Sometimes I solve the math problems in two different ways in the time limit, just for fun. Sometimes I even challenge myself to use every number.
@David Ortiz Yeah, its mosquito teargas.
Channel 4 could it be that at 6:22 there is another solution ? 😅
There's two kinds of people in the world. Those who watch Countdown and feel smart And those who watch Countdown and feel like Roisin.

I'd still rather be Roisin than Catherin "dum-dum" Tate
I just like to watch Countdown and feel Roisin.
“I’ve got more points on my driving license than Roisin has scored in Countdown” Sean Lock is the best 😂
Read it literally as it was happening haha love those moments
My favourite clip is still Catherine Tate and trying to calculate 101
It's an act and a bad one at that.
Brings me to tears every time
"You're saying it to me like it's obvious!" Is just so funny XD
"It's your turn to choose the numbers" "...Seven." So funny!
@@amywonderland9297 so sad if you think this is real
Richard Ayoade being one of the smartest people on this show makes it all the more hilarious that he never gets an answer right
To be fair, if Countdown allowed all forms of mathematics, Richard would ace it. If he cared of course. His legendary "Take the 10 and square it" is legendary
@@Red_Beard2798 Uh, sorry, actually can you cube it?
@@Red_Beard2798 if you want to square and cube, go and work in fucking jelly factory mate
Is Richard Ayoade smart? To me, his persona is geeky/nerdy guy. But he doesn't appear as smart as the stereotype of nerds/geeks. He's intelligent. But I don't see him as academically smart.
@@budle89 Richard studied Law at Cambridge before he focussed on a career in acting and comedy
Miles’s “I went to the bother of subtracting 4 from 5, and then I just panicked for 26 seconds” absolutely kills me every time
My favourite part is “I got 102” hahahaha
Imagine having Rachel Riley's brain and having to write 5-4=1 on the big board 😂😂
The patience of Lee trying to help Catherine get 101 is what I need in life
Catherine Tate is me during every math lesson at school.
You're saying it like it's obvious!!
Thank God she's hot or she would be useless.
@@zapkvr the way she laughed when Myles says he got 102 makes it obvious she's lying.

Why is no one shocked how fast Jon did the equation for James
Because he probably did it in his head when the clock was ticking. Then just had to remind himself.
Nah he does this for fun so he's really good at the math.
Cause he's Jon. That's what he does.
Because basic maths shouldn't shock anyone with access to the internet.

I can't be the only one who saw the easy solution at the end: 50-9=41 41x10=410

That was funny!
I love Rob’s “ *inhale* PHAAAAAAAAAAA”
That's how you know Paul Foot is a genuine mathematician. We don't need to actually calculate the answer, that's trivial. That's what engineers are for.
Exactly. Order of magnitude approximations are just fine.
"I've got more points on my driving license than Róisín has won." Lmao

