After a year of having my Tundra, today I learned I can hold the handle to unlock all doors. I've been opening the driver door and unlocking my back doors if I was putting something in the back prior too. 😂
You can?! I’ve been doing the same thing!!!
Having my 2023 Platinum for only a few weeks now, both the rear view mirror cam & the reverse side mirror back-up moves are very helpful. Thank you!
Hey Tim GREAT content!! Still LOVE my new Tundra best truck I’ve ever owned!! Keep the info coming.
I was told by everyone that I don't have remote start.... I just walked outside and tested the secret method, and it worked. Thank you!
Thanks for this interesting video Tim! I don’t own a 2022 Tundra but it’s definitely on my short list to check out in the near future.
Tim...you are great! Turning off the Lane Assist is my favorite but I learned about the mirrors too...my cars used to have that when I was driving luxury cars...Terrific!
Just got the new 2023 Tundra and love the last tip with the backup mirrors. Thank you!
Thanks for tips and tricks! Great stuff!
Thank you so much. Just got my Tundra yesterday and I love the drop down mirror feature. Had that on another truck and have missed it. New follower...
Reverse mirror at the very end was super helpful! Thanks Tim!
Did not know about the mirrors! Thank you!
Love the video, i just got a 2023 tundra trd pro, so glad i waited to upgrade!
My favorite feature is when you're stopped at a stop sign and when you go and hit the gas nothing happens... so you press it a little harder and your neck snaps back as you launch the truck.
Brooooooooooooo WTF ITS NOT JUST ME! Why? How lame is that
Omg I thought it’s only truck this happens.
I too had this, especially from a cold start. The RPMs are too high at first and they need to settle down before taking off. I'm very disappointed in Toyota! I feel like they designed a truck with no experience every building a truck or vehicle before! They can do better!
That’s awesome! Thanks for the info
Just got a 2023 platinum a couple days ago…this is incredibly helpful. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. Some great tips
I wanted to add that it appears yet another feature unavailable to Canadian TRD Pro owners is the ability to use the camera in the rear viewer mirror. Not an option apparently. Just like no tow mirrors. Weird.
I’ll be picking up my new Tundra next week! That being said, I learned something new about my wife’s 2020 Highlander thanks to you! I had idea you could hold the handle for an extra second to unlock all doors. She prefers to only have one unlock, but loves that she has the ability to unlock all the doors now without having to open the driver door!
I have had my used Tundra 6 months and watching your video I found I have REMOTE START! Yay. I think it is because I subscribed to Toyota and Sirius when I got the truck back in March. The dealer did not tell me this was an option. I guess it is a secret.
I enjoy the brake hold button. It allows you to use the start stop feature alittle easier. Dont have to hold the padal down. While at a light
Good video Tim. Leaned a few things myself.
My 2019 Tundra (1794) has that mirror feature as well. Something to look forward to as I look to purchase the new Sequoia. Great vid Tim!
Very cool find with the mirror in reverse. Thanks
Hey thanks for all the info
Like the mirror feature on my 2022 Tundra. Have it in my 2019 Avalon but didn’t know you could adjust the position when engaged.
Thanks for lane assist & lane centering assist tips .
Didn’t know about the holding the door handle to unlock all doors. Thanks for the info!
Auto start! Thanks for teaching me that. Really cool.
Well, look at that. I just found out I have remote start from watching this video. Thanks man!!✌️👏🏻
Another good video 👍
What I learned from this video is if you want to make something a “secret”, write it in a book. I just bought a new 1794 Tundra and as I do with all new vehicle purchases I’ve made, I read all of the manuals that came with the truck (because I’m a child of the 80’s) so I already knew all of these. Seeing the attention span of the next generation and their lack of any desire to gain knowledge through reading means we (humans) are doomed. Kinda reminds me of that movie “Idiocracy” and not in a good way.
Give it 10 more years and we will be living the movie…..
I just got the 2023 tundra 1794 and had no idea about the door un/lock features, let alone the secret starter feature on the fob. Kudos!!
This video was so needed
You can change the door unlock settings in the old Tundra as well - I changed mine in my 2020.
You certainly put together some good information in this video, fortunately for me I was already ahead of the game and understood all of the tips and tricks and secrets you were showing us. There was one that you have not showed us yet and I thought I would point it out to you in case you didn't know. I learned this recently on a Lexus from a friend of mine. When you push the traction control button it removed some of the traction control, however if you push and hold it for an extended period of time it completely disables all traction control systems. This is just a little tidbit that is not commonly known. Thanks again for your great review and video, your videos are excellent! Keep up the good work!
Interesting. Thanks for that tip!
