"It doesn't look as cool though" is pretty much all you need to respond to any logical flaws in this movie.
Sure, but it's ineffective against the hammy acting, the nonsense story and the awful script, which all butt in during the most boring-looking parts.
Yeah but you can't use a sword in water.
rockyblacksmith oMl Lui LOL L
Agreed, and this movie was great. My bro is always trying to tell me how bad it was because of the plot holes, but I'm like "Holy shit did you not see the robots fighting the Kaiju though?" The reason this movie is, like, in my top 20 is because of the amount of screen time you get just watching epic fights.

Pacific Rim is one of those movies where I walk out feeling like it's one of the best movies of the year, and then the next day realizing all of the plot holes. Still love the movie tho

0:27 actually they build the robots because of the Kaiju blood. First they killed them with nukes,... and the blood was toxic and killed literally everything in the ocean and rivers and at land. To prevent that, they used the robots to fight them by punching, to not cause this much blood. The canons and the sword they had was also just as last option, if they really can’t fight they Kaiju with the fists anymore.
I mean, you could just use extremely powerful *concussive* projectiles.
Aced Ace yeah, that’s what they do in some way. Striker Eureka has rockets in the chest that can be fired and are made for extreme strong hits and less explosion effect. It killed an Kaiju with some of them instantly. The problem is, that these rockets are this big that you would need a very strong plane to transport them and to hit with them the Kaiju very accurate if they are dropped by a plane is nearly impossible. Also you would need several planes to drop them because it need to be a lot rockets of them to kill one Kaiju. And if they don’t hit with the rockets dropped by plane it’s over. So a Jäger transporting this rockets and still having the fight ability with strong punches and having swords and plasma canons as last Option fight is way better against these Kaijus.
Cant the just build a wall around the breach . I mean if a nucleared powered giant robot is possible. Do that and when they emerge just have a jeager ready and cut them. Lmao
Shark Quark still loved this movie tho. It is probably the most realistic and awesome giant robot fighting kaijus.

I always wondered how they lost any Jaegers if they have never had more than one Kaiju emerge at a time, until the end of the movie. Have all the Jaegers ready at all times and it’s never a problem.
i think it’s because when a jaeger kills a kaiju the next kaiju is genetically adapted and upgraded to destroy the jaeger which defeated the last one. Like Otachi and Leatherback spitting acid and using the electromagnetic attack. It’s also seen when the Kaiju breaks through the massive coastal wall, i think it was specifically designed to break through the wall probably because the previous kaiju couldn’t. That’s why they kept building the walls until they saw on tv that a kaiju broke through.
To have the Yeager's always ready, which I'm going to assume you mean have their pilots in them all the time and ready, would take a lot of energy most likely.
Well, we saw how Crimson and Cherno dealt with two Kaiju (poorly), in a generally pretty even fight.
The Jaegers weren't all in the same base/Shatterdome but were all across the Pacific. Hong Kong, Nagasaki, Tokyo, Sydney, Anchorage, Los Angeles, Panama City and Lima. There were times when more than one Jaeger attacked a kaiju such as when Horizon Brave, Gipsy Danger and Striker Eureka or Lucky Seven fought MN-19 in Manila.
The worst part about all these Pacific Rim plothole videos is most of their points are valid, but are only plotholes because they ripped out one very important piece of information from the movie. Kaiju blood is fucking horrid. You spill it, almost all life around it will die. During the first attack, using conventional weapons were supposed to have broke the skin eventually and created a really bad epidemic. The whole point of the Jaegers was blunt trauma. The sword was there only as an absolute last resort. You bring out the sword, you kill every human around you.
not only that but they actualy DID use nukes in the beginning. between them and the nukes, if humanity continued using nukes, soon there would be no livable areas left, thanks to nuclear winter. they had to figure out the alternative and sure maybe giant robots wasn't the most logical of the alternatives, but this is not a "srs" science fiction movie either.
Yeah right there were millions of people in the MIDDLE OF THE FU**ING OCEAN.
But thats why the "Power Vacum Team" was there, to clean the mess as soon as the fight ended. All they really had to do was just get an insolated area for them to kill the monster with their blades. And dont tell me it would take to long cause they always calculated the time the Kaijus would apear.
worst video worst video
OH MY GOD DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE THIS? ATTACK ON TITAN? YEAGER? THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT ANIME? FRICK U ALL.
The reason why they didn't use the sword is because the Kaiji Blood is too acidic so they can't have it spilling everywhere
+Luciano Martinez Yes, it's much better to destroy half the city fighting them.
+Luciano Martinez And the alternative wouldn't have spilled their blood everywhere?
Runemaster Besides, its not like theres a million human cities by the crack that'll get destroyed.

