We built the world's largest Nerf Gun with Mark Rober and obliterated some watermelons with it! We also compared the black powder cannon to the existing pneumatic air system.

What does "Jerry rig" mean? I've heard it was some sort of slur against Germans or something... is that true?
Dude this video is obviously rigged, I've been watermelon hunting for almost 10 years now and never have I seen more than 2 in the clear. I once heard a story of a guy who went hunting and saw 4 out by his plot, but I don't believe it to be true. These watermelons are either tied down, tamed or sedated to be killed for fun. It's still sad any way you look at it.

Yeah! Get fairy lights( not too heavy) cut the end off that should go in the mains, and put the two wires that were inside the fairy lights cable onto the ends of the D or 9V battery. Then shove that in a projectile.

Also, the aspect ratio of your projectile isn't ideal for non-spin-stabilized flight. If you made a flechette you might have better results. But really an awesome project. Might inspire me to finally build my DIY nerf sniper rifle...

Y'all should try it again sometime but try using a waddingof some sort to help the projectile survive the explosion. Maybe a cylinder of foam?

The large chunks of watermelon aren’t from the amount of black powder there from the size and shape of the projectile

The other video had said your page would show how you made this. The regular nerf gun, not the cannon. I think a much smaller version would be a great way to introduce the kids to science, they already love paintball. Awesome video!

+Eclectical Engineering no worries, if possible, I like the slow-mo exploding stuff, I have an idea in that respect. the chemical reaction of glow sticks liquids being fired together, or just exploded in general. if they're pre-heated a bit the reaction happens faster. it might be interesting?

The last shot of you three guys standing "together", you can subtely tell that you guys green-screened yourselves in front of the video of his response. It was very well done and you guys did a very admirable job of making it look like you all were standing together... but maybe try a couple of lighting filters or editing filters to soften yourselves and bring the brightness up or the contrast lighter to better match the engineer friend's background video so it looks a bit more like are actually standing with him instead of in front of a green screen in post. You did a VERY awesome job of cutting yourselves in and making it look like the three of you were standing together... it just can se a few tweaks to make it look totally natural. :-) Good luck, and great work guys!!! Awesome video!

After you reinforce the projectile what you need is a longer barrel which actual Nerf modders do

Use electrical ignitors. Bilusocn e matches are very reliable and cheap. buy em on amazon. Helps to keep your fingers XD. Also use composite g10 bulkheads and or tubes for anything over 7grams. I shoot sounding rockets so blowing up tubes is what I'm good at :D.