This was the longest useless comment. Thanks
That was a really good video now I love more my truck 😆
Tim, I read the manuals. I did not know about the touch and hold on the driver’s door handle to unlock all. Nice.
Weird, it points that feature out in the digital manual -my physical manual is still shrinkwrapped.-
❤ awesome tips
Great video any issues with reliability with your truck?
I had that mirror feature on my Lexus and was missing it. Thanks!
The lexus ES-350 has the same thing with the mirrors I love it
Thanks for the video Tim. Just seeing this now and I didn't know holding the handle would unlock all the doors - thank you! (wish it was a bit faster though). Not sure if you know, but you can also lock all the doors by touching the outside handle (not gripping it) but just touching the side of the handle (that has a small groove on it). It will lock the vehicle and fold in the side mirrors (if enabled). Also why do you say Toyota will NOT fix/update turning off the engine when it's remote started? I find that very annoying and people say they are supposed to fix it. I hope they do!
The last one was super cool.
I own a 22 platinum and had no idea about holding the door, that's awesome.
Thanks for the information! Is there a setting that if the turn signal is activated the truck will automatically display the camera on that side of the vehicle for further blind spot monitoring?
Hey Tim! Love the content and insight and the redesigned Tundra. I’m the original owner of an ‘07 Tundra and shopping the new design. Do you know when Toyota will release the specifications on the ‘23 Tundra? Thanks!!
Already released. Here is the video I did on it back in May: kzhead.info/sun/fqiJmKedboSogY0/bejne.html
That seat feature is a patent from years ago. Finally see it come to play. It's supposed to transfer from vehicle to vehicle, so the setting stays with you wherever you drive Toyotas... If I recall, the patents says that when supported by that vehicle, the seats automatically adjust for your profile based on that vehicle's dimensions. I thought there was also something about how it optimizes visibility and safety as well...But I'm sure that'll come in 2050...
8:30 - the auto camera is meant stopping and help you with parking. It's a godsend. I'm sure other makes have it, too. It's activated when slow speed around parking lots and stoplights, etc... It goes away after you pick up speed.
My 2020 tacoma Trd Pro has this and I love it with slow pets around the house.
Remote start from the fob has been available since 2018, unlocking all 4 doors setting has been available since 2018 most of the things u said that was new on the tundra it’s actually started with the 2018 camry and 2019 avalon. But great video good sir!
The mirror thing apparently has existed on most vehicles for years. We’re all just discovering in 2023… The door-hold to unlock other doors is new to me. I like that! Thanks!! Surprised you didn’t mention the “dot-matrix” morse code or the active air spoiler and how to activate it manually.
the jailbreaking is interesting, but not surprising by that much. this is a rocketship compared to my current almost 20 year old hooptie economy car. seems for sure i'll need to cozy up with a cup of coffee and the owners manual
Tim- curious if you have experienced same thing I have. I get snow pasted on radar sensor if weather is just right. this creates a warning on my dash and warning won't go away (until I get out and wipe it clean). winding what to do about it...have you heard other tundra guys having same prob? thanks
I'm currently choosing between a new F-150 and Tundra, and your videos have been very helpful. Any idea if this infotainment system bug has been worked out on the new models?
Yes, they have been updating the system.
You just saved my ears from hearing my wife complaining about her 2023 Tundra limited side view mirror not lowering when truck is reversing. Thank you very much!!!
Where did you buy the foot pedals on your truck? I just bought a 1794 three days ago. I watched your initial videos and was concerned but hopefully they fixed most of the issues. Fingers Crossed!
i tried the reverse mirror setting trick on my SR5 for like 20 minutes but couldn’t get it to work. i’m wondering if this is an option on limited and up and not SR5?
thanks for the back up cancel off tip.. First time backing up my boat trailer and I looked like an idiot on the boat ramp
Make the steering wheel vibrate instead of annoying lane departure tone is a godsend on this truck.
Also where the Automatic high beam light button is mine has a small button wheel that can scroll up or down from 0-5. It controls hiw low or how high the hes light beam shines.
First I love your videos. I have the Off road Limited ex cab My dealer has a guy specifically trained to show you all those features. My dealer is Toyota of Scranton The remote start cutoff, when you open the door, is an anti theft feature. So no one can steal it when you remote start. I also just learned about the 12V outlet behind the screen. It's great for different devices you may want to use up front. Keep up the great videos! 👍
The remote start shutoff is one of the dumbest things they've ever done. I hate it.
I’ve heard that excuse regarding the remote start. It makes no sense. You have the key and the doors remain locked until you open it. I would like them to show us the theft statistics for “traditional” remote start that supposedly justifies their configuration. I love my Toyotas but this is just dumb.
