  • I like the sportsmanship of Naoya Inoue, he knows what is needed at ALL times. In this fight he gave us an exhibition in execution all the while realizing what we really wanted to see was the KO!!! and after all that, he gave us what we wanted to see as well!!!!! What a Showman! What a Professional! What Skills!!!

  • It was kinda galling that in an interview afterward Butler was all "he didn't hit *that* hard" when he was shelled up and running scared for the entire fight. Not sure if his strategy for the fight was a rope-a-dope or if he was praying for Inoue to have a heart attack or for the boxing commission to secretly pass a rule to award points based on punches taken instead of punches landed - in any case he was on a hiding to nothing.

  • Inoue is still in search of an opponent who isn’t scared witless by him a few seconds into the fight. Butler stopped fighting midway of round one. With Cool Boy Steph it was the middle of round 2, when he popped Naoya with a hard punch and got the monster smile and was just obviously perturbed (with good reason)and started running (bad bad move against Inoue!). Anybody at 126? Ha! Maybe Figuero wouldn’t run…How about 130? Navarette would stand in and slug but he’s waaaaay too slow for Inoue. 135? Now we got something in Devin Haney, a truly world class boxer. He’d give Inoue some serious moments, but he still loses. And then there’s Tank, who certainly has the pop to match the Monster and is a super smart student of the game. That would be an epic fight, but Inoue would have to move up 3 weight classes to make it happen. Duran kept his power and certainly Manny did,and frankly neither had the skill level of the Monster.

    • There was only one fight which I'm aware of that had Inoue take a beating, and he nearly lost the fight between Himself, and Donaire (first fight). In my opinion, what gave the fight to Naoya Inoue was that he forced Donaire to take a knee after a shot to the liver. If that didn't happen then there was the possibility that Naoya Inoue could have lost.

    • His counter punches are exceptionally quick, so if you throw a punch and open yourself up he will land clean and hard. Opponents think they are going to try and counter him, but then they feel the power and don't have the balance to counter. This basically freezes them from offence, so they keep moving laterally with elbows tucked to protect their liver, but his footwork is so smooth and fast that he cuts the ring off and leaves them stranded and scared.
