Why should I always know what’s valuable? Let me make my mistakes. And if people truly didn’t care about what others think, then there wouldn’t be stupid videos such as these trying to make you insecure and asking you to rise above mediocrity.

It is defined as finding yourself and exactly how your core values align with your work which will naturally breed success. To find those things there has to be some level of sacrifice, which is not equivalent to rat race stuff, but to things that push your own personal growth. Nobody is saying you can't take time off or relax, but there is truth to the idea that spending all of your free time being passively entertained is not going to be actually fulfilling for your or lead to personal growth which is what fulfilment is all about

I am 30 years old and sometimes I even tell myself and my husband I "wasted so much time and didn't do almost anything in my life"... We should enjoy life more in it's simplicity, because life alone is a wonderful gift. I feel tired of wanting more and more from myself.. So I am so impressed by the comments. @lightworker4512@lightworker4512 Жыл бұрын
    • I disagree with life being a wonderful gift/ Life itself is filled with suffering, you have to work your butt of to get yourself that little bit of enjoyment. Your achievements are undoubtly impressive and not many people reach the level you are at at your age. However, you feel that emptiness because you feel like you've wasted your effort trying to achieve all these things but ultimately, besides people praising you, you don't get much out of it. Looking ar your life, it's very stressful and you are determined to use every single second of your days productively. Life is already hard enough as it is, if you keep applying that level of stress to chase after your goals, it will leave you feeling exhausted and empty. I'm definitely not saying you should be lazy, but what I'm saying is, yes, work hard for sure, but sometimes you also need to put your work aside and play hard too. Spend some time to chill with your family and friends, go on date nights with your husband, buy something nice like clothes or jewelry, go travelling (not business trips) or even party with people. Life is hard and for some unknown reason, overworking to a breaking point is seen as a virtue. which is unhealthy. So when you deemed yourself to have worked very hard, you need to sit back and relax.

Heaven & hell exists, you will get bored of either one eventually and you’ll find yourself exploring the other domain eventually, just keep it balanced and stay humble or you risk getting stuck into comparison game forever (like a mutant)

Life doesn't have to be complicated, and there's so many "successful" people with everything they could want who still aren't happy, always looking for the next big thing. Why does a simple life have to be considered mediocre. Why do we need to wake up at 5am and force ourselves to reach some goal to feel good. I mean, whatever works for you, but maybe we should start by trying to find happiness from inside, where we are now, before we torture ourselves day in day out looking for a false sense of achievement.

    • The problem with focusing on happiness alone is its selfish. Happiness doesn't feed a child, give them a great education, a special family vacation to remember for a life time, and give them a sustainable future. Money does that. Saying its all about ones own happiness is selfish and leads to hypocritical decisions like divorcing instead of working together to solve problems for the family, caring about nothing but how you feel and not care about others. Yes, happiness is important, but its like having two arms and no legs. Meaning, its not everything. Just like having legs are important too, its important to make as much money as you possibly can for your family, and for other very beneficial reasons such as donating, and not try to justify the belief that money is the root of all evil (when it's clearly the opposite) and that you should stay away from it to so you can try to live as lazy of a life as you possibly can and be "Ok" with it.

  • It’s not about being at the top of your field, making the most money, being the best, waking up early, getting everything right. That’s not what you should be aiming for at all. The truth is that anyone who is progressively realizing a worthy ideal is successful. This means that if you want a simple and calm quiet life, then you must follow that intuition and achieve that. If you want a busy successful life, then you must follow that. If you want a better family life then you must work toward that. The point is to find YOUR IDEAL and strive to reach it. Not society’s IDEA OF SUCCESS. You must find your star and aim at it. Humans feel happiest when they have their eye set on something and steadily move toward it. It does not matter what you have your eye set on as-long as it is of a creative rather than destructive nature. If you truly crave a silent and simple life where you wake up and all you feel like doing on a Saturday morning is drink a cup of coffee and chill. Then you have to aim toward living in that way. You have to fulfill the desire of living peacefully. If you crave the thrills of accomplishment then it’s your duty to yourself to fulfill that desire. People get personal growth mixed up in so many ways it sickens me. Calling it “toxic positivity” and having “negative experiences” because of personal development. The reason is that people don’t think for themselves and they listen to the wrong people. The problem is when you are doing something because someone told you “this is how you should live”. They are trying to sell you something. If you are settling for a simple life because you are scared of living the way you really want to live, then you are fooling yourself. If you are aiming at achievements because someone said you need to do this, when all you want is a simple life then you are also fooling yourself. You decide how you want to live. Think for yourself. *Shocked by the feedback on this 😯Thank you 🙂

