bit too fine for this small town, the skin that is slightly too pale, or the dagger poking out from the visitor’s belt. Whatever it may be, this was no ordinary patron at the tavern. The visitor didn’t order a drink, nor food. The visitor simply made their way across the hall, people quickly moving out of the visitor’s way. The visitor sat down at the far end of the hall, back towards the wall and eyes towards the door, all the while never revealing more than the barest part of their chin. People started to whisper, though not too loudly out of fear that the visitor might hear. The drunk at the counter, however, clearly did not get this unspoken message to not disturb the visitor. He stumbled over to the visitor and plopped his drunk self next to them. “Care to fetch me a drink there, lad?” The drunk slurred. “I’m just barely getting started!” The visitor turned to look at the drunk, revealing even more of their slightly-too-pale skin. The visitor stared for a moment, eyes still hidden, then turned back to the door without saying a word. The drunk began to get frustrated. “I said,” the drunk whispered harshly, getting close to the visitor’s ear. “Why don’t you fetch me a drink there, lad.” The drunk put his hand on the leg of the visitor. This was his first mistake. At inhuman speeds, the visitor grabbed their dagger and held it up to the drunk’s throat. The drunk released his grasp and staggered backwards before colliding with the wall. The visitor leaned in close to the drunk and lifted their head, meeting his eyes. The drunk could now make out the features of this mysterious visitor. The skin was too pale. The jawline was sharp. The lips were a pale pink. The nose was sharp and pointed. The eyes… were the eyes. The iris was almost completely white, the pupils were small. They were full of rage. “You want to try that again?” Asked the visitor. Was the voice female? Male? Human? The drunk was too terrified to think. “N-no.” The drunk sputtered out. “P-please don’t-don’t hurt me.” “I don’t have the time to hurt you, you bastard.” It was clearly a woman of some species speaking to him. “Get out of my sight before you give me a reason to put this dagger through your larynx.” She(?) released the drunk, who quickly scrambled out of the tavern, blubbering and crying.

  • The sullen, shadowy figure marched down the twilight path towards the village of Redmont. He had with him a longbow, strung across his back next to his satchel of belongings, at his waist two steel daggers were bound, and with him drifted a palpable atmosphere intrigue and mystique. The man's boots squelched through the now mud, a light rain beginning its downfall earlier that evening had left him soaked to the skin. He mumbled incoherently to himself, making brief eye contact with his passers-by, conducting casual search of his quarry. He noticed an influx of these silent townsfolk before he noticed the dim light of Redmont brimming the crest of the path's incline. Coming into view of the quaint mountain village he breathed an involuntary sigh of relief, now officially out of the wilderness he could let rest his racing mind and inch his guard down just enough to be at peace. A slight smile broke his bearded, dirty face as a very pleasant thought made its place in his mind. A warm, hearty meal. Maybe a pint or two of mead, and if he was lucky a bed warmed with the body of a village maiden. Not in his current condition he reflected regretfully, coming to terms with his state of filth and the restrictions that came with it. He made his way down the wet path, looking from villager to villager as they passed him, each of which lowered their heads in unconscious submission to this daunting new figure. *Fine by me* he thought to himself. *All I need is to find the face, I don't care who I frighten along the way* his mission's sullen atmos darkened his mood once more, yet he pressed on. Before he knew it the man found himself on the doorstep of the local tavern. The old, rotting wooden sign hanging from it's rusted iron peg on the streetside wall of the frequented establishment was barely legible, but through the mist and drizzle he made out the words "Redmont Tavern". Somewhat disappointed with the lack of originality in it's naming (something he found himself looking forward to when traveling across Moltovia) he shrugged and breathed a restful sigh as he pushed the damp wooden door open and entered. Instantly he was hit with a wave of dry warmth, a welcome change to the bitter climate of the north, and found himself salivating at the smell of roast beef, fresh bread and surprisingly coffee. It was rare to find coffee so far north, and his mood was instantly lifted at this development. the tavern was rather low in the crowd, only 10 or 15 farmers and woodcutters sat around the warm, well lit main hall of the inn, and he again found himself quite pleased with how things were turning out. A few heads turned to look at the enterer but no one seemed to take much interest, due in part to what was likely a cloud of intoxication. kicking the mud off his boots he made his way to the farthest corner of the tavern, boards creaking underfoot as he went. He found a comfortable bench facing out toward the heart of the inn with a small table for drinks, bowls of soap and whatnot. He sat and made himself at home, dropping his satchel of belongings, cloak and bow to the floor beside his feet. With a contented sigh, he threw back his hood and dug around his satchel in search of Ginabrik, his pipe and with it his personal blend of tobacco, grown far south where the fields were ripe with life. What looked to be the innkeeper's daughter walked briskly over to him with a smile on her face and a mug of mead in her hand. " The first is always on us good sir, it's fresh brewed and the best you'll find up in these parts," she said cheerfully. A gracious smile widened the man's face as he reached for the foaming mug. "Thank you." He said simply. "Now, you look like you're in need of a hot bowl of stew, again it's freshly made. Only 6 gold and you'll be more than pleased, I prepared it myself." She added with a hint of pride gilding her voice. He nodded happily, her mood infectious. She clicked her heels and turned to make her way to the bar. An empty mug and a lit pipe later she returned with a steaming bowl of what looked to be the tastiest stew he'd had in months. As she set it down she scooped up the mug and made her way back to the bar, returning with it revitalized and dripping in her hand. "What do you call yourself sir? My name is Delilah." She said politely. "Kenly, you can call me Kenly." He replied. "Kenly it is." She chirped back, reaching out her hand for the owed gold coins. Kenly fumbled around his satchel for the coin purse and came up again with 30 in hand. "I'd like a room for the night as well, and a bath if possible." He said, again quite matter of factly. Delilah showed him to his quarters after a long, warm bath in the back. He found himself revitalized and replenished, not yet ready for sleep he retrieved a tattered book from his satchel and made his way back into the nook he had found earlier, Ginabrik in tow. Moments later he found himself sitting with a steaming cup of coffee, and plooms of fragrant pipe tobacco circling about him and his book, wholey at peace. The evening drifted on lazily until, at last, the lights were put out and the guests either filtered out into the icy night air or cozied deep beneath the furs and quilts of their beds, drifting off into a deep slumber. But not Kenly. Kenly sat awake, listening for the sound of a stalking intruder, as was his custom and duty. But slowly he began drifting, lulled to sleep by the sound of the crackling fire in the main hall.

