  • Grip strength is totally different to other exercises as it relies heavily on the tendons. You can't work your way up the same way you can with, for example, squats. You need to go for 1RM at the start, or you won't hit it that day. Also - these aren't captains of crush, so you can knock about 30-40lbs off these imitations. These cheap ones are the reason there's little resistance until you get to the last 2-3cm. Captains of crush grippers are consistent across the whole range of motion.

    • Do you think bending Iron can help with Grip strength?

      @nishijoichiro2515@nishijoichiro251518 сағат бұрын
    • @@nishijoichiro2515 It depends how you define grip strength because there's different factors. Pinching grip strength is more what rock climbers have. Crushing grip strength uses different muscles. Bending iron requires some grip to hold the bar but I imagine it's more of a bicep, shoulder and forearm exercise.

Captain of Crush is the gold standard i would say, but those also have different versions. The fat ones with same resistance as the smaller ones will be much easier simply because of less range of motion and the hand being stronger in the closing position of the fat one.

  • If you don't mind my saying, the thing with these grip strengtheners is that the angle to be closed is too wide and it takes knowledge of how to hold the gripper to best close it. It doesn't demonstrate greater grip strength to make the ends touch; it is purely a matter of technique. I use a 150 lb one made in China and it has a nice rubberized cushion so that the ends meet. For purposes of strengthening my grip, I am just fine with it. I don't need to become a collaborator with the COC economic machine or whichever producer is the latest one. Actually, I have an old gripper that has wooden handles and 4 springs to close. It is impossible for anyone to close the 4, so it is good for a lifetime.

  • The golden grippers are no name grippers, they should be easier to close than real grippers(CoC for example). It's a bit strange that not even the Stoltman brothers could close the 6, but maybe grippers are more of a specialised strength than I thought. I got myself cheap grippers from amazon, 150lbs to 250 lbs. Took a few weeks of training to close the 250lbs one, then I bought a CoC 2.5 which is 237.5lbs. Felt much harder and I couldn't close it. I wanna close a CoC 3 some day, but I got lazy with the gripper training.

    @i.c.wiener2750@i.c.wiener27505 ай бұрын
    • Yeah, grippers require a rudimentary level of technique in order to apply ones grip output to the gripper. These grippers are off-hand, similar to heavy grips and grip genie. If it starts at 50lbs then the last gripper would be similar to the COC 3 but easier because it'd narrower, as all the levels are compared to captains of crush. COC grippers are harder lb for lb then these grippers for sure. The Stoltman Brothers with a few weeks training can close the last level easily. They are some of the strongest guys on the planet and although closing the level 6 is impressive many men (regular strong guys) who train can close the level 6. Closing grippers isn't easy! And you can never predict ones grip strength by how they look as grip strength is determined a lot by ones history using their hands. Ive said this many times, Even a young teen who worked at his dad's mechanic shop breaking g rusty lug nuts all day will have a huge head start regarding grip output vs even a guy training traditionally at the gym. Not everyone can close big grippers but if you train hard and dedicated and if you are somewhat blessed with the strength bug you may be able to close level 6 with a narrower set within a few years. Levels above the 6 which would be 3.5 coc etc is a bit of a different level. The stoltman bros with a good year + training would get there too. They are proven to just have all around strength at the elite level all around. Very technique based and a great sport.

    @Edit.Eclipses@Edit.Eclipses9 ай бұрын
    • There is a small chance that Levan and Denis might be able to do it, however I know for a fact Devon wouldn't be able to do it. He did a video with Jujimufu and he was able to close a Captains of Crush 2.5, which is rated at 237 pounds, not even close to 300 pounds. The type of grip strength for arm wrestling is different to that of pure crushing strength. Brian Shaw could probably close it, and I am surprised no one has mentioned Khaled from Larry Wheel's channel, who closed a Captains of Crush 3.5 which is rated at 322 pounds.

  • I'm a little surprised how little grip strength some otherwise very strong people have. Though then again, I guess not many exercises train for this particular kind of grip strength. For comparison's sake, I am at the very low end when it comes to bench pressing, squats or dead lifting. I had a break of multiple years due to personal issues, so I've recently started again. However, I can do sets of 10-20 reps with a 55 kg (approx 121 pounds) gripper, and I think I could probably close that 150 pound #3 gripper in this video. So it's a little surprising that so many tap out at #4. I guess this particular type of grip strength really doesn't transfer to other exercises and vice versa. Interesting.
