I remember commenting elsewhere, right after Inoue's fight with Cool Boy, that I had a feeling that Tapalez was worth more than most people were thinking. I just felt that they were vastly underestimating the man, but DAMN, even I was underestimating the man. What a fighter. He had power, precision, defense, patience, and guts. It's not like Tapalez ever knocked Inoue down but, unlike the last fight, there was a moment when I thought to myself that I had no idea who would win.
@heykenzo42842 ай бұрын
Lol I'm curious, what moment are you referring to? Like what round did you think tapalez would win or had a chance to win or that inoue would/could lose? From what I saw of the highlights, there didn't seem to be any moment where I was worried for inoue. After the first 2-3 rounds I knew tapalez didn't have the power or ability to KO inoeu. And I knew from the start that Tapalez wasn't going to out box inoeu and win a decision. So yeah. Zero chance for me. Even if tapalez looked like he landed some thudding shots, inoeu didn't really show any real pain or damage. The loud thuds from some tapalez punches was probably due to it hitting the gloves or was more of a slap punch to defended part of the body compared to inoeus punches that land with great accuracy/power and does the damage that everyone expects from the monster by now, whether it's body shot or headshot, or even arm shots where he punches your guard and it still rocks them or makes their guard open up and provide an open line to their head after which the next punch or two from inoue finishes them off.
@ex0duzzАй бұрын
@@ex0duzz It wasn't that there was a specific moment where I thought he was going to lose, it was Tapalez strategy as a whole. As far as I'm aware, no one is going to outbox Inoue. So although the commentators say "you can't just stay in front of him" that's exactly the one thing you can do against the Monster. Stand your ground with a solid defense and strike with accuracy enough to hit and power enough to force Inoue to respect him. The vast majority of fighters would get too anxious and get their asses countered, or stay too timid and become a punching bag for multiple rounds. There are two ways I can imagine the Monster losing. The first is against someone who can outdog him, trade shots, attack fast and be too tough for Inoue's power to break down even in a counter. I can't think of anyone in the nearby weight classes that can do that. The second scenario was exactly what Tapalez was doing. No. Tapalez's thuds weren't just from the slapping gloves, otherwise Inoue would have demolished him really early. The fight took as long as it did because Inoue would've just trampled any boxer that didn't have enough firepower to force him to pick his shots. He's done it before. It wasn't the thuds that tipped me off. It started by the fact that Inoue was getting hit more often than I've ever seen. Meanwhile, Tapalez was not only accurately blocking Inoue's shots but also dodging him, pressuring him against the ropes, not falling for easy baits. Yes, granted, Inoue was on top pretty much 100% of the fight, but this WAS a fight. Ever since his first bout with Donaire, Inoue had become a different beast and once he demolished Donaire in their second fight, I couldn't fathom him losing against anyone. To me, all the other fights he since then didn't feel like "fights", but public executions. Not this one, though. This felt like a real duel.

Out of the light divisions he's the best by far, by far. Much better than Tank, Shakur, Haney, Garcia or Teofimo. @@rcsnake1 I'd love to see him at 130 and 135 especially if his power carries up. I just don't know how much size he can put on given his age. He might be very close to as big as he can naturally get while maintaining his level of fitness. Either way I can't wait to see it.

Fella is durable & wasn't afraid to exchange fire with the KO machine .well tried. & Well done to Inoue
Tried but loser still
this was a great fight. no clinching, no leaning on each other, neither fighter afraid to push themselves to exhaustion. just pure boxing
When a video game boss has an unblockable attack. That said, Tapales really fought well and hung in there 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
can't deny, inoue is gettin better and better, he's improving more and more!
Rip to the young man that died in the undercard fight just before this main event 🙏
This is fearsome performance from Inoue FOTY2023. He fight on the back foot, ruthless, high level of awareness, break opponent rhythm frequently, granite chin, and never let his opponent show domination in moment for a long period of time. He is a special fighter. Like Shakur said after Fulton fight, “the monster real sharp”
Tapales put in a fantastic effort but somehow even a great performance like his simply isn't enough against the destructive Inoue.
Akhmadaliev will smash him
nothing great and fantastic on what tapales showed.
@@mr.brightside6576look, nobody agreed with you😂, u dummbass😆😆😆
That was insane. Kudos to Tapales, clearly gave his all, and I'd say was the first fighter since Donaire in 2019 to actually give the Monster an actual challenge. But some of those shots that Inoue just fucking ate like they were nothing. And then return with even more power. That must absolutely destroy your spirit, to feel yourself land a great hit but make it look like it did no damage. Fucking scary
He actually leaned back out of the way of a lot of Tapales punches. It took a lot of the power away. Also I feel like Inoue lost respect for Tapales and toyed with him till he finally went for the kill.
@@jordank2028 well, you have to know at Inoue's level it's hard to look for good sparring opponents, so it good to go for few more rounds to gain more experience before going in for the kill
You can just tell inoue’s punches are heavy. Some boxers got that fast and snappy power but you can tell inoue’s is more on the strong and heavy.
God given punching power. You CAN'T train that. You are born with it 🥊
@@brasstacksboxing409 Nahhh, lies again, if you train hard and take care of your body properly, you will be a beast.
@@Yiren666 fit and healthy with a lot of endurance yes.. but a "fast twitch" explosive type athlete has to be born with that trait.. hard work is vital of course but genetics play a huge role.. For example, no amount of training can turn a Nate Diaz into a puncher like Inoue period.

