Wow! Amazing work as usual 😊 beautiful arrows 😍👍
Beautiful work. I like your bamboo bows
Very trusting chickens 😀 Great job on the arrows.
Poetry in motion, what a pleasure to watch, thanks .
Beautiful craftsmanship...a pleasure to watch.
I live in the US and I’m still amazed by how in anything made in Japan has its own unique beauty in them and could be seen as a Masterpiece and would not be out of place in an Art Museum.
this is in taiwan, not japan.
Actually it is Taiwan indigenous style, they had been affected by Japan culture during Japanese occupation,so some of their culture looks similar.
Thanks for the compliment, the experience of making furniture tells me that the details are the devil.

Excelente arte/trabalho/aula. Parabéns.
Very nice work.
Very nicely done. Don't know much about making arrows but looks like it takes a while to do.
Beautiful work. I applaud your craftsmanship and skill.
Thank you, nice to meet you.
I love your tools
Beautiful arrows. Any reason you didn't use a spokeshave to cut down the tenon?
beautiful work. I always wanted to try making footed arrows, but the idea of cutting such long tapers always seemed like a difficult thing to manage since I don't have a bandsaw. But seeing you manage it with a handsaw makes me want to try it.
Thank you, are you an archer?
Very nice work. Smaller fletches might help with speed.
Super, très belle réalisation - From Beauvais in France 👍👍👍
Red Mahogany might be worth a trial and it's beautiful too.
Awesome fletching work. Your arrow jigging tools are very well thought out. Nice work.
Thanks, there is still a lot of room for improvement
Parabéns, belo trabalho com muita maestria e capricho. Brasil.
It has been a while since the last time I made a bamboo arrow. I have damaged a few during practice and borrowed friends to use it. The arrow is not enough. It is time to make a new arrow. This time I used ash wood as the main material, and made a tenon on the arrow part, adding purple heartwood and rosewood to enhance the physical strength of the arrow, and also increased the weight of the arrow for a counterweight. Insert the horn piece into the tail to make the tail of the arrow. The overall system of the arrow is a bit heavier, and the shooting speed feels much slower than the bamboo arrow, but the stability is quite good. The arrow axis is also relatively straight. Next time I want to find wood with sufficient strength but lightweight to make. If you have suggestions for making wood for arrow shafts, you can leave a message below for suggestions. Thank you for watching.
Do you desire greater range, greater velocity, or just durability? In the West arrows have been typically made of strong but variably flexible hardwoods like ash, elm, willow, spruce and oak that are generally about twice as dense as bamboo which is nevertheless up to dozens of times stronger than them. For the same diameter and length, bamboo should be more durable than any hardwood. Physics says a heavier arrow will accelerate less than a lighter arrow for a given "weight" of bow (F=ma; more m means less a for a given F), but it will also be deflected less by wind and lose less speed due to air resistance. Your feel is backed by science. ;>) Determine what properties you want your arrows to have and mix and match materials as needed to get the mas you want and the mass distribution you need. There is no reason you can't have, for instance, bamboo shafts with ironwood (very dense and very hard) heads and maple (dense but resilient) feet.
To watch you and your neat and precise craftmanship is relaxing and almost therapeutic, an extremely enjoyable presentation...right down to your choice of relaxing background music. Very well done.
+Ian Klutke Thanks for watching.😉

I love how the chickens are completely oblivious to the fact your loosing arrows right over there heads like it's normal. Lol.

Just thought I would point out so people don’t get confused: for most English speakers, when we say “super glue” we mean the “3-second glue” you used on the threads. The glue you used to attach the feathers we call “contact cement”. Beautiful work as always.
Thanks for your correction, I will update my subtitles. ^_^
I thought it was PVA glue he used on the flight feathers and super glue on the threads. I could be wrong.
Perhaps it would be worth it to take a look at old fly fishing rods, the 6 piece split cane rods made of bamboo. This would be precious arrows but should be very light yet strong.
A master arrow smith!
superbe tres belle réalisations bravos
Great tutorial, thank you, but why do you flatten the arrow point by hammering ?

It's times like these when I'm glad I have a bandsaw. I need to get more wooden planes though, but it's always relaxing watching these videos.
Beautiful work and execution! Thanks for sharing, Wood I would recommend is Sika spruce, light and very strong. I’m about to build a bow following the inspiration from your work. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for your suggestion, I will buy it and try it
@@woodenren ... I agree with Jose. Sitka spruce is very strong, light and straight grained. It was the wood of choice for aircraft.
Port Orford Cedar is the standard for arrrows.