  • I sit by the fire, warming my frozen fingers above the heat of the flames. After a while I rise, permitting my stiffened joints a stretch, before settling down at a nearby wooden table. I take out an inkpot and a sheaf of papers and begin to write. The bartender comes over, asking if I want anything - to which I respond, "The cheapest thing you have on the menu, if you please, sir." Some nearby fellow leans over, his breath smelling of pale ale, and looks over my shoulder. "A writer, we've got here?" Waggling his (rather bushy, I note) brows, he goes, "No funds, eh?" I don't endeavor to dignify him with a reply of any sorts, and only quips, dryly, "Just sheltering from the winter storm, good sir, before I go on with my travels. Not looking for any trouble, so if you could please leave me alone ..." The guy looks disinterested, already, and gives me the briefest of a shrug, then a snort, before turning back to his friends and the joviality. I pull my cloak tighter around me, and as the food arrives (a pint of watery ale, and some charred bits one might interpret as dog meat, if they're lucky enough, perhaps?) I go back to my writing, the tavern's liveliness fading into mere background noise, as I begin to document anew the past couple of days that had lead to my coming here - to Northpoint.

  • These soundscapes and relaxing visuals have very nearly LITERALLY been a lifesaver for me in recent months. Being alone, isolated from public spaces - or at least isolated from public spaces WITHOUT a creeping dread of disease. I especially love this one. The warm crackling of fire, the soft clinking of dishes, muffled voices in friendly conversation...it really can fool my subconscious into feeling less alone. It also somehow makes my small space feel larger, less claustrophobic. Thank you Guild of Ambience!

  • My feet are tired, eyelids a bit weary. But I feel both rested and refreshed by entering this cozy tavern. Before I arrived I wanted nothing more than a bed to sleep but now that I'm here, perhaps I'll enjoy this blissful hour. The table I'm seated at is worn and smooth. I wonder how many people have passed their time in this very seat, and how many drinks must have spilled to render this crudely shaped table into such a marvel of splinterless wood. I run my hands across the grooves and take a deep breath with my eyes closed. I allow the dimly busy sounds of this inn to quiet my mind. There's nothing to worry about now that I'm here. Conveniently I'm adjacent to the fire. No doubt this table would be coveted during these winter months, but I'd wager, even without inspecting the inn, that the warmth of this hearth must permeate every corner. Otherwise I wouldnt hear the unmistakable hum of such delighted patrons. Though I cant make out their voices, the low chorus of sounds is simply resplendent. The feint whistle of kindling flushes me with relief as I scoot in my chair. I break out my traveling bag, wet with rain, and procure my notebook of sketches. It's dry and wanting use. From my jacket I slip out my brush pen and begin to draw. I havent felt this relaxed in ages.

  • After paying the required 6 gold coins, Treygard sat with a foaming tankard of Shire ale and some smoked meat, cheese and bread in front of him. The rain on the window above his head drummed a shallow tattoo upon the window, but that was fine. Treygard was comfortable and warm within the walls of The Stone Cross. After rummaging into his pack, he pulled out a worn, yet lovingly cared for leather bound book, some ink and a quill and proceeded to write another chapter about his travels. The conversation amongst the other guests of the tavern were lost upon him. His book and his travels were the only things important to him.
