Breaking News: Every Canadian involved has stated that they're very sorry

**Sorry eh!
Soory for not being able to give you more than one like.
*Americans* lol
Sorry for being Canadians?
0:40 "the next bus is coming down" ... too much hapiness in that voice :)
0:58 "Ok, what seems to be the problem heeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrreeeeeeeee." 1:15 "Ok, let me get some salt on these rrrroooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaddddsss."
😂
This so hilarious even the police lol
After several vehicles including a cruiser had slid down a hill not before a plow truck wasn't immune before the cruiser was sandwiched between a bus and the blade of the plow truck.
The slippery road does not respect police more than other people.
The plow attempted a PIT maneuver
Shindler39 k
Did you notice that the sand truck was spreading sand while it was on it's way down the hill? If the sand truck had gone DOWN the hill in REVERSE before everything else had started moving none of this would have happened.............(8^P
Tip: don't lock the brakes. Apply brakes by feel & pumping it. Notice the green taxi. The driver got off the brakes & was able to avoid the accident.
spot on also if possible turning into the kerb or side onto the direction of sliding like the taxi
There is a point where there is not adherence at all, I was that day on the highway and my car was going to the sides, other cars where losing control and crashing close to me, and people here knows really well what is winter... anyways, pumping the brakes works, but going down in a hill doesn't help very much, and if I am not wrong, I think the Kia Soul taxi is AWD, I guess that really helped him. Anyways, we have to be careful. (Sorry for my english, it's not my first language)
the police car going backward with its lights on made me laugh the hardest. I'm glad no one was hurt.
Then the plow truck slammed into that poor police car

The inevitability of it!
I like the way they slide so gracefully and calm
Wow, even dragging the plow didn't slow the pickup.
But it managed to spread the sand!)))
Seems like it's a meeting of all seasons tyres lovers
The hill was pure ice, no tires including studded would stop the vehicles.
studded would all day long and chains what are you talking about????
Winter tires are mandatory in Quebec, probably a water leak that turned into ice
This was published in the Wall Street Journal on Dec 6th. Winter tires are mandatory from Dec. 15th to Mar. 15th in Quebec, I'm not saying these vehicles didn't already have them on or that winter tires would have stopped them in these conditions. I do know winter tires make a big difference though as I use them in Alberta. In Alberta we can get snow storms as early as October and as as late as May. Do they even make winter tires for busses though? Here is a link for their law. saaq.gouv.qc.ca/en/road-safety/behaviours/adapting-your-driving/winter-driving/
they do make snow tires for busses but busses are only rear wheel drive and not having a motor in the front makes them hard to steer and the busses should of had chains on if they didnt put winter tires on plus locking up your wheels makes it harder to stop if they didn't the people would of had more control and could have avoided crashing
I love this video so much , and because no one is injured watching this straight up puts a smile on my face.
Damage to someone's property putting smile on someone's face... interesting
Ok thanos
You would not be smiling though if you had to call your insurance company up and go through all the hassle for days on end while your vehicle is out of service
Can't believe this comment exists, in total shock it has likes.
How sadistic. Charming.
This was kind of hilarious, especially when the vehicles trying to control traffic started sliding down the hill.
@E. N the video said there was no injuries
My first thought would be to go uphill and warn incoming drivers to not even try. I guess it's more fun to just sit there and watch the show.
Spence Redford yeah Burlington people would. There are icy spots that can cause groups to gather and push anyone who needs it up the hill. I'm talking for several hours.
so canadian
Try giving total strangers advice on the side of an icy road...let me know how that works out for you.
@@sharpuslf in Canada it works
@Odin Ardans he meant for the people just standing and watching, to walk uphill and stop people from coming down. Or even the drivers could have done it so they don’t continue to wreck their cars even more..
I like how there's a producer credit at the end.
Yep...This video 6 years old already, but it will never get old... This is Montreal's first snow somewhere downtown. The city always do this in firsts snow falls ( NOT APPLYING ABRASIVES WHERE'S REALLY NEEDED ) like this very excellent exemple. Thumbs up Montreal !!
The action of the snow blower deserves respect. Sacrificing himself, he sprinkled sand on the road!