Shut off is not because of a theft deterrent. The vehicle is locked when it's running on auto-start. Some one can't just come walking along and jump into it and drive away. There is also. presumably, fob proximity detection like on the vehicles we've owned. It can be running, but if the fob isn't with the vehicle and someone tries to drive away, all sorts of chimes go off, speed is limited to crawling speed (no fast get aways,. Ha.) or the vehicle won't even let you shift out of park if the fob isn't immediately by or in the vehicle.
Also if you step on the brake it shuts off if you don't have key (fob)
How to turn of front camera when comming up too stop sign?? thanks so much remote start and the RV mirror
I just learned my truck has a remote start! This was amazing. - 2023 Limited TRD Tundra. CRAZY. I like the idea that it shuts off when the door opens, so people don't take your truck (I park outside)
Only for a year then it goes away unless u get a subscription
Thank you
I was excited for the mirror function since I’m always using them when i back up. But I guess it doesn’t work for SR5 TRD Sport 4x4 package 😢
What aftermarket Remote Start do you recommend for a 2024 Tundra Platinum?
I interpreted this video as Tim's wife took over the vehicle and she read the manual. Am I correct?
LOL. Close.
@@Pickuptrucktalk oh... the kids then.🤣
Hahahaahh. That’s funny!!
Lolol
I don’t drive much at night but it took me a while to realize the side view mirrors auto darken to decrease headlight glare., I expected the rear view to do this but not the side views
Got mine today!
It's insane that a 60k+ truck will require a subscription for fukin remote start....
Hey tim that features it is been there for a while. You can do you key unlock all door or by touching the door handle same thing
hello can you please make a video about the lights on the dashboards, I have a little car green color with a normal sigh, I dont know what is it, O activated some way and I dont know how to take it off, thanks for your videos I love them all, God bless you
Just heard through a Tennessee dealer that Toyota will be pushing an OTA update that will change the feature options for remote start, allowing for the engine to remain running when opening the door. It is available on 2023 models and will be pushed to most 2022 models including the Tundra. I can’t wait. 😊
I hope this is true ! I thought it was only my truck at first lol
22 Lexus NX remote start will remain ON after unlocking so OTA fix for Tundra could be true
Interesting... I just tried this on a 2023 last weekend and it still shut off. Maybe that truck was made before the update
I look forward to trying this on the ‘23 I got last week. Hopefully it has taken effect by now.
I tried the lane assist by hitting the button once & it works as it should. But if I hit the button a twice it just turns the lane assist off . Tried holding the button down & it goes off. Im not sure if my 24' Tundra Limited w/ TRD pkg. has the lane centering assist . Will check window sticker & manual to see if my model has it.
Just bought my 2024 Limited Tundra 2 weeks ago and thanks to this video, I learned something new. What I found interesting was the key fob. I did not know that they can remote start your vehicles. I currently have an active trial period on my Toyota Connect App so my key fob works and I even tested it once. However, I tried it on my friend's 2023 SR5 Tundra today and it also works on his. One thing is that, he does NOT have any active Toyota Connect on his iPhone at all and it still works. However, it is not consistent. I tried it over 10+ times and only manages to start it up 2 times. I'm not sure why that is but it is an interesting thing.
10:25 I notice you don't have the headlight adjustment knob. You must have the premium LED auto-leveling headlights?
I'll have to check again. I thought it was a turn dial.
4:00 I have a 2020 TRD Pro, My keyfob remote start stopped working when my Toyota Connect app subscription ended. Took the truck to the dealer, as I thought the keyfob should work separate from the app, was told that they couldn't do anything. Installed a Compustar remote start for $100 that works with my factory fob. I know this didn't happen to everyone, but I know several others that had the same issue. Subscription services, boooo!
What kind of the compustar remote start did u installed ?
@@amanaseboy - literally the cheapest one. Not sure of the model but it was around $100. I think it was Compustar Pro R3
@@303MoTo oh okay, thanks for letting me know.
I do enjoy the key fob trick. Thank you! I did find out about the backing alarm and slamming into park. I have been backing into my garage no issues. One day it decided it wanted to be extremely sensitive and when it slammed into park and I thought I ran into something. Annoying but thank you for the tip to turn off the sensors!
Can you point me to this video to learn more about this?
I left mine on but turned the sensitivity down. I find that they can be over sensitive even when on normal. I love how many options we have these days.
