Hi guys! Sorry for the long wait since our last video. We've been busy recording tons of new stuff and we're excited to share it all with you very soon!
Some of you know that we occasionally play for weddings. As you can imagine, we get a LOT of requests for Canon in D, and we discovered that there were no good arrangements available anywhere for piano and cello! Hard to believe given its popularity. So we decided to make our own! We tried to stick as closely to the original as possible (which was written for three violins and basso continuo), and we performed it not at a snail's pace so the bride can actually make it down the aisle without putting everyone to sleep. 🙊(Yeah, we said it! Nobody likes a slow processional!) Also, the number one complaint about this piece from cellists is always how booooring it is to play because they literally have to play the same 8 bass notes over and over for the entire piece. Problem solved with this arrangement because the cello never has to play the bass! 🙌(The piano does, but we get lots of other fun stuff too so it's ok!) So for all you musicians out there playing weddings, we hope you enjoy playing this arrangement a little more than the ones you were used to...You can get it from www.musicnotes.com. 😊Be sure to let us know in the comments if you do!

BROOKLYN DUO BIO:
Founded in 2014, Brooklyn Duo has quickly established itself as one of today’s most successful classical crossover ensembles. Through its creative arrangements and live video performances, the piano and cello duo has garnered a huge following, with over 800,000 KZhead subscribers, and over 150 million streams annually on platforms such as Spotify and Pandora Radio.
In 2014, on a whim, the couple arranged and recorded two pop covers and released them on KZhead. Amazingly, Shakira noticed the duo’s cover and promoted it to her 130 million-plus fan base, saying: “We're loving Brooklyn Duo's piano/cello cover of Empire! Great work guys." The boost that resulted from that exposure and the positive response they were getting on KZhead encouraged the couple to continue creating videos. (Other notable shout-outs since then include ones from Taylor Swift, a-ha and Pearl Jam.)
Today, Marnie and Patrick have released over 100 videos on their Brooklyn Duo KZhead channel and 9 albums of covers, spanning artists from The Beatles to Metallica to Ariana Grande. In 2016, the couple started a second KZhead channel, Brooklyn Classical, with the goal of introducing classical music to a larger audience through high quality, live performances. Brooklyn Classical often hosts high-profile guest artists, including the world-renowned Dover and Escher string quartets, percussionist Ivan Trevino and cellist Cicely Parnas.
In 2017, Marnie and Patrick partnered with Carnegie Hall and Ensemble Connect to produce a cover of a-ha’s “Take On Me”. The video went viral and garnered millions of views in just a few months. Popular classical music stations Classic FM and WQXR regularly share Brooklyn Duo’s music on their social media pages, with Classic FM calling the duo “masters of the artfully planned pop cover.” Their music has also been featured on several television shows, including Grey's Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars.

You guys are beautiful 😍 never fail to amaze me💖
Congratulations on your beautiful arrangement and the originality portrayed by both of you in this popular Canon. There were some glorious harmonies and NOT a boring note in any part (which, as you rightly say, could well have happened!). Patrick's Cello playing was superb and, as always, Marnie your piano collaboration was also superb. Bravo and many thanks to you both with best wishes and love from Mary, Dublin, Ireland xxx
Love this song so much...and this wedding version so romantic
PS Forgot to say that I LOVE your setting! Also, I've listened again and I particularly love the harmonies and phrasing at 2.30; 3.03 and 4.25 .... Well Done on a Great Arrangement. Mary, Dublin Ireland xxx
Cello always sounds better than violin. Nice version.
This music is centuries old. Johann pachelbel never knew that 339 years later, people would hear his song wirelessly on handheld fast electronic calculating machines. He has gained immortality through his work.

My father walked me down the aisle to this almost 14 years ago and he and I both bawled like a baby. This song pulls at my heart strings in a way I can’t explain. My father is no longer with us, but every time I hear Canon in D I close my eyes and I can picture my arm in his as he gave me away to my husband. You guys are just perfection.
We used this song in our wedding also. That was 27 years ago & everytime I hear it, it takes me back to our wedding day when my father in law gave his daughter away to me & we became man & wife.

This masterpiece will forever remain. We are in 2024 and I still enjoy it 😊❤

i was merely guessing that they were married because of how both of them delivered the piece with so much chemistry. and then i saw this comment. good to know they’re a couple.
This version could stop a war.

You misunderstand human psychology, and how governments manipulate it: It's more likely be played while showing all 'OUR' dead soldiers and incite MORE war and hate. If 'leaders' want war, peons can't stop them...

As a cello player I am very happy to see the cello playing the melody because I feel as if us cello players with the prettier instrument gets stuck behind everyone else and we rarely get melody. Glad to see that is cellist finally get a time to prove that we are more than that.
Coda S. So true 100% agree
Same!!! I'm a young cello player and I think its time for a less traditional approach about who gets to play the melody
Try playing viola!
Cello always has been and always will be one of my favorite instrument. It is so soothing, beautiful and profound. It may sounds cliche as hell but it's the first time I've heard the Cello suite n1 by Bach that I fell in love with it. It never left me since. But I feel you, it's nice to hear the cello as the star of the piece :D I'm a (mediocre) clarinette player so my instrument doesn't have a great exposure either ahah.
At least your not a viola

This is my favorite of all the renditions... because the melody and lovely, lovely counterpoint are not drowned in orchestral settings, and, as well, the arrangement is wonderful. Added to that is watching the interchange between the players who are loving what they're doing. Thank you.