Do a Numbers Round compilation of some of the cleverest correct answers given and also the biggest epic fails!
I liked the Richard Ayoade one where he used a few square roots to come up with the correct answer. Even Rachel was impressed. For some reason it wasn't allowed though.
@@simonkevnorris they only allow the DMAS functions. Not powers and stuff like that. Hence it was not allowed.
the one where lee mack got STEADINGS! i love the shock
@@simonkevnorris The problem with that one was it wasn't actually that impressive; if they'd told Claudia and Jon they were allowing exponents I'm 100% sure that both of them would have come up with the same thing Richard did. They're both very good at math. Both of them were able to determine well within the 30 seconds that the problem was impossible under the rules which was just as impressive.
@@merino1869 Nah, Claudia wouldn't have know what exponents are and Jon would have spent the 30 second complaining that the rules had been changed.
i love how james corden looks and acts so much more comfortable in these english shows compared to american shows
I've noticed it with Trevor Noah too. He's a lot more laid back with SA audiences/groups than when in the US. I think a part of it is also how touchy and less forgiving American comedy and audiences are
disclaimer: do not watch this at a time when people are asleep i laughed so much watching this right now at 1:30am nearly woke my fam up
I fucking love Roisin's appearances, she's hilarious
Rob isn't wrong. Council House And Violent came after the word Chav.
But I don't think it's from Chatham, either. I think it's a Romani word in origin.
Im from Kent and always knew it as "Chatham Average"
It is 19th C Romani for "child."
@@qwertyTRiG yep, it's from chavi, meaning child. The one time the general public gets interested in where words come from and they get it horribly wrong, multiple times
I would love to see Rob and Roisin on a team together!
I was roaring at the telly when a person with a maths degree went around the house with arguably the simplest numbers round in history. To this day I wake up in the night screaming "50 - 9 x 10!!"
The way you know Catherine Tate was acting (on the "101" round) is the way she broke out laughing when Miles said "I have 102" Fantastic comedy
Yeah, I'm not sure about that. 2:28 she still had "deer in the headlights" look while it was explained 5-4=1, and still wasn't sure what to do next
Not buying it, she's possibly worse than Roisin
I love these clips that I've never ever seen before!
I love how half of these people were on Taskmaster
That's honestly the joy of british panel shows. You start with one show and knowing only one person, and they just multiply. I started with James Acaster on Taskmaster, and now I'm here
@@meiji4785 literally same, i started taskmaster bc of james acaster and somehow i ended up here
10(50-9), why did they have so much trouble with that one lol
The fucked up thing is Romesh was math teacher before becoming a comedian and he couldn't solve one of the easiest math problems.
Marko Todorovic to be fair, countdown maths is a lot different to anything you’d teach in a classroom. There isn’t really any way to “teach” someone how to solve countdown problems, you just have to be good at seeing the solutions.
I relate to Catherine so much in this clip hahaha
I genuinely thought you had to use all the numbers in the math problems it never occurred to me that you wouldn’t need to lol
While I laugh at this, I know that I would be worse at this if I ever was on
The James Bit has me in stitches 😂😂😂😂😂😂
50 - 9 = 41 x 10 = 410 , thats the first one I have ever got 😂

At least it's obvious why Roisin didn't choose "diet" instead...
Using the square root of -1, as Paul suggests, is way too complex for this program :')
Robs quick adding up lmao 😂😂 Also fun fact: DEET isn't a word, but it is an acronym. Its the active ingredient in some bug repellent sprays. It stands for "N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide", which is - im sure - exactly what Roisin was going for in the first place. 🤫

It's almost like this is a comedy show.

Even Paul Foot's correct solution was a riot! what was wrong with (50-9) x 10?
Nice! I did it the long way, 9 and 1, 10. Then times that by 50 to get your 500, then use the 10 and the other 9 to times them to get your 90, then take that off the 500 and youve got yourself 410
@@robmyster01 Yeah... That's the way it was done in the clip bro

Rob Murphy could’ve also just done 50x(9-1)+10, not as simple but still simpler than his answer 😂

10:01 what on earth was going on 😂
Don't know man, Catherine is too convincing to be taking it.
this is one of the best ones
From what episode is the one with Sean and Bill vs Sarah and Rob?
lmao yaay, i finally got my first math challenge right at 1:20 :D
What happened in the 410 clip? I got it in about a second.
That last maths question had me squirming because everyone seemed to be missing it until Paul gave the 500-90 method. Another solution would have been (9-1)*50+10. 9-1 = 8, 8*50=400, 400+10=410.
Paul did it the fancy way.
RIP Sean. Legend
1:25 poor Lee! The fastest wit stuck with the slowest wit!
Catherine just showed how good of an actress she is.

Such a complicated way.... 50-9 =41, 41x10 is 410... how did they all miss that?
I did 9-1=8, 8x50=400, then add 10. I think the pressure gets to you on Countdown and you miss all the obvious things.
