  • I thought spelling was everything. I seem to remember back in the late 80s early 90s someone spelled their answer wrong and lost, even though, phonetically, everyone knew what they were alluding to. It's good that they've changed that ruling.

    • Spelling mistakes are deemed acceptable as long as the error doesn't result in a different pronunciation of the response. In this case, the second 'a' still had the same sound as the correctly spelled word.

    • cannedmusic was referring to an instance where some kid mis-spelled "The EmancipTation Proclamation" - he accidentally added the T and it costed him the game and his honor. His father and mother disowned him and threw him to the streets without the family name. He's known as BigT on the streets of downtown Toronto, where he frequently performs B & Es and he's addicted to smack. I think I might be wrong about the latter half of the story.

  • I think last night was her first game where she got off to a big lead and never relinquished it. Most of the time she starts off slow, and then caches up in the second round. I know she's still winning, but she makes me nervous sometimes with her style of play. I'm rooting for her though, hope she keeps winning. Most players with a win streak of eight games would be near, or at the $500,000.00 mark by now, I guess she's financially well off. Me, I'd try to win as much as possible. I was surprised last night she didn't make a wager in " Final Jeopardy " I guess it's the gambler in me, I like high rollers, that's why I was such a big fan of James Holzhauer.

  • I like MacKenzie! Very impressive wins. I hope she keeps it going tomorrow. If she wins the next game she’ll reach #2 as the female contestant with the most money. I predict that if she wins 20 games she’ll earn at least half a million.

    • @@masterdoge987 To be fair though, it is really is hard to be a Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer or even a Jason Zuffranieri. They tape 5 shows a day and you only get one brief break for lunch, so we can only imagine how tiring it can be having to stand on your feet all day. I think the main reason very few players even make it to 10 wins is because of that; it's hard to keep up that energy for so long, especially when you're doing this 2 days in a row back-to-back! (Granted I heard there was a month-long gap in tapings between MacKenzie's first 5 episodes and her 4 this week, but still).

    • NicksCoolLife I know, but it’s strange how the last 3 streakers have all lost their ninth game. Could this be the next four-game curse?

      @masterdoge987@masterdoge9874 жыл бұрын
    • @@masterdoge987 Honestly who knows. It does seem like we've been getting an unusual number of streakers lately, so it is indeed possible that we could see yet another 8-game champ before this season is over and we'll find out then!

    • I'm a baby boomer, our English teacher always taught us as kids in grade school, 1960's, ( 5th grade ), if we ever needed to spell a word and couldn't, just break it down, and put it together. Sat-el-lite, satellite, still works to this day. I've always been amazed at the number of people I've encountered in my lifetime that could not spell simple words, I'm like, really?...wow!
