The spalting and grain were beautiful. Nice job...
Thank you!
Hi 👋, That is a great looking 👀 square bowl 🍲. I didn’t see the make of your finishing product, But I Not sure if you no about some oil finish they spontaneous combust, I knew about this many years ago, but there was a KZhead link by somebody a few weeks ago that was doing experiments with oil finishes on rags and paper tails , if they are put into a container or even lying on the floor, they can catch fire. It might take a few hours but the experiment the sky done was very good. It’s partly to do with somebody losing their workshop I think somewhere the end part of last year, great territorial lovely finish on the square bowl, I look 👀 forward to seeing your next project, Be safe, PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE.
Yikes!
That’s an awesome bowl. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Very nice well done 👍 Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thank you!
Beautiful job, thank you so much for great video
Thank you!
Nice job. Hitting the dead center marks and a perfectly square block of wood is essential as obviously you know. I found out the above on my first few attempts... LOL... Keep on turning, keep on learning!
Thank you!
Really nice work!
Thank you!
Looks great. I like how you showed that you stopped and checked, most YT'ers don't.
Thank you!
That is a lovely bowl. It’s different and I like different 🌞
Thank you very much!
That is great. I hope i can do one half that good. Thank you.
thank you!
Excellent video and you are an artist 🌲 too 😉 Beautiful lil bowl, must do it.
Thank you very much!
Good timing for me to come across this video. Just attempted my first square bowl yesterday. It's very refreshing to see other women Out there. Thank you.
There are not many of us! Good luck on the square bowl!
Very pretty, well done!
Thank you! 😊
You make it look easy. Nice work.
Thank you!
Great bowl!
Thank you!
Very nicely done.
Thank you very much!
Welcome 👌👌👌🥰
Great job! Those corners are scary and hard to keep symmetrical, but you did it !
Thanks!
That turned out beautiful! 👍🏻Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! 😊
I like that bowl good job 😊
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful work
Thank you!
Very nice. This is something I want to try again. The last time I tried it my square bowl turned in to a jigsaw bowl. Pretty sure there are a couple pieces I still haven't found... but that was pretty early in my turning experience, so maybe it's time to try again
Haha! Definitely!
Same. I typed in square bowl to see this specific project.
Bela peça amigo parabéns
Nice. You made it look easy too.
Thank you!
Nice work 👍
Thank you!
great job! Where did you find that vacuum chuck?
It’s from Frugal Vacuum Chucks
Nice job, seems you you were lucky to take the lessons, I'm trying to figure out the 40-40 at my own 😊
I offer lessons!
@@lathedback LOL, I'm in Canada. but appreciate the offer.
@@area50juan I don’t discriminate! 😂
Just started turning. You make it look so easy. Catches are my main problem. Great video, thanks.
Thank you! It’s all about the grain. Peel side grain, slice end grain. I offer lessons if you’re interested. I live in Colorado.
@@lathedback I'm in maui. Lol
Nice!! My first square bowl didn't turn out nearly that round!!
Haha!
Excellnt!
Many thanks!
Sehr schön, sehr gute Arbeit, gefällt mir
Thank you!
great job xoxoxo
Thank you!!
Parabénsuito legal!!
Thank you!
Nice 👌👍
Thank you 😊
Your technique is very good but was that a roughing spindle gouge you used on the inside of the bowl?
It’s a bottom bowl gouge
Would you mind sharing the brand of right angle air sander you use? I like the compact form. Thanks
It’s PROS mini variable speed sander. I got it from Woodturners Wonders (online)
Cool project, what finish did you use?
Tried and True Varnish oil
Nice square bowl.
Thank you!
Great video - thank you. Are you using a roughing gouge inside the bowl? How comes?
I’m using a bottom bowl gouge :)
@@lathedback Thank you. They do not seem to be so well known here (UK). Looks useful.
Simply elegant. What kind of wood? Looks like olive.
Ambrosia maple
Great job! As you grow on KZhead get ready to see a bunch of comments about how you shouldn't use a SRG when they see you using a bottom bowl gouge!
Meaning, they’ll think the bottom bowl gouge is an SRG?
@@lathedback yep, exactly!
@@lathedback what is an SRG?
@@craigbarton5492 spindle roughing gouge 😊
I bought a small lathe two years ago but I'm afraid to take it out of the box. Now that I saw the lady at work making beautiful objects I made a decision. Because I am a very strong character I will sell the lathe and get a hot dog cart. I believe not to burn.
😉
@@lathedback No! Don't give in. Find a club and take some lessons. I promise you it's worth the effort.
Beautiful. I need help. Tried this many times and can not get edge thickness even all the way around. 4 tips are usually thinner than sides. Suggestions?
hmmmmm.... I start at the tip and slowly work my way in. meaning, i turn about a quarter of an inch at the tip. stop the lathe, check the piece, then turn another small portion. you can also even out thickness by negative rake scraping the bottom side. Hope that helps.
Thanks
What sort of skew was that? Never seen one like that. Very nice bowl.
it's a skew by Stuart Batty
Congratulations on what you do !!!
Thank you!!
What hose did you hook up to the head of the lathe? Was it a suction hose to help keep the bowl in place?
It’s a vacuum chuck 🙃
Hi, beautiful bowl. I'm just starting to learn and I have a shopsmith. What was that orange hose you put into the lathe? Was it air pressure? if so why, what is it for? thanks
It’s a vacuum chuck
Wow, didn't know such a thing existed. I'll do some reading on it. thank you.. @@lathedback
It’s a deep deep rabbit hole!😆
I have a shopsmith so i can't use a vacuum chuck, but that is very cool. thanks @@lathedback
What kind of an air sander do you use and where can I get one?
Wood turners wonders! (Online). It’s the PROS mini.
At 1:39 in the video you use a very wide, looks like replaceable scraper. Can you provide the a source and information on that tool. Thanks
It’s a Stuart Batty tool. I think he may be selling them at the AAW this year.
😀👍👍👍
Info on your sander please?
