RETIRED DANCER'S REACTION+REVIEW: TWICE "Alcohol Free" Dance Practice!

Supposedly "original gangster”, can be seen as “old generation", personally viewed as “old-school”.🤓
I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Korean and rap music were my coping mechanisms from the bullying I experienced in middle school through high school and my love for the genre has stuck by me ever since.
Unfortunately, I took a huge break from Korean music around 2015 when I was officially diagnosed with lupus nephritis and seizures; I was receiving and battling years of chemotherapy and dialysis along with taking 32 pills a day, so I had no mental/emotional/spiritual room to keep myself updated with the genre. Luckily, I'm in remission now! Doesn't mean that lupus and seizures are gone because I am still very capable of frequent flare-ups of I don't take care of myself, but I make sure to do so enough to manage and live as "normally" as possible.
When I made this KZhead name, I was thinking from my graphic-design-major perspective of a brand that will not only describe what my content will be about but will also align with the times, and y’all know that “Kpop stans” have been a thang for awhile now so hence the cringe-worthy title, OG KPOP STAN. (My love for Eminem is also relevant.😂) ALSO! Just to be SUPER clear- me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" does NOT mean that anyone who's listened to kpop after me is inferior or less-than. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time. Please don’t get that sh*t twisted.😛

momo has said that the most difficult thing about this song is the timing the members say that the choreo includes so many little details, like timing, that need to be done perfectly to make the performance as a whole look appealing. So technically, this counts as one of twices harder choreographies, its just covered by a layer of sensual moves and chill vibes lol

if you’ve watched all the performances and live stages of alcohol-free, you’ll notice that Mina serves different types of alcohol to Dahyun its really cute ❤️
The thing I liked most about TWICE's dancing style is their flowy choreo and the way they utillize space in their formation. Like their moverments feel like they're flowing in the wind and that takes years to master, but TWICE absolutely kills it. In terms of formation, for a fairly big group, 9 members, it's tricky to create a formation that works and at the same time relate to the dance. TWICE's formations are like paintings, they are creative, some are even tricky. They play with levels, invert the previous formation, and others. Plus the way they travel or switch from one formation to another is super clean.

Hi Thina, just as a heads-up some of the girls had a penalty in the secret santa time to twice episodes, and so they had to upload an individual video dancing to their latest comeback (in this case alcohol free). In case you are interested in seeing Nayeon, Chaeyoung and or Jeongyeon, these are very short and funny but you can see a lot of their personalities in them. Also, I am so excited to seeing your reaction to Taste of Love and the next Sixteen episode. Seriously, thank you for your hard work and for giving us all this Twice content!!!! 💖
Here's an interesting trivia about this dance practice... you can tell that it was done midway through their comeback (rather than before their comeback) by the ending, where they all spin right before their ending pose. The original choreo had them stepping into position. Personally, I really like the addition of the spin as it is just that much more dramatic and fits with the Latin-inspired style of the song. Another bit of choreo trivia, there is a section during Dahyun's rap where they simulate Mina as a bartender preparing a drink that she then passes to Dahyun (with the rest forming the bar 😁). In more recent performances, Mina has started playing around with that choreo by changing up how she prepares the drink (e.g. how she shakes the drink, stirring instead of shaking, opening a bottle, etc). Which is not only fun, but a good development since Mina has often commented that she doesn't find herself particularly creative (with the others having said she's very good at reproducing the dance steps exactly as the teacher/choreographer showed them) - meaning, this type of improvisation is her developing her skills around this!
Hmmm.. I do question your first trivia! It could be that the original choreo had this step but they decided to omit it due to the injuries it could cause. You can hear how hard their knees land on the floor, I could imagine they decided not to do the last move live where they're wearing heels + dresses with knees exposed as a pre-comeback decision.
@@TheProduct4you That's plausible. Though a counterpoint is that they did perform it live on the second week of their comeback. Another plausible explanation could be that they hadn't quite master the move (as it can be tricky to get all of them to do it just right and finish in position) in time for the first week, but they also omitted the spin on pre-recorded shows such as when they performed for Ellen.
Jyp need to upgrade their practice room the girls tryna fit themselve for a long time and also they are the pillars of the company. Btw i love your reactions to twice
There is actually no need . The practice rooms are adjacent to each other and there is a wall in between but the thing about the wall is that it will go up . So if they need more space they just have to push the button and we get a huge room . This is probably how they practice for concerts with other dancers
