  • My friends, the Gillmore's, were thrilled to be able to meet you in PNG, Ryan. It sounds like God is doing an incredible work over there and I think it's great that your paths were able to cross. They described you as "friendly, professional, and spiritually minded" and I know you were an inspiration to Daniel Gillmore who also wants to become a bush pilot. God bless!

  • There are strips near my home in BC, where you ALWAYS land uphill ant finish by taxiing at full power to the top where you Immediately turn cross strip and hit the brakes. Takeoffs are thus a breeze, down hill. At another strip when the lake is high it floods the centre of the strip so you touch down on the first part and hop to the second part and take off in the same manner. At a Third strip, you approach over the lake and land straight into the mountain with no possibilty of a go around. When you get your Licence, you already have your Mountain Flying Endorsement.

  • Channeling happens when wind blows down an area with high terrain on both sides. If the terrain starts to close in (like flying down an ice cream cone), it is called funnelling. Most often you get both occurring at or around the same time as terrain features change. Good to see that you are paying attention to that detail while flying in the mountains - it can be very dangerous. Cheers - enjoyed your video - stay safe.

  • I shared your video with a group of Pilot friends and here is a comment from Steve who flies an RV8. “Tim posted a video a few days ago from the "Missionary Bush Pilot" KZhead Channel and silly me..... I watched. I was mesmerized. Ever since I have been watching them non-stop. I haven't slept, eaten or even gone to the bathroom (ok, I mean getting up and going to the actual bathroom room!) since my binge watching began. The chickens and cows haven't been fed, the kids are begging for some attention, and the wife..... let's not even go there! :) It's all TIM'S fault! The skills, professionalism and capabilities of this pilot simply amaze me. He's flying into some of the most remote, difficult landing strips in the world (Papua, New Guinea) and yet the ease and professionalism with which he handles all aspects of his flights.... flight planning, ATC communications, avionics, decision making, pure piloting skills, etc. to me is amazing. The last video that I watched was.... "The Most Dangerous Airport In the World Has Nothing on This Place". The one before that was "INSANE WEATHER]Unexpected White-Knuckle Flight" Watch at your own risk. If you get hooked and spend countless hours watching them, don't blame me.... blame TIM!

People warned me off because of the transport difficulties and the extremely dangerous weather conditions for flying. My undying respect for Tim and all pilots and medical staff navigating in Papua New Guinea. "57 across that hill." Cool, man. Nerves of steel and he knows what he's doing. Respect. It's really good to see so many of the Papua New Guinea indigenous folk working in these areas where before, there were practically none.
