Thankyou so much! I bought my bowl in Brunswick Heads a week ago and couldn't get it to sing. Neither could my friend who has her own singing bowl and is far more experienced than me. The first time I was able to make my bowl sing brought tears to my eyes ... I still have some practice to be consistent with the tones but it works beautifully thanks to this tutorial!!! A most useful tutorial. Just received my first singing bowl today and was easy to get it singing after a couple of attempts thanks to watching this.
Yesterday 6/28/22, my best friend bought me a 4 in. singing bowl for my birthday, which was last week. For the last 2 hpurs, I have been trying to get my bowl to sing (and couldn't). I was beginning to think it was not a real, but a decorative singing bowl. I watched a few videos on how to make it sing. This video was the 4th video I watched (why your bowl is Not singing). I realized I was not holding my hand Completely Flat! Even though I hadn't been touching the bowl with my fingers while holding it in palm, my center of my palm was too cupped, not "flat" enough to enable a continuous tone. In the video, when you started making your bowl sing (after demonstrating how flat to hold your hand), my bowl immedistrly started SINGING LOUDLY along with yours in Perfect Harmony!!! I wanted to shout in Happiness and call my friend and at that moment I noticed my singing bowl's tone started to lower. I then took a breath and concentrated on being thankful to this bowl for "connecting" with me. The tone came back Up and this bowl sung so Loudly! I am both amazed and humbled. I will now call my friend and thank her once again for this awesome gift. Thank You for sharing this video with us!!! 🙌🏾

Thank you so much for this! Thanks to your Tip #4, I was finally able to get my singing bowl to sing with a suede mallet. Before, it would only sing with a wooden one which would buzz and clatter when it got loud, which was very disruptive, and ultimately, uncomfortable.

You know that last 'secret' way to get to know your singing bowl to help it sing, is so important. As I've added to my collection of bowls I've realised this more and more. If I've even been away from home and left mine for a few days or more, they are 'cold' towards me when I resume playing. (Sometimes mine travel with me, heavy as they are, so we can continue our relationship!). And each bowl has its own unique personality and character. Learn about it. 'Converse' by playing it often, and really listen to what it tells you. It will talk to you, and when it's happy it will sing.... and sing...... 🙏
My bowls and I were out to dinner just last night....
My singing bowl will sing using the wooden part but the sound would completely stop when I use the male part or won’t sing at all using the suede part. Have you ever heard of this ?
I found the same to be true with mine also. From the first day I received it. Then by chance I used the wooden end instead of the suede end. The bowl started singing. The other thing is that it won’t sing if I use the cushion. But if I hold it in the palm of my hand and let the bowl warm to my touch, it will sing beautifully.

This is normal. Usually normal for machine made singing bowls. But hand hammered singing bowls will usually respond to the suede part. All are acceptable and good! Happy singing friend.❤️🎶☺️

You absolute legend! Tip #4 was where I was going wrong... just a shame I'm doing this immediately after a particular gruelling arm day and can only keep it up for a short while (plus it's a big bowl, so that ain't helping my burning arms much)! But it works, the bowl sounds like the bassy drone I hoped for, and I'm chuffed. (Also, thank you for the no-fluff approach. Much appreciated!)

I did all of these first few correctly, and it still would not sing... got to the last part and was like, sigh, ok... I will talk to my bowl... well I sent it loving thoughts and willed a connection, and whalla it worked, lol

I have had my bowl since Aoril and it was playing perfectly until about an hour ago. It has not been dropped. I tried striking the side as he suggested in the video and it still rang beautifully. Then I decided to wipe the bowl and mallet with a nice soft cloth. Sound began to return but not as loud as previously. Then I rang my fingernail around the indented rings of the bowl and it improved even more. I saw black dirty substance on the nail and that might have been part of the problem. He mentions connecting with the bowl and just maybe the bowl is telling me it like myself can be tired!🤣

Thanks for the tips on Bowl Singing. I'm new to the practice. Curious to find a striker that may create different sounds with my 4in. bowl. Suede seems to be the go to material for a Tibetan bowl. Wondering if smooth leather or another material would still allow one to play the bowl?? Thoughts or experience on this topic??? Namaste.