About the nuke part, the governments did use nukes to kill the first Kaiju that appeared from the breach. The fallout was massive though as both the nuke and the Kaiju itself produced elements which were deadly to humans and all surrounding life. The next few kaiju were taken out with nukes too. Again this took a toll as the fallout made it a pyrrhic victory and they came to the conclusion that they couldn't just keep nuking them. This is all explained in the tie in comics.

I love the parts where he easily kills the kaijus, especially when the indipendence day meme comes along 🤣
I used to think the sword is the most effective weapon, but now that I think about it it's actually the plasma cannon. It's clearly shown in the film, the plasma cannon is so powerful it does need to be in melee range to kill the Kaiju. The only reason it seemed weaker is because they rely on it too much and easily believed that the Kaiju can be killed in 3 shots. The problem is because he didn't confirm the kill, not because the plasma cannon is less effective. The sword, however, is only effective in really close range. On top of it, it's way more difficult to land a direct hit compared to the plasma cannon.

I liked it. Instead of making Pacific Rim: Part 1 we got a lead in to when the movie actually gets good.
1:21 I was expecting super man to catch them like when he caught that plane that time
2:17 This channel predicted Pacific Rim 2
The reason why the sword wasn't used from the start, based on my interpretation, was that the pilots (Mako and Raleigh) didn't want to reveal all of their weapons and techniques unless absolutely necessary. Don't forget, the Kaiju can eventually adapt themselves to counter the Jaegers (eg. the EMP attack used by Leatherback to counter Striker Eureka's missiles).
Which is why standing at the crack waiting for them to come up wouldn't work because they would have adapted armor to resist the sword...
but they didnt know that kaijus could adapt at that point

Pacific Rim was a good, fun movie. It didn't pretend to be anything more, and it had a fine ending. How It Should Have Ended, is how it ended.
Well except it doesn't make much sense that the main duo was able to eject back through the portal without a Kaju
Michael Irizarry details....
Details? That was the ending. How it should have ended, should have been that when the main characters try to eject out of there, they realize that they can't.
@@Mikito456 well no one said that you need kaiju dna to get out🤷♂️
@@Mikito456 i know im 8 years late, but the kaiju they killed while dropping into the breach never came out. The kaiju corpse was still in there when they ejected out
They must have been like: Huh, Godzilla was nearly killed by another robot
If the humans nuked the monsters before Godzilla's surfacing.... The humans would be in serious trouble since Godzilla can absorb radiation as if Godzilla got steroids.
"GO GO POWER VACCUME!!!!"
"Wow, this sword was really effective. Why didn't we open with that?" Totally asked that question during the movie. Same with the nukes. Why didn't they try nuking the Kaiju? Still, it was a good movie.
Same thing my dad said.
Dropping a nuclear bomb in the middle of a large city would be an absolute last resort, as this would easily cause as much if not more damage than a giant, rampaging monster. Plus the contamination from the fallout would be catastrophic and unpredictable. In the prequel comic, it is explained that the first four kaiju to attack were, in fact, destroyed with nuclear weapons. The fourth kaiju, "Scissure", which attacked Sydney, apparently took several days to lure it out to the sea where it could be safely nuked without decimating and contaminating all of Sydney along with it. It is precisely for this reason that the Jaeger program was developed because, if humanity had to continue to drop nukes every time a kaiju showed up, that would wipe the human race out all on its own. Guillermo del Toro has stated that he does not intend Pacific Rim to be a "realistic" depiction of a giant monster invasion. Rather he intends the film to be a "beautiful poem to giant monsters"; that is, a stylized throwback to the giant monster genre.
fusiontoa18 didn't know there was a prequel comic, where did you saw it??
Nukes Kaiju in the open sea is all right. Nukes your own city, not a good idea.
You should look up tactical nuclear weapons. They would've worked, even in a city.
There's one thing that bugged me during the whole movie. Why the hell do people still live in cities near the Pacific coast, when big-ass monsters come from said ocean? Every sane being would have moved far away from any sea, and the Jaegers would have an easier job, since they would be given way more time. But I guess living and LA or Tokyo has sufficient perks to make you forget about giant monsters fights that have a good chance of killing you instantly. Makes sense.
It said that people were evacuated to the middle of the United States, but that some people wanted to stay.
Well, probably the same reason why people still live near volcanoes and areas in the Pacific Ring of Fire, they are either too poor to move, or the resources found in the region, and the fact that other probable areas are already too densely populated for any more people to evac too.
Think about how many people still live in the "tornado" areas.
the problem with that is the stupid humans thought the walls would protect them but as we saw the walls were easily destroyed which brings uo another point the wall builders saw the wall being broken then about 30 minutes later THERE STILL BUILDING THE WALL! even though the kaiju can break through them
Jorge Torres its not that bad... they really dont happen too often, and when they do they rarely effect anything. ive lived in kansas for 16 years so far, seen 3 tornadoes in person, none of em did any damage. you only hear about the freak cases where they take out a whole damn town.
'After watching a ton of anime, they decided to build monsters of their own'
You know that scene where the guy with the cane is saying at some point 2 kaiju would come and then after 3 and then 4, makes me wonder if at some point Kaiju would just come out of breach like a Gatling gun
"Hello Boys, I'm Back!!!" Lawl

