  • Remember that it is best to replace the o-rings any time you remove/replace an injector. If you don't, you're practically asking for fuel leaks in the near future.

I ran the cleaner in the reverse Direction first. That's what Motion Pro says to do but their tool cost something like a hundred dollars. Maybe even more

    • I use a piece of heater hose and clamp it on the bottom of the injectorand clamp a valve stem in the other end then fill it B12 chemtool and energize the injector and let it drip through the first time then fill it a second time and blow it out with the compressor the switch directions and do the same from the top works great and you don't have to try to seal the straw to anything

  • This method worked very well for me... I made a few alterations: 1. I tightened a hose clamp around the valve end for a bit more of a seal. I had it pop off on me once before this and found you *really* need to wear safety glasses when doing this. 2. I drilled a hole in the top of a glass jar to catch the spray. I think finely misted carb cleaner and sparks in close proximity might not be such a great idea. 3. As you suggested, I used some JB Kwik on the connection between the straw and valve stem cap.

  • Great stuff, thankyou. My tweak on this was to make the hole in the cap with a sharp wood screw. It doesn't remove material like a drill, you can control just how much you stretch the hole by how much you twist the screw in and you can make the hole the perfect size with a little flange of plastic that melts the straw in place perfectly!

I plan to use this method with some tips from the comments: 1. glue the spray hose better into the cap for a better seal. 2. use a hose clamp to hold the valve onto the injector better. 3. use less voltage? and maybe rig up a handy switch, maybe a foot switch? to free up your hands. 4. put the injector into a hole in a jar lid to contain the spray 5. turn the injector over a spray backward through the other way.

    • To check the resistance of the injectors, all you need is a multimeter and you check the ohm's. They should be between 10-12ohms, might be 14, either way it doesn't really matter much, cause you can check them and get a base line, and if you have any bad injectors you will see a variation in the numbers. They are quite literally one of the easiest thing to diagnose, all you have to do is Pop the clip for the wires to the injector and touch the test leads of the multimeter directly to the injector and read the ohm's-then change any bad injectors.

  • Great and useful video. Is there a common resistance value you typically find, or do you just measure all of them and eliminate the ones with unusual values? Knowing a typical range of resistance would help when testing them at the junkyard to find the keepers. When pulling them out of the vehicle you're testing, do you re-use the seals or get new ones, or is it that a call based on inspection and your experience? Thanks again for this and all of your videos.

  • IMPORTANT: Some injectors will be destroyed by connecting direct to 12V battery. You should use a resistor or 12V lamp to limit the current to prevent damaging the inductive coil in the injector. Now ask me how I know this!

    @wrlgmail@wrlgmail8 жыл бұрын
    • +wrlgmail please explain your set up in more details. I plan to clean my injectors, and I was aware of potential to damage the electrical inside the injector. So I am interested in your comments but I wouild like to get your details, please. Thank you

      @tellsthetruth894@tellsthetruth8948 жыл бұрын
    • Hey +Sam Rafeedie - you simply need to be sure you do not apply too much current to the injector coils. In the engine control module, the injectors are activated by a transistor circuit switching on and off- the transistor has the current flow limited by a resistor (or resistance) in series with the coil. To approximate this current flow without using the entire amount of current in your starting battery, you can simply wire a 12v signal bulb in series with the injector. The current will be limited by the resistance of the bulb filament- which will increase as it gets hotter, thus limiting the current total to slightly less than would flow in the bulb alone - if you use an 1157 type incandescent lamp, that should be about 2 Amps at around 13V. Don't leave it connected for a long period - say more than 10 seconds, as the coil will heat up just the same as the bulb. One terminal of battery to bulb, other terminal to injector, other side of injector coil to opposite terminal of battery. Auto injectors are not polarized so it does not matter how you hook it up as long as the lamp is in the circuit. You could also use e.g. a 10 Ohm/5W resistor in place of the lamp. I like to use the lamp as I get visual feedback. GL

      @wrlgmail@wrlgmail8 жыл бұрын
    • +wrlgmail Going further, To clean all at once The injectors could be left in the fuel rail(s) on the bench and a proper RLC circuit using a $4 555 IC to "pulse" the injectors. But you would need more injector pigtail leads according to number of injectors. The 555 timer circuit works with Vcc of +5v =Digital control. Latching a 6v output relay for a 1 second duty cycle, with no overheating and total load resistance spread over all the injectors. Spray patterns can be visually verified during pulsation by placing paper at injector nozzle Or in a pinch you could use a common 3.7v Li-PO cell phone wall charger for safely cleaning one injector at a time Output voltage varies between 4.2v and 5.1v with current between .500ma to 1amp output, and will not fry your injectors. Add 555 timer circuit for digital control if you want.

  • Cleaned my 2006 Mazda fuel injectors using your Tire Valve method. So much easier than other videos on KZhead. We used a 9v battery and some alligator clips which made it really easy. We also didn't have to melt the straw as the hole we drilled kept the straw nice and tight. One thing I should mention is that after we cleaned the fuel injectors we noticed the o-rings (seal rings) were worn and needed to be replaced. So consider buying some new o-rings ($4) before tackling this project. Other than that this video saved me so much money. Thank you for posting

  • Some injectors run on as little voltage of 5 to 6 volts so be careful and check the specs before you just connect 12 volts to them

  • To take all the injector out of your car and cleaning it , is take too much of time, you can do this on the car with a pressurized injector cleaner, Just disconnected the fuel pump and run only from the injector cleaner, that will clean out all the your injector , without taking the injector out of your car...

      @audiwankenobi361@audiwankenobi3617 жыл бұрын
    • Sorry Eddie, but I've given this a 'thumbs down'. Pumping cleaner through your injectors while they are still in situ will spray the cleaner straight into the inlet runners of your engine, from where it will run into the cylinders and down the bores washing away lube from round the rings and contaminating the oil in the sump. Also, removing the injectors from the car means you can SEE the spray pattern, so you can visually check for a good fine spray.

      @CycloneCyd@CycloneCyd7 жыл бұрын
    • +Cyclone Cyd, I agree. Taking them out is better...but when not taking them out works....I'm talking about while the engine is running so that it doesn't contaminate the oil and potentially cause engine damage.

      @truthssword8033@truthssword80337 жыл бұрын
    • taking injectors out is the best way. rarely is the nozzle clogged. what clogs is the screen on the inlet/top of the injector. the only way to clean that screen is either liquid pressure, ie, can carb cleaner, or air pressure from your air hose. reason ? have you ever cleaned a screen? you clean it from the other side. by reversing the normal flow, anything stuck in the screen will be flushed away. Injector cleaner additive is a useless product. if the injector is clogged the cleaner is not even going to reach the injector because its screen is clogged. Obviously you can't spray the other side of the screen on an injector but carb cleaner pressure is enough to clean the dirt off of the screen.