I have two Thadobatis, a 7" & 9". They both sing without a jarring ringing. The mallet is 1.5 x 8.5 My smaller bowl, not sure what kind, is 8.25 x 2.5 and it has that jarring ring on two sides. Perhaps I need a smaller mallet? Thank you for the input without the spiritual fluff, much appreciated.
Thank you, purchased my first bowl and it sounded tinny and rattlely when struck and wouldn't sing. On closer inspection it had an inch long crack. New bowl and striaght away my daughter and go it singing.
I just got my small bowl today and found out I cannot get it to sing from the suede side of the mallet but from the wooden side I can. Also, your reason # 4, from my lack of experience, I assume depends on the bowl. I discovered that I can create two different tone sounds from two different angles. I higher pitch from the rim with mallet at an angle and a lower pitch from below the rim with straight vertical position.
Hi a very important question please🙏 if the sound is not singing and i have done all the steps that u said is it a way to return bk again the sound can it be regained again? Please notice it didn't fell down at all. So what can i do?
I have a question I know a lot of the crystal singing bowls have to be recharged. Does the metal bowls have to be charged?
I've been trying for a month, now just watching this I finally managed it! It turns out the cushion I have for the bowl doesn't have enough friction for the amount of pressure my bowl needs, so I actually have to hold it in my hand.
Can we place cushion on the table or must keep it on palm?
I like the design of your bowl and it looks expensive?
can a lacquered or painted bowl still sing or does that ruin the friction?
i have a big 1 but it also may be the striker too the 1 i got with the bowl isnt 1 that is suitable for it too
One thing I have noticed about people in general is that they cannot see what their own bodies are doing. It’s as if they are disconnected from their bodies and I realized this is mainly because they rely too much on their social skills. They cannot shut up long enough to comprehend how to use their hands to do anything. Anyway, if they put duck tape on their mouth, ear plugs stuffed in their ears, and blinders on the side of their heads to train them to take the time to look at their own body movements for a week or so then maybe they will understand how to use their hands with real purpose.

It would help to have a proper sized bowl. Small bowls your size are never used for therapeutic purposes.

I have all the 7 chakra singing bowls but only two aren’t working for me. When I hit them they make a sound long enough to know there’s no cracks and I use the same stick for all of them. Idk what it could be?

Interesting experience. I couldn't get my Tibetan singing bowl to sing. I then used my 528Hz tuning fork from the base chakra to the crown. Tried the bowl again and sang like a bird🐦
It has a nice vibration went striking the bowl, but the mallet is just wood..is thst ok..and it wont sing for me, im really spiritual too! I dont get it...hmm?
yeah i bought different strikers personally too to be honest cause i am getting a few more different sized bowls too and a Pan drum lol

My singing bowl was working..i hit 3 time ...one by one after ..its stopped to singing..its not cracked..i have checked.😔
I think one of my bowls arrived fractured is there a way to treat this that you know of? It doesn’t make any vibration sounds at all.
That's not a good feeling...I took an having issues making it sing, it sounds good when I hit with mallet, but it doesn't sing...I shldnt get frustrated but I am...hmmmm

Lol, nothing special. I don't know if I can recreate it again! Just let your shoulder move around the bowl with your hand while stopping your wrist from rotating? Good luck!

it sings when I use the stick part, but it doesn't sing when I use the black tape part of the stick.. why is this??

In the beginning I had the same problem, but after I move all hand, the stick begun tow work other side and louder. Bowl is 11cm.
My mallet is all wood. I believe you are supposed to use the wood

Also try putting it in a fire or even on top of an electric stove for 30 minutes really worked great for me, it actually happened by accident and I'm happy it did big difference 📿🖖🌼
