  • It’s honestly insane how far Hyundai/Kia have become, if 10-15 years ago people said one day you’ll over 100k for either brand they’d honestly think you have a mental issue. They are killing it and their cars are homestly a class above most of their competitors. Their cars look awesome and sleek, the performance of the N/N Line models is exhilarating and fun, they are very AMG-esque. I love the Sonata N Line and i30 Sedan N, they always put a smile on your face each time you get behind the wheel. I must admit I’m not a fan of EV’s but what Hyundai has done with this is exceptional, although the fake noises are gimmicky atleast they’re trying to put some fun in the boring EV world and the performance is absolutely breathtaking. You’ll be destroying alot of European supercars off the lights in this, even in a roll you’ll gap alot of the competition that costs double or triple this car. Han from F&F: Tokyo Drift won’t be dissing Hyundai today.

  • Several comments here comparing this car with the Tesla Model 3 (or Y) Performance. There is no question that the Hyundai is a better handling track-focused car than the Model 3P, more fun to drive and, to some people, better looking . But there are some reality tests. Its big and very heavy (2.2 tonnes) and consumption is monstrous - 24 kWh/100 km. That will have the biggest impact when it is used as a daily driver. I have owned a 2019 Model 3P for 5 years and 110,000 km and have averaged under 15 kWh/100 km. Its just as quick off the line as the Hyundai, but probably slower round a technical track. How often is that going to matter? In the end these vehicles get used mostly for work travel, shopping, family trips, taking kids to sportsdays - all the mundane aspects of daily life. If you factor in the lower cost higher efficiency and convenience of charging I think I'd still buy the Tesla.

Also I just cant personally justify a ~16k usd price premium over a MYP for a very small increase in shits n giggles at the cost of range and charging infrastructure - especially here on the west coast. I love the 5n as a thing that exists, but it's main draw is trackability increase over competitors, but if i was actually going to track a car again id most definitely not go with a $66k usd unrepairable Hyundai. I'd just mod a used miata for 1/5 the price and end up with a better track car

    • First off, this car isn’t a small hatch, it’s actually kinda big. By the time you get an m3p on road with the options you want it’s not going to be 90k. The $111k for this includes everything. The ionic 5 n is less boring, keeps going lap after lap and has good suspension. I know where I’d put my money.

      @ReapZ1373@ReapZ1373Ай бұрын
    • @@ReapZ1373 By all accounts all things the new ludicrous m3p has sorted. I'm not saying the m3p is better yet, we really have no idea what it will actually drive like, but we do know it will have 461kw, weigh 1854kg, adaptive suspension, new big brakes, 80kwh pack, 528km wltp range, 261kph top speed, Pzero tires. We know this because these are the specs as per the euro regulations. It will be cheaper, longer range and faster though, that's a pretty hard thing to overcome off the bat. That 111k for the 5n is before on roads too, so more like 120k on the road. The M3L might even scrape into the $89330 lct threshold in which case it's a slam dunk, makes like a 60k car in the real world for those lucky enough to be on a lease. The 5n looks to be brilliantly engineered and I'm glad other manufacturer's are doing their actual best to make it worth the money, still very expensive though, they can both be true.

  • Paul, great review and it sounds like an amazing car. But I have to ask why is it so rare that you see any electric cars made by Hyundai or Kia on the road, and yet you see tons of Teslas? I think it is still that Huyndai and Kia are not serious about supplying our market in any proper way. And the price of the N at some $111K says it all. Similarly the Mach e Mustang GT at $115K is a silly amount of money. The MG4 XPower is only $60K, that is a big difference. And I bet for most punters the XPower would be more than enough in terms of how fast it is. If you wanted to get it to handle better, and have better brakes, you would get plenty of change out of $5K I bet, and still have saved yourself some $46K on the N.
