    • That’s the benefit of having won independence. Wales has watched its culture be absorbed by the British. I think the Welsh see language as a key mechanism to preserving their traditions and culture. I agree. It seems interesting and unique.

    • @@sylviagreenberg3005 Hi as a welsh person I totally agree!! ( If you are Welsh yourself I apologise but I'm assuming you aren't). The Welsh government is trying to reinforce the speaking of the Welsh language in schools to keep the culture alive. Also a small correction but Wales is part of Britain and therefore is British. Thank you for being interested in my country! ( again apologies if you are Welsh yourself)

Or just snuggle in a blanket, or bed, or rug, snug as a bug. It doesn’t mean just a safe feeling in general (“cozy” does though, and can also describe a place or cuddle), but snuggle can represent being in any safe & warm place (often implying another’s arms, but definitely not always).

      @sawchiefs29@sawchiefs29 Жыл бұрын
    • @@DerpASherpa117 No. It is a long story, but many years ago a bunch of new car factories were built in the southern saint louis county area (with significant tax breaks) and the car makers promised lots of jobs. The car makers then closed some plants in Indiana (mostly southern if I am not mistaken, where many residents have Kentucky roots) and offered them jobs at the new Saint Louis plants. So, instead of jobs, Saint Louis area residents got a bunch of working class neighbors, many of whom with southern cultural roots. They moved into an area that was largely a blend of rural and trailer parks and it soon turned into "those filthy Hoosiers came here and took our jobs." It essentially means sort of a blend of hillbilly and white trash. And it is now used everywhere in the city, not just in the southern STLCO region. Imagine my reaction when I relocated to Indiana and saw businesses with "Hoosier" in the title. It was like "White Trash ______" and it felt weird to see used in any manner other than an ironic one. So that's the shortish version of the longer story of why STL is the ONLY place in the world where Hoosier is a bad word equivalent to "white trash."

It is also used and pronounced as an i)....W is used as a U and the oo sound. DD is Th....once you realise this. It becomes pretty simple. The only diffucult pronouncition in Welsh is the Ll sound.