  • Amazing video. Thank you! It arrived just in time for my thoughts this morning. I wake up at 5am to free write about whatever us in my head. While I know comparison is the the thief of joy (can’t remember who said that); it’s good to be reminded. I’m an artist returning to pursue my passion after giving up 10 years ago. It’s the reason I moved to NYC 15 years ago. I gave up on this childhood dream because it’s an expensive city and I was tried of being broke (and broken) so I pursued a career in sales and marketing-which I quickly excelled, got the money-got the title. Yet now I have so much anxiety. I’m digressing a bit but want to illustrate how I came back to making art. I felt there was so much suppressed energy and creativity in me and it had to get out-not using it creatively was creating anxiety within me. So I started painting one night after work and it felt incredible. It wasn’t extraordinary work by any means but I was expressing. I tried my best not to compare myself but just to keep going. To keep showing up for myself and painting 2-3 days a week. It took a couple months but now I feel I’m tapping into something uniquely me. While other artists are going in a different direction I am expressing whatever is in me (stating in my lane) and it feels good to be authentically me-to channel and work with whatever comes out. I know that it will eventually lead to my success. That being authentic and true to myself makes success feel more attainable. The next step is getting others outside of my bubble to see it-to subject it to criticism-and to learn to speak on and defend my work. Your video helped to remind me that this is the necessary step and while criticism is inevitable, it is only detrimental if I decide it’s so. It can enable me and give me energy to continue to create and not give up on that dream. I want to transcend beyond the mediocre. The most challenging step is just continuing despite whatever follows. Thank you again! ❤

  • Everyone's definition of mediocre is different. Not everyone wants to be some CEO of their own business, or have their name known throughout the world. For some people, success is working a 9 to 5 and having fun on the weekends. The thing that's really bothering me about this whole "self help" age, is that now everyone is being told that their special and that EVERYONE HAS to change the world and if they don't, they're treated as lesser than. Some people want to lead the pack and some are okay with just being part of it. There is nothing wrong with being average if that's what YOU want, cause YOUR definition of average may be MY definition of success.

    • You're right. Maybe the problem is a lack of introspection. Possibly thanks to this, people just hop on different bandwagons trough life. Be it "hedonism", "mediocrity" (wich is subjective as you said), "entrepeneurship", "self improvement", "wellness", "becoming rich", "hyper-productivity", "success", etc. Perhaps we just need to take a step back and draw the line. I could be wrong but maybe the root of all our problems is not that we aren't "succesful enough" but we lack inner peace. Not the "end all wars and conflict" kind of peace but the "content with myself while still improving" type of peace. This doesn't mean that we should become a peaceful "blob" that spends all of its time doing nothing. All I'm saying is: What if we just stop for a moment and think about what we truly want in life? And then... Go for it. Even knowing we probably won't make it. Maybe, that thing you want is a 9 to 5 job with a decent salary and a quiet life. It's fine. There's no point in complicating things. Have a nice day, "self loathing gives me life".

