I enjoyed that. Good substantial tongs, so well made....got to the end and suddenly realized, I bought off this man! Very much enjoying using your tongs man, they are great ones! Have them for years now and used every week. Favourite tongs by far..thank you! Ireland sends blessings!
Just bought a pair. Great to see how they were made.

Yes, very good how to build a powerhammer like yours.
What size are the hammers and presses you use in this please? Do you make the dies out of mild steel or tool steel? All works beautifully together. Very impressive in overall speed.
The press is 25T, but it's the ram speed that's important. Slow pressing acts like a heat sink, cooling the steel, not moving it. The mechanical hammer is 50 kg and the air hammer is 40 kg. The press dies are mild steel, and so is the tapering die on the air hammer. Thanks for your question.

Awesome die set up! Have you tried something similar under the hammers? Might be able to reduce it to 2 heats.
Yes, I've made a few attempts under the hammer, and if I stuck with it, I could probably do it in two heats AND keep the consistency. One day, LOL.
@@lowtonforge6333 I can't seem to find the video, but I saw a die setup that would help a lot. It was similar to your spinning press dies, but instead of spinning it slid across the dies using a small pneumatic cylinder to drive it. All you'd have to do is hit a foot pedal and it'd adjust automatically while being pretty secure.
@@arceusmaster91 I'd like to see that.
@@lowtonforge6333 I'll try and find it again. It was a video of someone operating a large white steam/utility air hammer. I wanna say it was at Funk Forge(I believe its funk forge, he made the electro funk hammer) but I can't be 100% certain
