  • NHTSA and EPA regulations are killing the ability for companies to provide reliable, durable 4x4's with equal or higher power than previous models... Even my 2017 tacoma was absurd, the first Toyota 4x4 I've ever owned where my stud welder for dent pulling would just melt through even on LOW with small pins! 🤦‍♂️ Every year mileage requirements go up, mandatory safety equipment and testing goes up... Really we've been past the point of no return of having no "real" 4x4's since roughly 2010... If only we had exemptions for REAL Toyota 4x4s like Australia and South Africa... Atleast Ford tried with the Raptor, and Dodge with the power wagon until the EPA necessitated the gas powered ecoboost and terrible transmission... Ford didn't have the best history of reliability before being hampered by having to pair up that combo to maintain the same power levels at a higher EPA spec'd MPG rating... And Dodge died as soon as FIAT took over... RIP Bronco owner's wallets is all I can say 😐 Thanks EPA 👍 now go give some more tax credits to Amazon and Walmart who import everything on cargo ships burning millions of gallons of unrestricted crude oil and low grade diesel so we can have landfills full of un-repairable, single use import products... Great "Green" initiative EPA 👏

  • One of the reason those beeps is so infuriating to me is that I know that as soon as you overuse a super annoying beep like that, eventually you learn to ignore them thereby rendering them not only useless, but dangerous. It's a "cry wolf" situation where when you really need the beep you'll have already ignored it.

    • In all Toyotas it’s annoying, I turned it off cause on the merge lanes for freeways, it would try to turn me back into the lane instead of merging. If you have the turning lights in, no problem but when you don’t, it forces you back into your lane. I hate the seatbelt reminder cause I have a child, and when she’s not with me sometimes, the car registers weight so it starts beeping and after a minute it’ll turn off, but seems now with the newer safety sense versions, they’re going to kill you with noises 😂

  • I’ve been wanting a Tundra for a couple of years. When the 2022 tundra came out, I told my wife it’s time to buy a 2021. That the New Tundras is not what I want.

    @ssgoblin@ssgoblin Жыл бұрын
  • Hey max, I hope you see this comment. So I have quite a bit of experience with these 22 tundras my friend jus got 2, a limited TRD Off-Road and he traded in his 2019 1794 for a 2022 TRD Pro, I have been test driving the limited for almost a month now. And to address some of your concerns, the truck does beep at you a lot but for most of these things you can simply just turn them off, like all the safer gadgets that freak out when you’re off-road, for example, lane centering assist etc, they all can be turned and they won’t bother you. Secondly the TRD Off-Road while it has the name off-road in it, it’s more of an appearance package as I have discovered, it doesn’t really make the truck any more off-road capable than a bone stock, I mean it adds the more off-road tires and crawl control but that’s about it, to really get the best out of a TRD-off-road it has to be lifted with better tires as my friend and I found out while taking it off-road bone stock, it scraped and banged on a lot of things, but once the lift kit went on it, it changed into a different truck, also the front bumper on these 22’s are pretty low to the ground for efficiency sake so if you don’t wanna scrape it, it’s most likely would have to be modified. For the android auto disconnecting, I have figured out that it mostly happenes when you wirelessly connect to it, so most of the time using the cable solves that issue, I’ve also had the same problem in a lot of BMW’s where android auto or apple car play just disconnected on me while I was using it, and switching to the wired connection helps, and the problem can be fixed with an OTA update. Regarding the check engine light, same thing happened to my friends Limited Off-Road, it came on while we were driving, tried to restart the truck that didn’t change anything, we took it into the dealership and they ran a scan on it, nothing came up, it happened to just be a glitch for us. So i would say you should try to run a diagnostic check to see what the problem may possibly be. I feel this is the case that happens with any first year vehicle, same thing happens when the previous Gen tundra came out, it had its own fair share of issues but they were all worked out in a year or 2, same thing goes for any brand really, Ford has had a bunch recalls on the new F-150, it’s what happens when you get an all new vehicle, essentially the customers are the beta testers which sucks cos customers who get the bad example have a soured experience of the brand. In the case of the tundra, I have noticed that the trucks who were made the earliest seem to have the most amount problems, while the latter made trucks, have less problems. I have seen people who have had nothing to say but good things about the tundra on KZhead and I’ve seen people who have had problems. I’m really sorry your truck hasn’t been making you happy, hopefully things would turn around. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the tundra I test drove for quite some time and I’m looking into getting one for myself l, preferably a TRD Pro, Capstone or 1794. I think the new tundra is still a great truck, it’s pretty darn fast for what it is, the interior is miles and miles better than the previous Gen, it rows more, which is very important to me and it’s a lot more comfortable than the last generation. I’ve had a lot of seat time in the last Gen and I can confirm that. I also think it looks better but that’s a controversial opinion 😂. People like to hate on the new thing especially on the internet which made me start to doubt the new trucks but once I test drove one, I fell in love.

Think about keeping one foot on the ground...and placing the truck in drive and trying to back up with your foot on the accelerator. Doesnt sound too darn safe to me! With the huge screen and the varieties of views that the back-up camera gives...you'd have to be a bonehead to not hook up a trailer. I do NOT have any of the beeping you are getting while you drive. To help you out, maybe try turning off the lane assist? That is the first thing I did. The ONLY time my truck beeps is when I am in reverse. Secondly I thought the automatic air-dam [under the bumper] was only on the Sport packages | not on the Off Road Packages [Mine does NOT have one]? Not saying you are incorrect- maybe its a limited trim level thing? I know you are pretty well versed in truck knowledge- this is more of a question to anyone that knows for certain. Seems like the truck definitely has some electronic issues that hopefully were resolved with software updates that were released. I had initially experienced issues with Apple CarPlay but were fixed with software updates. Seat belt warning is really annoying. Most new cars do the same thing though. I think his off road expectations of a stock vehicle are too high, but also his driving style seems to be causing him issue with newer vehicles. Get an older vehicle without safety technology, actually lift it and put on off road armor/tires, and these problems probably won’t occur. It would also be a lot cheaper than smashing trucks costing $60-90k

(this is a convenient, reliable tank for every day) After 2014, the tundra lost many of its important practical qualities. I was waiting for a new Tundra and now I am no longer a Toyota Tundra fan boy, I am looking around to see what other pickup truck I can buy
