Seymour Hersh recorded a podcast in New York in May 2016 about his new book, The Killing of Osama bin Laden, published by Verso, which features articles published originally in the London Review of Books. Talking to him is Christian Lorentzen, an editor-at-large for the London Review of Books.
ABOUT THE LRB
Since 1979, the London Review of Books has stood up for the tradition of the literary and intellectual essay in English. Each issue contains up to 15 long reviews and essays by academics, writers and journalists. There are also shorter art and film reviews, as well as poems and a lively letters page.
A typical issue moves through political commentary to science or ancient history by way of literary criticism and social anthropology. So, for example, an issue can open with a piece on the rhetoric of war, move on to reassessing the reputation of Pythagoras, follow that with articles on the situation in Iraq, the 19th-century super-rich, Nabokov’s unpublished novel, how saints got to be saints, the life and work of William Empson, and an assessment of the poetry of Alice Oswald.

    • Be like the CCP in China today, or the citizens of Germany of the National Socialist Party, better known then and today at NAZI's, where they had a policy called "Right Speech", we know it in our country as "Political Correctness". It starts with media restricting free speech because it's harmful to society. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

    • I remember the day. I instantly thought it was BS because I had heard he was dead for years. No videos of him, etc. The first thing I thought was, what are they trying to distract from? It was the week Obama had been pressured to release his birth certificate and it was all over the news. Partly, because the released one looked like a modern digital document, not like a bc from the 60s. Bin laden was 'killed at the height of birth certificate kerfuffle.

  • BS! Osama was never in that house in Abbottabad, he had died of kidney failure months before. The chopper that dropped off the fake Seal team, then took off, blew up after it landed again to pick them up, there are photos of parts of the destroyed chopper. A second chopper arrived that did not land but probably remotely detonated explosive that had been planted in the first chopper that was to take the non existent Osama away from the site? Osama was not buried at sea from a US aircraft carrier!!! The job on Nord Stream 2 was bungled and its string 2 is still operational so the Germans could open it to allow gas into Germany but German foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock who is head of the German Green Party said she doesn't care if her voters freeze, Ukraine is more important. Annalena is not so green if she thinks fracked gas shipped across the Atlantic from the USA is greener than non fracked gas piped from Russia?

  • So he rambles a bit. So what. Keep up. That's the beauty of the thing. The golden bits are in the interstices of his discourse. Like watching/listening to a talented cook. The precious information are the words of wisdom between, "3 ounces of butter and 2 tablespoons of flour". You can find out the name of the cow who produced the milk that made the butter and how not to overcook the flour, if you listen carefully. Think of a fan, opening up with all those little folds. Use all your ears. He leaves us lots of paths to follow.

  • As a small citizen under the poverty level from what I observed the day the Towers went down. They immediately blamed Osama bin and they were printing his face on money. I saw A very one time short clip of him saying no I did not bomb the towers but I wish I was the one who did and the next day he had claimed responsibility. At the time he had 14 brothers of his 54 brothers and sisters living in America. Not sure but I think they own world bank and world car Kia. And history never talks about the Four gentleman who saved the capital who took the plane down before it hit the capital in Washington, for years nobody said nothing when 13 out of the 15 guys on the plane were from Saudi Arabia and when the towers went down in America the Dubai tower went up in Saudi Arabia. The next miss America was Arabic And yes I did vote for him but Barack Obama‘s middle name is Osama and he’s a Muslim. I have never heard of him before but the powers that be chose him because I would have voted for a Conda Lisa rice Colin Powell ticket way before I would’ve voted for a man I’ve never heard of because as little people we know that you guys are in charge and you are playing us because we are the cows that give you the milk.
