  • Well, this is quite a statement in terms of marrying dance with lighting (and costumes) and obviously incredibly hard work ( the synchronization was stupendous!) The small glimpses of solo work made me realize I would have liked more of that (not least for its contrast value with the whole ensemble work) but, hey, Respect!

  • Powerful dancers. This song version was all one dynamic for me, no verses like a lot of music right now. If they’d used the original Ray Charles there would have been a conversation between the sides and levels of drama. Waited in vain for the plaintive “Oh woman oh woman doncha treat me so mean . . .”

  • It’s unfortunate that just because this dance wasn’t centred around Tiana, Emily or Max O, they chose not to feature it in dance life. A shame, as this is such a beautiful piece, with such brilliant dancers! Kudos!

    • Max Ostler actually was in this. The camera focuses on him at 2:40, he also splits of from the rest of them at 3:12 and is again, clearly visible at 3:28.

  • Hmm… sorry, the women’s costumes are distracting from the dance, they need to all have a similar silhouette. It’s ok to vary the colors or neckline for example, but not hems and random hunks of fabric. Also is disconcerting to have women in bare feet and men in boots. Why? Both genders shoeless would have been powerful - for this dance the imbalance between the genders is out of sync.

    • no it’s not. the story is about different people hence why they aren’t wearing the same thing. have you never seen dances with people in different costumes?? this isn’t dance moms this is professional dancing which you obviously don’t know anything about. and about your boots comment. did you see woman back in the day wearing boots? sort yourself out and come back when you’re educated thanks