Thank you for such a very informative video, sir. I am a professional Traditional Archer in building Custom Reflex/Deflex longbows from Hickory, Brazillian Walnut and backed with Bamboo. My arrows are built from Port Orford Cedar and they are all match-graded to the draw weight of the bow. I also weigh each arrow to where they are within 10 grains from arrow number one, to arrow number twelve, on a jewelers scale, as I build them in lots of a dozen (12). It is almost exactly like shooting the same arrow throughout.
You're doing it the proper way. He's very artistic but his groups at such a short distance are very poor. His bow is very slow, doesn't generate any arrow speed and he probably doesn't know how important it is to match spline and weight of a set of arrows.
Thank you for your suggestion. After making this set of arrows, I also found this point. I need to standardize the entire set of arrows.
Boa noite, o senhor faz flechas para encomenda? Comprimentos....

Thank you for your compliment, so glad you like it.
split bamboo has been used for many years for fishing rods, especially fly poles. 6-8 pcs hexagonal, then rounded. Light cheap strong. would make good arrows, old books would show how to split shape and glue them up
Bamboo arrows are traditional in China, but not made like a fly rod.

I have that exact same saw. But, there is no way I could use mine to make those long vee slots in the Purple Heart. Very nice work.
Amazing job, even with the improvisations: have you tried to make a billiards set?
haven't done it yet
Thanks for your suggestion, I will give it a try.

hello to France!!!!
Beautiful arrows. I would fine tune them before fletching to try and get a perfectly flying arrow (all of them landing perpendicular to the target). It's known as bareshaft tuning, shooting an arrow without feathers until it is the right length and weight. Takes some fine tuning with front of center weight and getting the right arrow spine for your draw, but this is a year late. I'm sure you've totally nailed this now. Beautiful work friend!
Thank you for your suggestion to straighten the job do you also use fire roasting?
@@woodenren oh for a straight arrow yes. But to get the arrow to fly straight after you shoot it, you need to mess with how much weight you put on the front of the arrow and how thick the arrow is.
Form following function, exquisite workmanship, strength and durability, all anchored to purple heartwood, tenoned to a heart of steel. Your craft is equalled by few my friend. Just wonder if my 50 lb., Bear Recurve would enjoy shooting such a thing of beauty. Very best wishes my friend.
If it is an ash wood shaft, I think it will be fine.
@@woodenren ...and as Ash trees grow most places, it should make many arrows cheaply. The Purple-Heartwood is the costly portion, as it's not a commonly found resource in North America. Beautiful final result though. Thank you.
@@murraykriner9425 Ashwood is also quite cheap in Taiwan, and purple heartwood is about twice as expensive, and the price is acceptable.

Excelente vídeo wooden ren.
Thank you, nice to meet you.
Thumbs up for you! Great job in hand making the wooden arrows for the bamboo bow! Have a question for you: Why chosen Ash/Rosewood and Purple heart wood? someone suggest or as per your wood working experience! Also have some suggestion:1.arrow length: usually the length should be within 1" ranger longer of archer's Draw Length 2.tip: I saw you use hammer to punch the arrow head into the shaft. better apply some super glue in gluing up the shaft/head. It will last longer time.3.Tail/horn material: correct me if I am wrong. the horn material is quite expensive so really do not need to use that material, I am sure some views here may be interested in asking customer order for them so to lower down the cost just used the wooden shaft is good enough.4.you will need to measure the weight of each arrow and put the arrow with the similar weight lot in same group so the shooting result(grouping) will be better.5.About 35 years ago. I have a trade customer in USA(A very famous archery maker)ask us to make a project for junior archery equipment that included the wooden arrow, during that time we have try to use Southern Asia hardwood like larmin/rubber wood..etc but all those wooden shaft were not working at all so the project was not making. Back to current days In my Canada archery club, some member did shooting the traditional bow with wooden arrow and they use either maple. Oak or some north America hard wood. I also learned to make the straight wooden arrow, you will need to treat each shaft with fire/heat treatment. so this will be a very longer progress time .Also suggest to apply a thin top coating or stain on top of the wooden shaft as unfinished shaft will be very easy to absorb the moisture and making the shaft tent to twist and very difficult to keep it straight. Hope above input can give you some information that you may need in making wooden arrow!!
Thank you for your reply, I learned a lot of mistakes in making this batch of arrows, keeping the weight and length of each arrow and the choice of wood. I use ash because it is the wood that many arrow manufacturers would choose, so I want to try it, but I think it is too heavy for a bow with a low pound. Purple heart wood and rosewood are just beautiful in color and high in hardness to prevent arrows from bursting.
North American traditional arrows are mostly made from Port Orford Cedar. When it temporarily became scarce, Sitka Spruce and Norway Pine was used. People who like heavy shafts for hunting, may use Rock Maple or Ash.
Complimenti! 👏🏻👏🏻 Lavoro eccellente!🏆
Thank you for your compliment, so glad you like it.
Sacchrum munja plant stick is very light n strong, can be used for making arrow

I would consider using spruce. It has been used for over 100 years for aircraft production. It is both light and strong with very straight grain. I feel that these properties would be well suited to arrows as well.
thanks,i will try it.
Sitka spruce from Alaska is the Spruce used for aircraft, hollow masts for yachts and arrow shafts. That is a 'birds mouth' joint in English. You do very good work!
