  • I grew up on the south side Grand Rapids Metro politan area between 131 division 44th & 54th 41 years & a lot has changed since the 80s yes im old enough to remember when the amway grand hotel was the tallest building in the city & lucky enough to have riden the monorail at herpelsymers (ill never be able to spell that name right) which sadly is now the 🚓 station.

  • Not really much to see as far as "hoods". Grand rapids is probably the cleanest larger city in the state. There's some really grimey parts you missed but not much of them at all. Was much more hoods back in the early 00's but gentrification has been going really strong for a while now.

    • I was born, raised and worked in GR for over 40 years. In the last 15 years or so, crime has gotten worse in the neighborhood being shown, because of people moving in from the Detroit/Flint area's. There are still quite a few nice area's in the city, which haven't been affected, yet. I retired and moved to my rural Northern Michigan acreage, where crime is almost nonexistent. Some of the worst crime area's in GR, to name a few, are called: The Black Hills, Burton Heights, South East Community, Roosevelt Park, and West Grand.