Sometimes I complain about the heat in Florida, then I see stuff like this
Florida gets snow sometimes. In case you haven't notice, the snowbelt has reached Georgia now which means Georgia gets snow every year. And that snowbelt is still moving south more and more. And I'd be afraid to live in Florida when you guys have nothing to clear the roads from snow and ice and having these people drive on them who never drove in winter conditions before.
hhds113 I live in Georgia and we still haven’t gotten snow (thanks global warming)
@Matt561 Except Florida has Hurricanes and frequent evacuations
Welcome to Montreal

I love how this guy just watches each car knowing what’s about to happen
So honestly, since I have been looking for your channel, my awareness on the street has already changed significantly. I no longer take many risks that I have received. As you said, it would be better to arrive too late than not at all. Thank you for your work
Look taxi driver - he/she released brakes and front wheels started to rotate and vehicle was able to steer to away from incident
Yes and that taxi driver was interviewed on TV. He was a recent immigrant from a very warm country witnessing his first winter. He was quite a hero for his excellent driving.
@@kieranquebec9466 who cares who i from what country... problem is you loose traction you do not slam brakes simple
"Producer"... is that the one that poured the water over the street? :D
He just pours a water bottle that he never drank the day before and said "it's just water what could go wrong" the next day "hey I think we have some content
You mean the snow right? Lol.
😅 Priceless.
This is not due to poor driving. That plow truck knows how to drive to be sure and you can hear his blade grinding down on the icy road trying to stop/slow down. I bet siped tires or even studded winters are sliding here and gearing down is probably useless too. Must have been a first snow of the year with a thaw and quick freeze with no sand down yet. That hill looks pretty nasty too. Insurance companies are going to have fun with this!!
Clearly you have never seen snow and ice before, in Scandinavia and Baltics we drive 90 km/h with this kind of weather, and we onlyuse studded winter tires.
@@peeterl.2016 omg isn't that dangerous?
@@kpaxxapk6397 Clearly they didn't have studded winter tyres. It doesn't matter if there is salt or no salt.
@@kpaxxapk6397 Quebec: "Studded tires are also permitted between October 15 and May 1 as long as their used both front and rear."
Insurance companies are the big winners in this. They will hike the prices up for all vehicles involved for the next 5 years of premiums regardless of fault or not. Car insurance biggest scam of the century.
As a Canadian, I feel this on a spiritual level.
Hi 🇨🇦Canadian
I lived in Minneapolis and experienced roads like that so many times. I moved to LA and don’t miss that weather at all!
Yeah in LA you just have backed up traffic and two hour commutes that would normally take you ten minutes anywhere else.
Why do they keep driving down the road? They didn't get it closed off as soon as they saw a trend?
Scott Kremers That's why the cop was at the top of the hill, to stop cars from going down. Unfortunately Chargers aren't snowmobiles.
City folk.
It's Canada, we don't close road like wimps lol
I'm surprised that AWD with winter tires didn't put up a better fight, even on ice. Four tires spinning, two tons of traction, that hill must have been steeper than it looked. Or the cop was just on the brakes. Even though that clearly wasn't working and they were facing up the hill, and probably still in Drive.
it was a very slippery slope
Wonder how Automated cars will fair? "Can not compute"
a bug has occurred
* "Cannot commute"
You forget that the driver was already not in control. The car had a mind of its own and the driver was just a passenger. Probably an automated car wouldn't have allowed itself to go down a steep road covered in ice (self preservation).
nothing changed even human, lol
Automated cars will handle this no problem. To think otherwise is just plain behind the times. Get up to speed with millennial and Gen Z's - automated cars are the future. Period. "Eye roll emoji".
Watching the policecar helplessly slide down the hill was the funniest part
When the police and the snow plows can't help you... no one can
That definitely had a lot of ice in the accumulation. I am glad no one was hurt.
Trust me, My car was sliding like this a week back when the road had only clear ice on top of it when I was going downhill ( It's tricky because you don't know what's ahead of you when you start to go down the hill and especially when you have a stop sign within a few hundred feet.) I was doing 20 kph in a 50 zone which wasn't too fast for the conditions. I did slide when I hit my brakes but went against my instinct and released brakes which in a way made my car come out of the skid and ended up going through the stop sign and after I found "Better" ground, I hit the brakes to stop in the middle of the intersection. At times, you can't do nothing other than not driving the car in such conditions. I had my winter tires on which didn't help like in the video.
cars with studs don´t slide. That sanding car with slicks by 1:34 is amazing
Did you have studded tires? What was the air pressure in the tires?
@@icsoothsayer5018 Pressure is not needed as information when there are no studs. Stud tyres don't slide
@@teemum.9023Everything slides, including stud tyres. Studs only increases friction coefficient but does not make it absolute. As well as lowering air pressure in tyres for ice surface.
@@icsoothsayer5018 You are assuming and not driven a lot. Studs keep cars still on icy hill. Those cars don't have studs. Everything is stable with stud up to 35 km/h
I didn't expect the snow plow also sliding....
The music makes this kinda cute.
Yea...the melody was sweet
Notice how the only car that let wheels spin survived. And it stopped immediately when first wheel reached "better" ground. If he was just little more skilled he would passed this area like nothing happened maneuvering around those crashed vehicles :) This does not apply for heavy buses but if they let the wheel spin occasionally and kept it strait it would not slide down that fast.
How are you going to have traction for turning if you don't have traction for stopping
@@eetuthereindeer6671 if you let the wheel to spin you would have some traction for both. This is the principle of anti-skid or anti-lock ABS system. It's an old comment thought :)
@@eetuthereindeer6671 you can control the vehicle if it's wheel are not locked. You can steer and stop it earlier.
@@hbh3144 yeah apparently an old comment but i don't bother reading the age if im curious for an answer xd