Great video Tim. I just purchased a Capstone for way more money than I would like to admit after the "market adjustment" (really the extortion fee), But I do love the Truck and performance with the Hybrid engine. I agree Toyota is backwards when it comes to tech. I also own a BMW X7 2020 and the voice assistant leaves you understanding how much catching up Toyota needs to do....they are in the dark ages on this technology and most I would say. Lets see what the next few years have in store for me with this Tundra.....
Toyota, they are not in the dark. They are controlling the market and will coming out slow and later.
No worries. Same here. We all over paid
The infotainment screen is because of the frame rate of the monitor and your camera. Try shooting at a frame rate that isn't a multiple of the infotainment center frame rate. The same things happens with lights. It's the same effect that makes helicopter blades look like they aren't spinning in films.
My 2015 Santa Fe Sport has that mirror feature. It’s so you can see the curb while parallel parking. Hardly cutting edge but a nice feature on a big truck.
Just got a '24 1794 and still trying to figure out how to display tire pressures. Manual only says it can be done but gives no instructions. Crazy. Good tip on holding the door handle to unlock all doors!
the last one was my fav Shhhh Feature. Does the passenger side mirror tilt downward as well?
Can confirm
Yes, both.
Weird. The driver's door vs 4 door unlock setting was available in the settings in all of my tundras since 2017.
Can you send some link for the remote break in?
I can't even describe in words how much I despise the lane assist.
Nice video….how much does this truck cost and do you think $69500 for the platinum, white, 4wdr with the running power boards is a good deal?
Good video by good KZheadr. That said, It still drives me bonkers that Toyota can add in all this bloat and still skip front recovery hooks or an outlet that exceeds 400 watts, you know, stuff that a person that actually needs a pickup will actually want and use...
Curious how well the lane assist functions work in heavy rain, icy, or dark conditions. Drove a Ford rental with a similar function but it didn’t work when I needed it most - in heavy rain at night.
It can’t work in those conditions.
and I find with my truck it doesn't like dotted lines usually.... it won't correct. and sometimes the lane assist/lane centering shoots me to the wrong side of the line(other lane)......
70K for a Truck is crazyness
Getting the Carista App will unlock more features. Like holding the unlock button down will roll down all the windows and open the sunroof (have to keep holding). You can also set it to tilt the passenger mirror down for reversing. Lots of different things.
does the gen 2 app work with gen 3? i don't see new model on their website yet
Yeah too bad it doesn't tackle the two worst issues the truck has. Which is the engine turning off when the door is opened from remote start, and not being able to permanently disable the engine off at idle function without pushing the button every single time you enter the vehicle.
Your seat position moves and the car reverts to the settings in your profile because of the different key fob though right? Chip shortage means I'm waiting on my second key fob.
Tim, I just purchased a 23 Platinum Tundra, like it so far. After the purchase I fine there's negative comments about this truck. I guess everybody has their own opinion. Your video was very informative. I have a question that I cannot get answered from the owner's manual concerning the folding mirrors. With the rocker switch in the middle position, when locking from the inside, the mirrors will not fold in. Same when using the key fob. When locking from the outside, using the doorhandle, they'll fold in same as when using the phone app. Is there a secret to getting them to fold from locking from the inside and using the fob?
Sorry, trying to understand this. Why would you use the fob from inside the truck?
@@Pickuptrucktalk After going back and reading what was posted, I meant to say "from outside the truck using the fob" but I was mistaken. It works according to design. Thanks for the reply though.
Still works after the trial had my Tacoma for 3 years and still starts with remote
In Canada the limited has the rear brake camera, but no digital review camera! Toyota........
Kept waiting to hear about a “secret” feature. All I heard was regular features of the truck. 😊
The mirrors!!!
You are very smart.
Heads up on the Platinum you can set to move the seat and steering wheel since it is telescopic. Also, thanks for the mirror tip as I miss that from my Ram.
Have you figured out how to put your screen in dark mode yet? It looks cool
Do you know if the tow mirrors have that same Linked Mirror Function?
I don’t. Sorry.
@@Pickuptrucktalk No problem...I'll let you know if I find out!!
@@Pickuptrucktalk I'm thinking they do not as it's not listed in the brochure "Black heated power auto-dimming outside tow mirrors with turn signal and blind spot warning indicators, and power-folding and power-extend features"
I just picked up my 23 last weekend. I'm looking forward to trying lane-centering. I'm thinking it will be helpful for towing. I find with my wider trailers, I'm always checking my mirror to make sure I'm in my lane.
Just put 1000 miles on a 23 Capstone. I found when towing the lane keep stuff is almost dangerous on the tundra. It induces sway on the trailer. Also the lane keep assist is worse. It is very last minute on the adjustment so it pushes back into the lane way to hard, or not at all.