My mother was a piano teacher. Since learning in college that Here Comes The Bride was written as a joke in Midsummers Nights Dream, I refused to walk to it. I chose this as was always one of my favorite pieces my mother played for weddings.
My parents used to play this song in my room when I was a baby and I’d fall asleep to it (around 2-4 years old) Years later I picked up piano as a random hobby and got pretty good at it. One day came across this song and it was the easiest song I’ve ever learned (despite it not being easy) and I never really figured out why it made me feel so warm to play it and hear it until one day my mom heard me play it and told me they’d play it for me to help me fall asleep. I guess it was so deep in my subconscious that it came right back up when I re listened. Just couldn’t figure out why I loved it so much.

This is the most beautiful version anyone has ever rendered of the Canon. It's absolutely breathtaking. If I could teleport you guys to have you play at my wedding, I would.
I agree. It’s so beautifully stirring. It moves me to tears. Visually it’s stunning. Love it
Look up SARS lutka.
It's nice. But most beautiful? There are thousands of versions of this famous piece, could not say this is the definitive.
@@gSlover4reel How good a music is based on someone heart, not from a global rating
@@somethingamongthebytes9228 who cares about global ratings? The point is calling something the most this or that if they have not experienced the vast plethora of all that is available is questionable at best
Found myself keeps coming back here every time when the world became to much to bear. Thank you for the beautiful music
lton yea, especially with the coronavirus outbreak lately. Hope there’s a cure for it and the virus stops spreading
@@arisuaozora they should play this at my funeral if i should die to it

This orchestra is brilliant you can hardly tell their music from the originals. The harmonica theme sends a chill down my spine, while jills theme brings me close to tears. Well done to the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, I like everything you do. I hope one day I'll get to see you live.
Hearing Pachelbel's Canon in D played so brilliantly, is heavenly. It's so relaxing and also up lifting. It's like I'm floating on cloud nine.
My favorite song ever written. I first heard it played by a string quartet during a midnight Christmas Eve service. That was in 1977. I was 16 years old. When the piece finished, everyone sat in silence, then the church chimes rang 12 times for midnight. Absolutely magical and other worldly. I felt like I had a glimpse of heaven on earth for a brief moment.
That’s beautiful :)
EXACTLY what I thought when I first heard it! So beautiful it brings tears to my eyes. :)

This has to be one of the most overplayed classical pieces in existence, but it gets me right in the chest like every time 😭
Makes no sense why its played so much. At least the vanilla version.
@@1014p I mean...it's pretty well cemented itself as a traditional wedding song, and people get married all the time both in real life and in movies/TV, so I don't think it's terribly surprising that Canon in D gets played a lot.
i even like playing the boring cello part while listening to the rest of the group.
@@1014p Because it is beautiful.
@@1014p Because it is so simple, but perfect at the same time in the way the two parts interweave together. Its actually one of the songs I love both listening to and playing. If you have not heard it, I say give a listen to Comptine d'un auto ete from the Amelie soundtrack. Its just a simple, beautiful piano arrangement.
I love this version - I’m getting married next year and I would love to walk down the aisle to this version - so modern but true to the original piece -lovely to hear the cello taking the lead with the tube for once! You guys play with such passion and it shows!
Ceretainly a most appropriate music piece for the wedding procession, upbeat, upspirited; the cello is such a soothing instrument, it sure is well-suited for the happy, peaceful occasion.
This may be the most beautiful version I've ever heard of this piece
Every time I think that, I listen to one of the others and they're all so hauntingly beautiful, it's hard to imagine this song sounding bad no matter what it's played on.
I agree, wholeheartedly! It's stunningly beautiful. ❤
these are 2 of my favorite instruments so... same
Does anyone else randomly tears up watching this or is it me? This is moving.
You are stressing yourself too much, sometimes it's ok to let it be, let it go

Every time, and I've watched this video countless times. The music plus the interplay between the musicians is sweet, tender, and filled with longing and hope. 😢
Yes
✋
This was played at my gramps funeral. Fast forward 35 years and I still remember it like yesterday. Miss you grandad! 😢
For me this is the greatest Masterpiece of classical Musik ever composed.
The guy on the cello is the boss. No hesitation, just conviction .
Femenists will destroy u😂
You are spot on in your view. He is just a master of the cello, and i have never heard Canon in D played this way. Beautiful

Thank you, pachelbel, for this gift to humanity on behalf of all generations
I didn’t know anything about Pachelbel Canon as a classic piece until I watched Ordinary People in the early 80’s. This was the theme song that perfectly fitted the drama of the movie. Since then, it is one of my favorite classical pieces and the rendition here was totally wonderful and truly heartfelt. Nice job guys!
Technically, it's Baroque, not classical, but you're completely right about it being beautiful.♥️
I didn´t know anything about Pachelbel Cannon until I went to a one wedding....🤭🤭🤭
Yes! It’s how I came to know the song. And, it’s how the song fell into a new place of renewed popularity. Thousands of Ordinary People movie viewers wanted to know the music back drop. I’ve listened to it a gazillion times a year since then. 💕
Still loving this in 2023… Anyone else?? Beautiful, fantastic, amazing… xx
Es hermoso
How could anyone dislike such a precious song? It's so sublime it brings me closer to God every time I hear it.
Yes! I rather FA than my weeding dont play this song
Those unliker just apes
Its not the song they dislike. Its themselves they dislike.
man if you're a musician that has to play this all the time, then yeah you'd hate it too lol
I cannot recall ever having seen musicians 'feeling' their music as much as this duo. I am no musician but please accept a well-done from me.
chrissd40 check out the the Piano Guys :) - pure bliss on their face whenever they play
chrissd40 2cello are one to look into for that
