    • @@MissionaryBushPilot That's the reason for the F in IMSAFE, right? Great video, thanks. I'm from PNG and it still amazes me how places like Yawan are only a few minutes by air from a major airport like Nadzab, but it would take days of walking. My favorite part of the whole video was the timelapse at the end, when you crossed the Ramu valley in about 3 seconds, went back into clouds, and then broke out of the clouds really low over the Bena Gap (or whatever gap that was)

  • I sometimes imagine an old time WWII fighter pilot suddenly appearing in your cockpit, in the right seat looking eyes wide towards all of those color screens. Imagine further, you suddenly finding yourself in a P-40. What enormous progress we have made. At least we still have pilots up front, for the time being.

    • Truth is that I have not really any grasp of just what a high degree of accomplishment I'm watching. I suspect that even other pilots with quite long careers in aviation have never encountered such challenges. I can confidently say that these are skills I couldn't master in a lifetime.   • We were always up at 4, prepping the plane. Load the clients, coffee, off the ground at 6:30 with any luck. Destination by 8 was usually the goal. Rent cars waiting on the tarmac… Day is done by 9:30. Not a bad life. Gave us all day to enjoy the surroundings.