2:02 go go power vacuum!
This was so simple, and yet … perfect.
I always found it amusing when you see soldiers in Pacific Rim and Godzilla carrying regular rifles. As if they could possibly have caused the slightest amount of damage to one of the Kaiju.
Have you ever heard about infiltrator's.
I think anyone who watched the movie asked that "why not use the sword in the beginning " idea lol, but then we wouldn't have a cool movie
Or why not drop Daisycutters from far, far out of reach, or fire cruise missiles from thousands of miles away that would have hundreds of times more kinetic yield than the strongest Jaeger punch...
To answer the sword question, Kaiju blood is very acidic and toxic. If they were to use swords all the time, the surrounding area would be uninhabitable.
Go go power vacuum. Mighty morphin power vacuum.
The art and animation is so good and this is my first time watching one of your videos on this channel’s video...

"IIIIIII'MMMM BAAAAAAAACK." Best ID ref ever.
actually the funny part about the movie is that the entire jaeger program idea formed when someone saw their child play with his toys.
Ya know in the movie lore the reason they stopped using nukes and built the Jaegers was because the kaiju always attacked densely populated areas and nukes killed all the surviving suvillions and make the land scape inhabitable so the jaegers were more practical

Voltron.
My face broke into a smile when I saw the Megazord from MMPR.
Well, they actually did Nuke them at first, problem was they swam from the portal too fast for the Nukes to reach em in time from the launch sites outside the blast radius (they could have just hooked up a ton of subs to operate automated and sacrificed one each time to point blank fire them but meh). Then they had the problems with the Nuke blast radius required for them to be destroyed was too big and started causing damage to the environment on a catastrophic scale. Then the Kaijuu just became too big and started tanking Nuke salvos, with one of them tanking at least two rounds (they literally had to lure it back out of the city twice to Nuke it, ended up irradiating 1/3rd of the city in the process). Also fighting them at the Breach was harder, because surprisingly Jaegers aren't good at swimming. The Kaiju had far too many advantages in deep sea fighting, so they had to wait until they were in shallower coastal waters to have any chance.
Where is all this lore from?
The kaiju and the Yagers would crumble under gravity
U know fish live down there right? The Kaiju are thicc and the jaegers are thicc metal like a sub

So we built robots, named em Jeagers. Well, it worked in Attack on Titan
Have you ever seen Attack on Titan? Because this is very far from Attack on Titans story. To anyone else reading and disagreeing, giant monsters attack attacking j humans doesn't mean rip off of attack on titan
As a matter of fact I have seen AOT, and I was referring to Eren's ability to transform into a Titan and fight other Titans as a monster of their size. I found that similar to how humanity built the Yeagers to be able to fight the Kaiju as a being of the same size as well as Eren's last name being the name of the giant robots.
And so a comment pissing war is born!
Seems abilities are gene injected into him from i s father as a young child. I do agree that the fact that Eren transforming to a titan is very similar to robots that same size as the kaiju
Savon Strowder I think he was reffering to Eren Yeager Robots named Jeagers that saved mankind from kaijus A boy named Eren Yeager who saved mankind from titans

