Being electric isn't a bonus. Here's a list of issues I've picked up on electric car owners having: 1. Charging stations are uncommon, overcrowded, overcomputerized, and buggy as hell. 2. The need for massive batteries that often occupy the entire floorboard of the car means that significant portions of the battery suite can be damaged in even a minor impact, leading to spontaneous combustion that can't be extinguished by conventional firefighting. People are burning to death. 3. The massive amount of current that flows through these cars is perfectly safe... providing the insulation is undamaged. Cue fender bender, and suddenly you have a lethal electric shock to drivers and/or bystanders. 4. Who can afford a new car? Cars in general need to be simplified and made more affordable. 5. Who wants to maintain a new car? New-model cars are overcomplicated and repairs are overpriced, leading to poor resale potential. That's not unique to electric cars, I've personally sworn off anything made after y2k just because they are so damn complicated and expensive even for the most minor repairs. Bottom line, electric cars are a possibility someday, but maybe not the best possibility. I personally would advocate some kind of biomass-based fuel such as biodiesel or butanol instead due to the extreme safety issues mentioned above. For now though, people keep listening to the propaganda blitz and buying electric cars, and then dumping them again because the Democrats keep trying to put the cart before the horse. Manipulating the market to force us to buy them when we can't afford them and can't work them into our daily lives isn't going to work. It's just going to crash the market and wreck our country when we suddenly can't afford to support the cars we have, and STILL can't afford or support an electric car, and CAN'T get mass-transit service for our commute. You HAVE to make them practical FIRST. No excuses about how haaaaaaard it is. Otherwise you FAIL and all the effort you put into it is WASTED, along with the resources that go into them, and the time which is always a-ticking. So, open up your wallets--YOURS, not mine--and spend your money developing the needed technologies to a mature state, and building the infrastructure needed to support them. When that is done, and electric cars are a genuinely good option, you won't need to cheat (which is what we think of your market manipulation, screwing around with the price of gas and gas-powered cars) to get us to buy them.

An all electric car like that that runs out of juice has to get towed. A gas car you could @ least get a gas can & put gas in it & drive it away. That would be lame to have to tow a car that expensive because it ran out of juice. People really think that’s cool?
first of all, to let it run out you need to ignore the battery and warnings complete you can drive about 20 miles or more with 0% and you can carry a charging box with you in the back with battery in it that can get you 40 more miles
