SPECIAL THANKS to Jack's Barn (www.jacksbarn.com) and Darren Anthony for letting us shoot in their beautiful rustic wedding venue! And a very special thanks to Paul Jacobson from Avatar Productions, Pierre Rueda, and production assistants Dylan and Remy for their video expertise.
Hi guys! Sorry for the long wait since our last video. As you can tell, I'm super pregnant (we were lucky to get this video finished without me going into labor!) but we really wanted to film something for you before the baby came. Ave Maria is another piece we perform a lot at weddings, and just like Pachelbel's Canon it works really beautifully on cello and piano. As always, if you'd like to play this one yourself, our arrangement is available from Musicnotes.com (bit.ly/3bMSzpY). It's also up on Spotify so you can add it to your wedding playlists! 😊
Brooklyn Duo:
Marnie Laird, piano
Patrick Laird, cello
SUBSCRIBE to our other channel, BROOKLYN CLASSICAL! bit.ly/1MVKVEl
Brooklyn Duo uses Earthworks microphones (earthworksaudio.com/)
Patrick performs exclusively on Pirastro strings (www.pirastro.com).

Ave Maria Gratia plena
Maria Gratia plena
Maria Gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus

Benedicta tu in mulieribus
Et benedictus
Benedictus fructus, fructus ventris

Ave Maria
Santa Maria Mater dei
Ora pro nobis pecatoribus
Ora, ora pro nobis
Ora ora pro nobis pecatoribus
Nunc et in hora mortis
In hora mortis nostrae
In hora mortis, mortis nostrae
In hora mortis nostrae
(Ave Maria)
BROOKLYN DUO BIO:
Founded in 2014, Brooklyn Duo has quickly established itself as one of today’s most successful classical crossover ensembles. Through its creative arrangements and live video performances, the piano and cello duo has garnered a huge following, with over 900,000 KZhead subscribers, and over 150 million streams annually on platforms such as Spotify and Pandora Radio.
In 2014, the couple arranged and recorded two pop covers and released them on KZhead. Shakira noticed the duo’s cover and promoted it to her 130 million-plus fan base, saying: “We're loving Brooklyn Duo's piano/cello cover of Empire! Great work guys." The boost that resulted from that exposure and the positive response they were getting on KZhead encouraged the couple to continue creating videos. (Other notable shout-outs since then include ones from Taylor Swift, a-ha and Pearl Jam.)
Today, Marnie and Patrick have released over 100 videos on their Brooklyn Duo KZhead channel and 9 albums of covers, spanning artists from The Beatles to Metallica to Ariana Grande. In 2016, the couple started a second KZhead channel, Brooklyn Classical, with the goal of introducing classical music to a larger audience through high quality, live video performances. Brooklyn Classical often hosts high-profile guest artists, including the world-renowned Dover and Escher string quartets, percussionist Ivan Trevino and cellist Cicely Parnas.
Popular classical music stations Classic FM and WQXR regularly share Brooklyn Duo’s music on their social media pages, with Classic FM calling the duo “masters of the artfully planned pop cover.” Their music has also been featured on several television shows, including Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, and America's Got Talent.

    • oh! You haven't had your baby yet! How exciting to finally be so close! I've had four boys and one girl, all grown and on their own now. It's an adventure, for sure! All the best. You both play so beautifully. I 'm enjoying going through all the videos. Thank you! I just bought a cello and am learning to play.....at 63 years old! I won't likely live long enough to get super good at it, but I'm enjoying the journey.

Welcome back from not hiding and we all love you with a brotherly love abounding. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God.

  • I hope all three parties involved, mom, dad, and baby, realized this is no accident. This is poetry in motion! Patrick looking at his pregnant wife stroking the keys with such elegance while he lays out the solo in unfathomable language is solemn! There is a God who made such a beautiful creation as the family! Mercy!

Thank you, for ALL that you do through your MUSIC & Wonderful & Exciting personalities!! Much Admiration & cheers from Sherry Todd, in southern Ontario, Canada!!! I played the violin, many yrs ago, in our schools FREE music program, grades 7 & 8. We had 1st & 2nd Violins, Violas, Cellos & Bass violins. Man, I Loved it so Very much, but unfortunately, I had to stop do it NOT being offered in high school & to my families financial status. I went on to a very rewarding Nursing career, for over 30 yrs. But oh, how I MISSED my Violin & the other Strings!!! God Bless you both & your Adorable Family!

    • they have too much time to flirt around after their performance lol

      @lucasqin7120@lucasqin71203 жыл бұрын
    • Yes - they don't FLIRT with each other, they make eye contact often and lovingly, and the connection between them plays a part in how much I love the beautiful music they make together. I have complained multiple times that Hauser needs to wash his hair, quit breathing loudly during performances, stop doing pervy weird things with his mouth and lips, stop moving his feet and legs all over like he has to go potty, and put some damned shoes on! Even just socks are ok - but to see a man formally dressed in a suit out in the wilderness with nothing on his feet - it's all so distracting! And his ego constantly upstages his music. The Brooklyn Duo is a class act without being pretentious. And they are so dependable with the integrity and quality that they bring to everything they produce together, on their own, or with other musicians. They create profound beauty. And on a lighter note, they each have a quirky little habit that is so endearing. They are the real deal, in great detail, and I look forward to every performance.

  • Beautiful! When I was in High School I sang in a multi-church choir and in one of our concerts a man sang Ave Maria. He was and older black man who had a rich, gravelly, "whiskey bass" voice (although in his case I'm pretty sure it was gin - I sat next to him in the choir). Even in rehearsal it was hard for me to hear it without being deeply moved. Your performance here is of that same depth. Over 40 years have gone by and my mind can still play that wonderful music for me. May your music be blessing others 40 years from now.

  • 5 years ago when I was in high school I found them by chance. Until I saw their videos I didn't even know what is cello! The wish of me and my close friend was to be like them. I started to play the piano. Brooklyn duo and piano guys were my inspirations. I still remember how excited we were when they answered the comment my friend left under their videos. If we return to today: My friend couldn't afford cello and cello lessons but he still wants to learn. And he will. I'm about to finish my second year at the conservatory now. I'm so excited to be a musician like them. It feels great to look back at where everything started five years ago. The thing that I want to say is: The music you make is amazing. Your music inspired me, my friend, and I'm sure a lot of people as well. It changed my life and I am grateful to it. It was more than art for me. Me and my friend, we love you! ❤❤❤

  • As a cellist who has often played this piece for weddings and funerals, let me say this recording is simply gorgeous. For some reason, the sheet music I learned it on is transposed into D. In this recording, keeping it in the original Bb allows for beautiful contrast -- the first part is kept entirely on the D string for a gorgeous sound, and then the second time through it is played in the upper octave, for a completely different but equally beautiful sense of the music. What struck me most is how it is truly played like a prayer. Thank you for sharing!

  • Breathtaking and Magnificent. A most fitting and emotional expose on Schubert’s inspired composition. One only needs to read the Magnificat to feel the extraordinary beauty of her words. “My soul doth magnify the Lord”.
