@@mrjesanchez It's about an acquaintance of the lead singer's dying of AIDS. This was back in the mid-90s, when life expectancy was much lower. One of the many gems of the 90's
I love these old 90's songs that really take me back to the moment I first heard them!
Better Than Ezra frontman Kevin Griffin said in an interview he wrote this song when his girlfriend at the time's uncle Patrick was in the final stages passing away from Aids and it's about not knowing about the history of who you love & who they've loved before you.
Thanks for the explanation. I initially could not make heads or tails of what this song was about, but within the context you shared, the lyrics make total sense to me now, and I love the song even more than I did previously.
I was 16 in ‘95 - had the tape adapter to play this CD in my 1984 Mercury Cougar. Smells like Drakkar Noir & Marlboro Lights going for a cruise after a shitty 4-close at the fast food gig.
I remember being 16 and singing this song with so much passion like I understood it. Now that I am 40 I really understand it and I still sing it like I wrote it.
Please explain it's meaning to me, I have no earthly clue what it's about. Thank you.
@@mrjesanchez It's about an acquaintance of the lead singer's dying of AIDS. This was back in the mid-90s, when life expectancy was much lower. "In the Blood" literally refers to the disease, and the questions, "Who'd you love before? Who'd they love before you?" Is about trying to trace who they got it from and who else they might have passed it on to.
@@philliplocey9451 Thank you.
in my 10 alltimes fav songs
Great music still in the 20020 gosh how I miss that Era, great song band and music, the 90s rock..
i miss the nineties... despite only being there for the last 4 years.
I feel you bud. Born in 87 . The 90s were amazing
Were amazing tonight in Kittanning,PA! I've loved this band since I was a teen, getting to see them do a local show and blow everyone away was awesome
My 100%, no contest, no argument favorite band from the 90s...seen them 18 times and counting!
I've seen them twice in the past six months. Wish I'd seen them during their peak
I still have my tshirt from the 1995 Deluxe tour! I loved BTE in high school and still do!
Damn. Where did the time go? Blew by like a lightning Bolt. Almost puts a lump in my throat.😢🤯😈🤫
Right.. I’ll be 40 in 2 weeks. It wasn’t long ago this song was in the radio and long summer days of skateboarding in the 90s. Mid life crisis nostalgia.
I am obsessed with this. By far my favorite thing to watch. 😍😍😍 KG’s face is ridiculously precious here.
the drumming sounds crazy in this song
@Lilian Moreland No way. Serious? Helluva drummer
Lilian Moreland he owns a chain of Italian restaurants now, correct? Sorry if that’s wrong. Just needed to confirm what I read.
one of the most underrated songs of all time
I totally agree this song should have charted as high or higher than "Good", it really showed the emotional range of these guys. So overlooked, but they had so much competition for airplay on the radio back then.
LLevaba mas de 7 años buscando el grupo y nombre de esta cancion, que cosa mas buena, gracias mennn, que emocion
I thought I'd grow out of these 80's songs, intsed i've grown into them. Best music ever.

lyrics How can you be so warm? How can you know what I feel? Well, it's the way you move your hands And it's the way you understand And that's the reason that I'm asking Hey-ee-yay-I And that's the reason that I want to know Hey-ee-yay-I And that's the reason that I'm asking Hey-ee-yay-I And that's the reason that I'm How can you throw away everything you live for? Well it's the way we shake and sway Oh And it's the passion that you play And that's the reason that I'm asking Hey-ee-yay-I And that's the reason that I want to know Hey-ee-yay-I And that's the reason that I'm asking Hey-ee-yay-I And that's the reason that I'm Too many lost Links in a chain passed down through the years But ending here if we just face the pain And the fear Who did you love before? This band is where I got my older son's name. Way before I even planned on having kids, I knew my first son would be named Ezra.
That is amazing and sooo cool
Saw them live in Austin a few years back and this was their final song. Immediate goosebumps once the sudden drumline kicked in followed by the guitars. Hands down their best song in my opinion!
They are playing near me and I had to listen to this song as soon as I saw. I wondered if they still played it live. Considering the trouble to go see them ❤
K linda cancion de amor.
2am in the morning and it's the same old pain and anguish going through vmy head about a girl that stole my heart 30 years ago and then lost to me and so close yet so far away from me right in this moment I'll never stop believing R.A.H. that there is some way somehow in sometime we can be together again and you can learn what real love from a real man is I got 30 years of it saved up for only you