Amazing fight and very respectable fight from Tapales. Inoue just keeps proving he's a monster
Wow !! Tapales ain’t no joke either !! Them punches were fierce!! Great fight !! Better than all Inoue opponents
This felt like a real duel.
broke the guard of a solid rocking champ, this isn't just a K.O. guys. ... respect Marlon Tapales, that dude is tough. What a monster is Naoya Inoue
It was the punch that before that did the real damage.
It literally hit the top of his head
This is one of the best fights I've seen in recent years. You can go back to this over and over again to study it. Highly impressed with both sides.
Tapares said multiple times in the press conference that he wanted to beat him. You can see that the fighting spirit that came from that was truly extraordinary.
nah he was just fighting to survive
@@mr.brightside6576if he just wants to survive he should be keep running, instead of getting toe to toe exchanging punches against the monster
When Tapales was defensive, Inoue picked him apart with the jab and 1-2. When he got aggressive, Inoue pounded him with power shots. Tapales put up a great effort, but honestly, he was outmatched from the start.
Out of the light divisions he's the best by far, by far. Much better than Tank, Shakur, Haney, Garcia or Teofimo. I know they fight at lightweight or super lightweight but the difference is not that drastic. Inoue just became super bantamweight undisputed ( his second time being undisputed and very easily). I say defend the belts at least twice then vacant and simply move up to featherweight and he ll do the same there. He ll take the wbc belt from Rey Vargas at featherweight like nothing.
Tank will be the crap of this guy 100%😅
@reycorona2670 I don't think so, his power won't be enough. If Cruz Pitbul put Tank on high notice in their fight what do you think Inoue will do? He will absolutely beat Tank.
Don’t think so all my money on tank … this guy to weak for tank … but any thing can happen… let wish this fight to happen asap😊
@reycorona2670 Ofcourse anything can happen in a fight but the fight won't happen anytime soon. Dude, Tank is at 130 and he highly doubts to fight at 135..Haney for example, but Inoue beats them both. Inoue has that Pacquiao in him, power, speed, IQ..a great body shot, even a better body shot. Dude Tank is not even a champion! Dude is almost 30 and has fought no one yet.
Don’t think so .. even devin will be the crap of this guy… this guy has no power at all he’s just fast that’s it😊
Tapales Said before the fight that he feels no fear for inoue and he stood for toe to toe with him but as a ex local boxer i can say that fighters fear is not always comes before the fight sometimes fear comes during the fight specially if feels the power of your opponent thats what i think what happened to him here

The Monster is truly a force of nature. Still, congratulations to Tapales for giving Inoue a ten-round slug-out - most couldn't go two rounds with him.
After rewatching this fight, you could see that Inoue game plan changed after the 5th round. Instead of being more elusive and picking his shot placement, you could see Inoue was allowing himself to take the big shots from Tapales. It was like showing the world that he could endure big power shots but throw some back even bigger. Inoue was definitely showing to Tapales that he wanted that big power knockout. The fight ended up being who is the stronger puncher. An absolute brawl.
Inoue isn't going to find real competition until he moves up to 126.
Fulton ducked/sneaked/covered/running around to last 8 rounds. Tapales stood in front of Inoue ad traded for 10 rounds. Tamales could knock out Fulton too.
I agree
Actually it’s nothing to do with real competition or not as he already the champion across four different weight/class from 108 to 122 pounds. To be honest it’s only his own challenge himself to other weight/class level ! It is not about the abilities it’s all about size/weight that something you can’t control or to be ! There are limitations of human body/size. Simply he never can be even middleweight class, just like Mike Tyson never can compete in middle weight class. Anyway Inoue already a legend in boxing history