They may end up living normal lives, but are in debt because they want others to think they made it better than they really did.* Not being "successful" is making them miserable. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. *I'm not talking about people who have it bad financially. If you just turn around and see the larger picture, you may just decide to focus on the things that are important to you, instead on the recognition from others. • Great video and so much truth in it. *When you win or talk you only repeat what you already know* . Many people dont understand when i tell them that failure is the only way to get success. In sports or a video game i just try new options to see if they are a good idea to success. Often they fail but a few lead to success and thats why people say *"i do everything different or unorthodox"* . Comparing, competing and yealously about people close to you keeps people in mediocrity. Like toxic basketball team members who feel good winning against literally beginners where i think "what are you proud of, you play for 15 years" instead of looking up and learning from the higher level players. If you do everything the same way the masses do you stay mediocre. I try different things also in in my job and started my own company and thats why i never listen to "consultants" and people who chase "titles". Consultants in any field only know what "everyone" else in that industry is doing, so they are the magnet to mediocrity or slightly above. I failed countless times small or big and right now i even embrace failure cause i directly think about why it failed and my options. Successful people "do" and do not "talk" and especially dont talk about "titles". When i am not sure about option A or B i just start with A and if i realise later in production its not good i do B. With all those "fail" informations you fail less and less cause you can apply those informations to new concepts someone that did not failed cannot. If i get positive feedback from my clients i feel flattened and confirmed to do good but i am past behind the point i need this for my selfesteem. Learning and gathering new informations to be better and help my clients and partners is what keeps me going. Success comes then automatically.

People think happiness is up on some mountain top but the world is full of things that glitter but ain't gold. True treasures are simple and can be found everywhere by those who learn how to look. What gets me is that outsiders have this egotistical sense of, "oh, they aren't always talking about how driven they are" or "they aren't trying to do anything special", but forcing something as inauthentic as that is the ultimate cookie cutter mentality - this need to conform to "achieving greatness". Guess what? Millions of others have had this mentality before you, so to act as though you're enlightened and on a higher wavelength is a joke. You didn't inspire that line of thinking. Others did, and you're ultimately the very thing you criticize: a sheep. It's honestly sickening. Just because *you're* (not you, but many others) terrified of the thought of being considered normal or walking on the same footing as the rest of us doesn't make you shit. You work a 9 to 5 job like the rest of us and you ultimately seek pleasure in *some* capacity; we all do, it's just we all seek it out in different ways. • That is exactly what I was thinking seeing all the comments regarding average. The best example is: 2000 years ago the average life expectancy was 33 years. What many people don't realize is that basically means most people either died in their first 2 years of life, or they lived to be 66. The word average has nothing to do with the word median.

Not paying attention to what "should be important" has made me far less stressed. This has also given me more energy to do things that were good for me, because I haven't spent it on stupid things like proving myself to others. This is what helped me deal with my depression. It may not help you, but you can try. I may sound like one of those people, but I know what I am talking about.

Look around and appreachiate the abundance that you can see - the wealth, the success, the ideas, the creativity, the companionship, the love. You have a right to these things as much as anybody else. And you can give those things to everybody. Change your aditute, focus on yourself, make clear goals and you will pull it in your life like a magnet. We 100% become what we think, so learn to control your thoughts. This will be hard in the beginning because selflimiting thoughts are probably a years long habit, but once you formed a new thinking habit everything will get a lot easier.

    • i used to feel that way, and there are lots of different ways to think about it, but for me it helped to realize that even though my life doesn’t “matter” in the grand scheme of the universe, it DOES matter to me whether i’m happy or whether i’m successful, and i can choose to live a life where i dwell in misery or i can choose to live a life where i value my own happiness, even if i’m the only on who does. plus, even if you do fail, it won’t matter anyway, so you may as well shoot your shot. i know it’s often more complicated than just “choosing to be happy”, but that mode of thinking was what helped me, so i figured i may as well share it. also i realize your comment is two years old, so if you’re reading this, i’m glad you’re still here :)

Luck and being conscious of income are truly important, they can't be ignored in place of positive vibes. Positive vibes don't pay the rent. Balance is necessary. The vast majority of start ups fail, with serious financial consequences. That's reality, so before you jump on the entrepreneur bandwagon you need to understand how you will make a living.
