    • T.rex vs Titanoboa,I believe

      @girbaudvaldez3553@girbaudvaldez35538 жыл бұрын
    • 1, Dinosaurs were warm blooded so they wouldn't have had the thermoregulation requiring stopping and holding still. Lizard and snake movements are the result of a metabolism that can't expend too much energy at once. 2, Titanoboa lived only after the extinction of the dinosaurs and evolved from the snakes that survived the extinction event. It's ancestors would have been significantly smaller because large fauna did not survive the KT mass extinction and several large, cold-blooded reptiles were the first megafauna to occur 5 million years later. In other words, Titanoboa's direct ancestors were probably smaller than the largest snakes that shared Tyrannosaurus' habitat (if such species is ever discovered).

  • We don't know who wins because there is not enough footage. I hate videos like this. I'll draw my own conclusion since you ran out of film. The snake waits till the venom takes effect and then eats dinner.

    • This is the way of true wildlife filming... it's not scripted and you don't always end up with a tidy conclusion to the unfolding events. Chances are that the contributor of this video was a passing tourist so we should thank them (and KNP) for sending on the footage so we can all see it for free. You're probably right as to what happened next though!

  • Great and rare footage. Chameleons seem to be disappearing, just dont find them around like 1 used to. The Boomslang has exceptional, full colour vision and can easy see a camouflaged, motionless creature like a chamie. He doesnt have to rely on motion like most other snakes & im sure he has the best vision of all the snakes. The chameleon blows himself up in defense and because the Boomslang is back fanged, he needs to open his mouth very wide to bite and inject venom.

  • snake backed off because its job was done. got two good bites in early on. all it had to do was sit there, avoid the chameleon, and wait for the poison to kill it. I see this with rattlesnakes all the time. they strike, then leave to avoid taking any damage themselves. then they just track down the dead animal by smell later.

  • That is a female boomslang, and certainly not a black mamba. They often get confused as they are of similar colour. The difference is that the boomslang has much larger eyes, and a black mamba is a significantly longer and larger snake. Both are extremely venomous, mambas are agressive whereas a boomslang is a shy snake. Also a male boomslang is normally green or yellow/green whereas females are brownish grey.

  • Without further video, can not truly say the snake won. As the the chameleon reacted like it should after the attempted bite. First we do not know if the snake did a "test" bite as is typical to see the threat involved. Second the chameleon being a reptile has a harder skin surface than mammals so there is a possible chance the fangs deflected or did not penetrate. Also towards the end the chameleon is not acting "dazed" from venom, it is doing what is does best....hiding in plain sight. I most likely started it's defensive mechanism where it tries to appear as background foliage,the swaying is from imitating wind on the grass and leaves. depending on the snakes sight it may have thought the prey vanished into the grass behind it and being that a chameleon is a reptile, it's cold blooded so if the snake happened to be using infrared senses like pit vipers, it could be hard to distinguish temperature as the body should radiate the about the same given it's surroundings at the time.
