  • A piece of advice on adjustable iron dumbbells (6:50), roll a layer of rubber electrical tape over the screws and you'll make them a lot tighter and add more friction so they don't become undone but while still being adjustable. You can also take advantage of their cheapness since rather than buying a pair of premium adjustable dumbbells for like 300-500 dollars, most of which only goes up to 50 pounds, you can buy multiple pairs of iron dumbbells and create pre-adjusted pairs that compliment your entire workout routine so you don't have to constantly adjust them.

    • Jesus Christ is the only way to be fulfilled. I'm writing this as I just had an encounter with Jesus the Almighty God. I was being tempted by demonic forces. I fell into temptation, and I ran away from the Lord. This hasn't been the first time. I have been on a on and off cycle which seemed to be an endless. But today, I feel called to share this testimony. I watched a video which really opened my eyes while I was still "hiding" from God. It touched my soul to the point that I fell on my knees right away, and begged for forgiveness and guidance. This was beyond anyother feeling I've felt while repenting. This one felt true. I had been like mad at God for being dumped by my this girl I was talking to. So this was a way to be tempted by evil demonic forces. I would get intrusive thoughts, and I kept trying to solve this feeling of being dumped on worldly things. And let me tell you, it only makes it worse. If you're someone who is not sure if you're saved, or if you are saved, but have been going through these on and off cycles such as porn, or secular music(which are other cycles I've been having a difficult time with) I want you to call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth, and the life. If you don't know what to do, I want you to get on your knees, and pray this prayer with your heart: Jesus, I believe you died on the cross for my sins, and was ressurected on the third day. I believe you came to the Earth, to pay for our sins. Thank you for dieing on the cross for my sins, in Your Name, I pray, amen. I don't know who is reading this, but if you ever fill an empty whole, which cannot be fulfilled, the only way to fulfill is by Jesus. When you turn your back on Jesus, you seek everything other then him. All worldly things, will never fill that hole. God Bless Yall!

One of the best purchases I've ever made I later on bought a used barbell online that came with like 40kg for €70, and since they're the same width I just upgraded the dumbbells with em! • If you ask me: power block dumbbells are totally worth it. The changing mechanism works pretty good and fast. It is super compact. The did have a Star Trek episode featuring these things. And - at least when I bought them - it has been the adjustable dumbbell with the highest possible weight. I only got up to around 40 kg each (41kg is what it says), but I think there is even one more stage I could have bought. Also I can add a (rather short) barbell to the mix. With the right setup I could do squats. I've already done snatches and powercleans etc. with it. It holds. And yeah, getting up to about 90kg (with the barbell attachment) it is a decent weight even for deadlift. I know there are guys that do bench with more than 40kg dumbbells... but for me there is still some room for improvement and I haven't reached the maximum weight of these yet (other than for deadlifting... I don't have the right setup for backsquating here so... otherwise this would be nice as well). If you do not have a garage or a room dedicated for your equipment, just your living room, then a pair of adjustable dumbbells (don't need to be powerblocks of course) is pretty nice. Especially if you have a foldable bench and an pullup and dip bar (having the same one you guys seem to have in the video ;-) which is pretty nice!).

  • i have a set of bowflex that's getting close to 20 years old i think.... having that adjustable option with a stand, is just too good. Not only best bang for the buck, but you don't spend half your break trying to add or remove weight during sets.

  • I bought 2 single-handed dumbbells, 2X15 kilos (can be extended), 1 year ago for 44 euros. Sand and cement with a plastic layer. I've been training with it at home ever since. I think it might be of medium quality. You can currently buy it for 37 euros (in Hungary). It's a shame that it wasn't that much 1 year ago, but that's what it is. Anyway, I'm satisfied with it. I don't throw it, because it can also break/damage relatively easily. But if you want to save, it's worth looking around. I'm just looking at it now, it's almost the same as the one you bought for 50 euros, just a little different.

  • A huge benefit of the adjustable metal dumbbells is progression. You can get ones with either a small or standard collar size and later on buy more plates separately in order to progress in weight. Eventually the dumbbell will get pretty big and unwieldy but that's kinda inevitable for very heavy dumbbells. If you get the screw on collar one, put some tape over the threads to prevent it from coming loose.

  • Adjustable dumbbells have taken me out of the gym and made working out at home so fun. Bought them second hand so they're cheaper, bought more stuff like a treadmill and after just about a year or so, I've made my money back if I spent it on my monthly gym membership

  • Really like my powerblocks and you can go up another 22.5kg with extension plates. They always feel more robust and safer with dynamic movement like snatches than Bowflex at least to me.

  • I swear by the normal iron adjustable dumbbells. Compact, durable, no stink and highly adjustable. Over the years I went from 10kg each to 30 each. I just bought additional plates. The only issue is the slight looseness. You gotta screw them hard and still the screws can again become loose after a few sets. But it's minor and it won't fall on your legs or anything. You can also buy those metal holding pins that are much more rigid and then there's no looseness.

  • I have adjustable dumbbells from Core Home Fitness. They cost about $350 and you twist the handle in the cradle to adjust them, just like the super expensive ones on the list you have. Unlike the expensive weights, though, it's not digital. And unlike the cheaper metal plate weights, mine actually have a comfortable ergonomic rubber grip, the plates don't rattle and move much, and you can very easily adjust weights anytime you want without the hassle of having to remove them or put them on one by one. Each dumbbell goes from 5-50 lb (adjustable for every 5 lb) which is more than enough for most people. There's no fear of the weights coming loose as I believe you can only twist when the dumbbells are in the cradle. The only negative is that it takes time for the weights to come apart easily, so when you first get them, it might not be easy to adjust. It'll get better after some uses. Another thing that if you don't purchase the weighted base, the lightweight plastic cradles tend to get picked up alongside the dumbbells if you ever use the full weight of the dumbbells, so you have to put a foot down on them. I guess I also have concerns that the higher tech the adjusting mechanisms are, the harder it will be to fix or replace if anything goes wrong.
