  • TKD is a good mix with MT.. Especially if you are tall.. very good striking. I took Karate for a bit and use a couple of Karate kicks when I spar in MT and people dont see those kicks coming. Osss!

  • I wouldn't say grappling is a bad idea, and the concept of mma is to combine striking and grappling styles to broaden your knowledge. I train in ITF Taekwon-do but I don't leave out other martial arts, especially traditional Ju Jitsu, judo and even bjj as they've got alot of manipulation techniques and standing takedowns. Taekwon-do could win in mma but it would be safer to learn to survive on the ground too, just as a back up plan, if they're good on their feet, take them to the ground.

  • @minase0906 I'm a TKD black belt, and I disargee with you, mostly because few TKD practicioners are trained in no holds barred fighting. The tools are there if you want to use them, but the problem is that TKD contests, especially Olympic ones are too rigid in their scoring system. It really causes many TKD people to only practice those kicks that will help them in competition. However, fighters like Anderson Silva use TKD in MMA, but know how to use the hands, and grappling holds as well.

  • well check it, a sport is a sport, mma has rules, and tkd has rules in their match, but when it comes down to using it, most people want to defend themselves against two or more people, so grappling or goin on the floor won't do the work, TKD ,which is mostly offensive, kicks ass, it can defend you against two or more people. i agree with 9SoulFire9

  • You are right, i'm a practitioner and i would never fight like this in a real fight, people would criticize and say what i'm doing looks like muay thai and mma, and i'd say no it's tkd from the dojang not the competition, same as most ma's would look different outside.

  • Does anyone know what the rules of the match were? I'm taking this is obviously semi contact. I am somewhat disappointed in the kick boxer. His guard was all over the place, you can't protect your head with your hands flapping about and there were too many missed opportunities for the kick boxer to have taken advantage over.

  • @9SoulFire9 Just as misguided it is for people to critique TKD sport practitioners for fighting with their hands down, its also misguided to critique mma practitioners for fighting on the ground. At the highest levels of sport both worlds take advantage of the protection offered to them by their respective sets of rules. Its not a good or bad thing its just how the game is played. In real life its not the style but the practitioner and the correct mind set of peace and prevention that prevails

  • My opinion to, I like to watch a UFC fight bit i don't like how all the fans think mma is invincible, jiu jitsu is the last thing i would try to use in a real life setting with more then one person, and all the strikes used in muay thai are used in most stand up styles. and they don't realize some of the elite fighters like Anderson silva and Machida are using very commen tkd and karate style kicks, they just get convinced by joe rogans comments. glad i started when i was 7 so i wasn't convinced

    @barefootbandit83@barefootbandit8312 жыл бұрын
  • @parahumanoid I think street fights are very different to what you go through in a ring - you have rules etc. and you can afford to be creative in your combinations (which implies falling). When in a tight situation where you defend urself, you have to compromise the opponent into a state where he cannot retaliate....the two are inseperable I get it. I am just saying that I disagree with your conclusion that you draw from a fall in a fight with rules

  • The thing that amuses me the ,most is when a jiu jitsu guy is getting is ass kicked by a stand up fighter so he lays down hoping the guy will grapple with him, or putting a knee on the floor in the clinch to avoid a knee to the face, and all the things you said, and that's what all the mma noobs think is the real deal, Machida is a good karate fighter though, seems to make the shotokan point sparring style work in a full fight.

    @NeverJustWords@NeverJustWords12 жыл бұрын
  • @pigballs911 Point Prooven good sir but isn`t it more important to train in the Martial Art you are good at which makes you happy? I don`t train TKD,Muay Thai and normal boxing because i want to beat everybody up. I have fun by training. That is what counts. And btw. it is always the fighter who is responsible for his lost or his wins not the Martial art. In fact of course there is no TKD or Kung fu in UFC, when you see the heavy weight.You have to be incredible fast to score a hit with your leg

  • @176Aido I think exactly what I said, nothing more: falling is near equal to a loss in an aggressive street fight scenario. The other guy, although got his nose crunched, stayed solid on his two feet that that alone can go a very long way. Do me a favor, don't consider anything "clear" about me. You don't even know me, let alone how many and what kind of situations I went trough. Ever been in a knife fight? Errors (such as falling) are expensive when push comes to shove.