In the movie they burn the thruster in the chest just before impact, which could have reduced their velocity bellow "killer-asteroid" levels. Kind of like how SpaceX does with it's return rocket.
Forget the fact that they should have killed everyone. How in the world was Otachi able to lift Gipsy up in the sky, taking the fact that BOTH of them are super heavy!
It landed in a stadium you know, instead of an entire city full of buildings?
Is it just me or was everyone expecting a Gundam to show up after Voltron?

AyakoAki I was thinking Gundam Deathscythe Hell, or maybe Gundam Epyon for the job. Something with a powerful beam weapon that can slice and dice...

Duo's epithet in the Gundam Wing is "The God of Death." it would therefore be fitting for Gundam Deathscythe to personally escort the belligerent kaiju to oblivion...
I was hoping Wing Zero would be up in the sky ready to blow the Kaju to bits

Lol "The UN decided to watch a ton of anime."
Let me clear up a few plot holes for you all, First off, nukes have this little thing called fallout that really fucks up the environment and anyone living in it. Second off, it took not one, not two, but THREE tactical nuclear missiles to kill what can only be a catagory 1, or at most catagory 2 kaiju; Seeing as knifehead was the first catagory three they claim to have seen in the kaiju war. And they only got stronger after that so this is not a viable long term solution. Slattern even survived a massive point blank nuclear blast while already severely injured, and that bomb was far more powerful than anything we had previously, so yeah. Nukes wont solve everything. Second, we tried nuking the breach, they explained this in the movie. There is a barrier between us and the anteverse that only allows things with the kaiju DNA signature to pass, anything else, like nuclear bombs and jaegers, is simply deflected. Third, not everything can be fixed by static defenses. There are so many things that can go wrong with that. A, if we have a bunch of plasma cannons around the breach and continue to kill kaiju with them, what if they adapt to our tactics(like they have been shown to do!) and make a kaiju that is highly heat resistant? Now not only can we not kill it with the STATIC GUNS MADE SPECIFICALLY TO KILL KAIJU, that it is now out of range of unless we want to arm every single pacific coastal city with a bunch of these plasma cannons, but now we can't even kill it with nukes and other explosive weapons, which make up most of human tech. B, if we have the guns around our city coasts the kaiju could very easily go around onto an uninhabited beach and attack the city from behind, where the guns now cannot shoot because there is a city in the way. And even when they get to the guns they still might eventually adapt to them like I said in point a. C, I do agree that we should make more of those anti kaiju missles that Striker Eureka uses and equip the regular military with anti kaiju weapons like that, but the whole point of the jaegers is a weapons platform that can engage, stop, and kill kaiju before they cause too many civilian casulties. The anti kaiju weapons were developed specifically for the purpose of arming the mechs we made to engage them with weapons capable of killing them. I would also like to point out that they did infact use the sword again and made great use of it when they attacked the breach during Operation Pitfall. The kaiju still managed to fuck both of them up despite this. So yeah, it would not have been this easy. But my rant is over now, I apologise if I offended anyone and wish you all a sincerely good day.
the point of not opening with the sword is still a good one but ye its not like the monsters arent gonna try to dodge the sword swipes and fight back
Why not just cement them in, its not like they have the power to break through 19283729371931237 tons of cement and metal!
or laid an atomic bomb or 2 on their crack, so when they opened it it would fall in...
You must be a blast at parties.

I genuinely hate when people bash the idea of Jaegers because they’re “inefficient”. They tried nukes, they tried guns, and all it did was make land uninhabitable because kaiju blood is toxic.

