A crazy person, I'm thinking? 😂🤣 God bless her, that pig is definitely running her show! I couldn't really tell what kind of pig he is, anybody else know? He kinda reminds me of the wild boars that roam Florida, but surely not . . .if he is, I dont know how he could be a house pet much longer. But what do I know, I've never had a pet pig before, in or outside the house 🤷♀️ It should be very interesting to follow 😊

I'm a first-time Mom (who works full time from home) with an 8-month old that isn't a great napper, and this looks like a similar level of commitment. Her comment at the end about people who may want to own a pig is very smart and practical. Too often people don't realize what they've signed up for and just how difficult it can be. But you can tell she'd do anything for Merlin. She's a great Mom!

I agree. People tend to get rabbits for their children at Easter and wind up just letting them outside or dropping them off at a shelter ( where they’re euthanized) bc they are delicate little creatures and take a lot of care and love IF you raise them right.
My kids and I volunteer at a farm sanctuary. They have a field of pet pigs they care for in which people gave them up.

Yes, owning a pig is basically committing to taking care of a toddler for 12-18 years, but a toddler that weighs up to 250 pounds, is incredibly strong, destructive, and grows sharp tusks. They’re one of the smartest and most emotional animals on the planet and deserve amazing lives, but they are not easy pets. I really admire the people who make it work.

I had a pet pig growing up. They are very smart and yes they love ice for some reason. Mine loved it as well.
Oh my goodness! Yet ANOTHER incredibly warm and fuzzy and wonderful Dodo story! Love this so much. Piggies are so wonderful! Thanks to his sweet owner who loves him very much! Dodo always makes my days better with its heartwarming stories.
I also enjoy their stories. I wish they would stop showing owners being irresponsible. Ice cubes are a known choking hazard for pets. If she had discussed this habit with her Veterinarian, she would’ve been immediately told to stop it.

When my mom was younger my grandfather rescued 2 little runts, and brought them home to bottle feed. As they got bigger they pretty much became house pets. The female absolutely loved taking baths, so if they didn’t shut the door good enough she would come in and try to take baths with them.
So it was kinda like the start of Charlotte's Web, except the piggies didn't eventually hafta go to a barn??! 🥰🐷😍😍 That book definitely made me want to raise a runty piglet/Wilbur, so your mom's so lucky!! (Although this young lady in the video is making me want a Merlin 🐷💗)

Didn’t think there could be anything new in my life, but THIS is it. A wonderful relationship, with a beautiful and very intelligent pig. Thank you for sharing it. I remember reading years ago that in one country (don’t know which) Guide Pigs were being used to help blind people, and that they seemed even more intelligent than Guide Dogs. Sometimes - just sometimes - we live in a wonderful, beautiful world. ❤️
Pigs are horrible pets they require a lot of attention and are extremely selfish as you can see in the video. Also they grow big and heavy, the pig in the video is not fully grown yet and once it does, it might cause more problems with his spoiled behavior (how will she dance with him after he grows, he will be upset if she wont dance with him). I usually love Dodo but stories like this one make people get pigs as pets only to find out they cannot control them.

As a kid I had this friend and she had a pig as a pet aswell, only it was a full size pig almost as tall as we were and I remember she was so gentile with us kids.
Please make an update when her pig grows too big for her to carry. I'm curious about how she'll handle it.
That's what I was thinking about during the video as well. I hope she has a plot of land she plans to move out to to give him more space once he's massive.
I'm sure the pig would prefer living in a somewhat cramped flat with a seemingly loving owner than being in a slaughterhouse or bacon sandwich.

I miss my pig. We fell for the "she'll only be 30 pounds" and she got to over 300 pounds. We still loved her and would still have her, but unfortunate life situations caused us to have to rehome her. We also lost the contact information to where she went.

I wonder how big that particular pig is going to get? He seems to have a bit of wild boar in his genes so maybe he won't grow too huge.. otherwise I think she is going to need more space and a heavy duty bed.... oh and maybe a van to take him around in. :)
I wondered the same cause normally they get enormous, way too big for an apartment or a petite woman to handle. She seems like she knows what she’s gotten herself into so hopefully he won’t grow anymore. He’s a good manageable size now. I’m impressed her neighbors haven’t complained either, pig screams are an entirely different ballgame from regular dog/ cat noises. Yikes. Lol.

My son's two year old rat, that we loved dearly, died because the vet didn't advise us he needed his two fang teeth filed. They grew until they penetrated the roof of his mouth into his brain. God forgive me for not knowing rat's teeth grow forever and protecting him... still mourning.
That’s very sad. Try not to blame yourself, that isn’t common knowledge to everyone that rodents have perpetually growing teeth that either need to have their diet supplemented by a lot of stuff that wears their teeth down or have them clipped regularly. Rats are special animals and very smart, sorry about your little friend.