It's in Montreal. I live here, i remember this. The snow storm that was expected turned to an ice storm. It was the city's fault bc they are just useless as always and did not put salt during the night. Not everyone has studded tires bc if you ever want to travel to Ontario you'll get fined over there as they are illegal
Few weeks, it's the silver anniversary of The Great Ice Storm that left us within 12 hours of city-wide evacuation.
This remains one of the best winter vids
0:23 Great timing of the music.
A few years ago I saw a similar video taking place in Seattle. I smugly laughed at those drivers, since they really weren't used to true winter driving like us winter-tested and highly experienced Montrealers. I would like to apologize to those Seattle drivers for my obviously misplaced air of superiority. Sorry, eh.
thanks for your apology, on behalf of seattle

@R Diaz same with vancouver bc much like seattle with extreme hills, some of vancouver suburbs go up to 1500 feet high

Lol that was deadly..not even 4 wheel drive would of helped you there, should of just blocked road off.

Well least Snow plow was doing its Job Trying to get police of the road😂😂

Yep. It happens every winter think from the reaction that it had never snowed before. 🇨🇦
The plow continuing to salt the roads as he lost control. You the real MVP dawg.
Dear Canadians: Salt or sand the street _before_ it snows.
In Canada snow can accumulate quickly before trucks can get to salting them, also there could be black ice, salt also has little effect does on steep inclines such as this in large storms. - A Canadian
Ten pin bowling... with vehicles
Seriously, can’t believe it happened in Québec.
Amazing, what if the slope is much steeper ?
*TAXI DRIVERS CONFIRMED SUPERIOR TO ALL OTHER DRIVERS, TAXI DRIVER MASTER RACE*
U would think Canada would be prepared for this
We are, but no winter tire in the world will stop a vehicle on a snow and ice covered hill like this.
Thanks for the recommendation, and what a classic this clip is, never gets old, beautiful
Why would you drive on snow with summer tyres? is not obligatory for cars in Canada to fit the M+S in winter?
Then everybody got out of their vehicles and said "soory aboot that"
So, all that guff we Texans took for not being able to get out when we had our freak ice/snow storm in February, and this is proof that, if conditions are not what you expected, you can get in a bind, too.
Well said!! I live in Texas and people from so many other places laughed at our ordeal, yet just last year (2022) people in "winter states" were stranded or locked in their homes. Might be a good idea for people to just not laugh at others' natural disasters lol.
That stupid freak storm was just a blip on the radar screen. It was totally abnormal. If we were to apply the "logic" of those states that bashed us for not being prepared, well, if a freak tornado hit California, should be bash them for not having tornado shelters built ahead of time? For the last three weeks, TX has recorded 105-108 degree weather. It's FIFTEEN degrees cooler in Las Vegas and that's the desert. Trust me, those people living smugly in those winter states will faint in the heat down here. Saw it happen in college. Was at a summer camp in Oklahoma and it was nowhere near 95 but several people fainted at a morning camp meeting.
With a auto trans an rear wheel drive you stick it in reverse use gas as brake letting your front tires roll so you can steer hand on horn probably make it through intersection at bottom.
Ive been living like this all my life
Bet the cop tried to blame the salt truck for running into him.
He tried to arrest him on suspicion of "assault"
@@HooverA3060 after the cop assaulted the bus, had to make the report look good.

"Police said there were no injuries" . . . . A police car sliding
Idk why but this video is oddly peaceful.
I love how the snow plow had the salt spinning like crazy... too little, too late!
Bruh that car in front of the bus could of at least moved
Traction isn't so good that you just accelerate off the blocks like a drag car. And they probably don't expect to get rear ended by a bus
Even the cop cars are powerless to mother nature.
0:57 The working light bar very useful thing this situation.
I have to ask...I'm a bus driver from Canada, does the Montreal transit system have a plan for busses going down hill there? I mean if its a good slope, why would driver try it...NOVA bus isn't that good...nor is PREVOST etc.... MAYBE a detour?
If they all steered like the taxi rather than just jumping on the brakes and locking the tyres up they could have avoided hitting each other. Once your tyres are locked you can't control it as they found out.
This all would have been prevented if they let go of the brake and turn the steering wheel to the left like the taxi driver did.
Yes but he was lucky that tires found grip ..
nice driving ace ever heard of the emergency break.
And this is why I never drive in the middle of a snow storm or while the road has not been completely cleared yet.
If this happens every year on the same streets they should block it off and detour ahead of time
Apparently it's in Vancouver. It doesn't snow frequently there.
+Diogo It's in Montreal, and it snows VERY frequently there
You don't need to block it off .. just throw salt before it snows and the road will have no issues