Excellent movie, honestly. Sure it had some cheesy lines, but it knew it's selling point was kickass robots on monster action, and it nailed that perfectly. Can't wait for the sequel(s).
People who didn't enjoy this movie were thinking too hard. It's not the kind of movie you go in taking seriously--it's a thrill ride with genius-level visuals and a simple, easy-to-follow storyline. It was made for fun, they had fun making it, and it was fun to watch.
this is so nostalgic
God damn you! Why the Independence Day thing? It made me quit from laughing for a minute STRAIGHT! Best unexpected reference EVER!
2:10 If thats REALLY supposed to be Godzilla... then NO.
there is 1 thing that bugs the hell out of me : the giant robots have giant lasers that are really efective against the monsters right WHY NOT COVER THE WHOLE AREA WITH GIANT LASERS... the monsters come from only 1 spot... build a giant wall around it and build on the wall giant lasers problem solved...
that was said on the "everything wrong in pacific rim" video
NOT LASERS! Its a giant plasma torch/gun.
***** Which was why they vacuumed up the remains.
What really bugs me is this whole "drift" thing where the pilots has to get into each others heads. Why?? They still comunticate by talking, and they don't operate the robot with their minds, they push buttons and use their own feet to walk and arms to punch.
Probably for co ordination, you try having 2 people control one game controller, takes some time to work, but they don't have the time of getting used to the other pilot manually with all the kaiju atacks
Damn its been 10 years It was still a great watch honestly
Seen PacificRimrecently and I have to say that its awesome! Love the video but wheres Ron Perlman?
lets see Godzilla: check exploded city: check 2 random robots from Japan: check logic: check this video wins.
Check check Ok
they should have just made a the intro into a movie: 30 min kaiju attack, 30 min building first jaeger, last hour fighting 1 or 2 kaiju
Man, my favorite part of the video is when the Red Power Ranger said "It's cleaning time'' and cleaned up all the mess!
Ahh I remember this classic. I miss this so much.
one thing I didn't get was the escape pods at the end, even if they made it through the dimensional portal (which is unlikely since only Kaiju can go back and forth) they would appear thousands of leagues below the sea, the pressure would crush them in an instant. Also props for noticing the independence day formula.
no escape pods were used in this video
Gandalf The Swaggy he's talking about the actual movie, dumbo.
Andrew Ferris it's a sci-fi movie with robots that can go that deep therefore the movie would have pods as well so either way dumb question
You're watching a movie about giant robots punching giant monsters, and the pressure thing is what's bothering you?
Evangelion fans: *Moooo* "Pacific Rim ripped off Evangelion!" Actually, the writers of Pacific Rim have made it clear in numerous interviews that they didn't think or know about Evangelion. It's almost as if the concept of giant robots fighting giant monsters has been around for decades before Evangelion was made and Del Toro was making a tribute to the shows of giant robots he watched as a child and not that one 90s anime you love so fucking much.
Can you do Pacific Rim: Uprising? I've been waiting for the video to come out.
At the very end when Russell I guess said "Hello Boys, I'm back!" I died of laughter and fell out of my seat
anime saves lives
I feel so stupid only now i realized that the channel is called HISHE because it's How It Should Have Ended
Ooohhhhh....me too.
My mind was still fresh still remember what grade I was and was my first day in 4th grade this is when I found hishe for the first time ever
It feels weird not to have a café scene
Gypsy Danger used Sword! It's super effective!
Pacific Rim should have ended when the 20 minute epic narrative in the intro ended. It just went down hill after that, with the horrendous dialogue, that would give Micheal a run for his money. And the plot twists LOL.
At least the actors weren't as bad as a Michael Bay film. It was the most formulaic film ever, and it still amused me. Admittedly it amused me to start predicting individual lines later on in the film, BUT IT WAS THE MOST AWESOME TERRIBLE MOVIE EVER.
I went in for giant robots beating up giant monsters, and I was not disappointed. That's what the movie was for!
Cailros Maloran well yer...but even then that only lasts so long, when we got to the climax at the end, we wanted "SUPA MONSTER FIGHTING ULTIMATUM!"...not "Oah, we aren't going to beat all of them, tell you what, I'll nuke myself and take them all with me and then you can end the film early".
Alpha Numeric Key I honestly thought they were slightly worse then a Micheal Bay film. It is a shame beacuse many of the actors in Pacific rim are well known incredible actors who have all been nominated or have women emmies. Sadly they should get them taken away from being in this film.
I've been waiting to say this but, can you please do " A series of unfortunate events"(H.I.S.H.E) even though it's not finished yet? I'm just so tempted😂😂😂 thank you!🙂
Please tell me how did you make the video what app did you use for this
