Little information :
Zaouli denotes a popular dance and music practiced by the Gouro communities, in the departments of Bouaflé and Zuenoula, Côte d'Ivoire. Tribute to feminine beauty, Zauli is inspired by two masks: blur and djela. His other name, "Djela Lou Zaouli" means "Zaouli, Djela's daughter". The Zaouli combines sculpture in the same show (the mask), weaving (the costume), the music (the orchestra, the song) and the dance. The Zaouli mask is divided into seven facial masks each translating a specific legend. Holders and practitioners are sculptors, craftsmen, instrumentalists, singers, dancers and notables (guarantors of customs and traditions of the community). Zaouli has an educational, playful and aesthetic function.

  • I have been somehow so intrigued by this ALL week- ever since I saw this type of traditional dancing.. don't laugh but I am in my room trying it! And I am so impressed by your stamina! This takes serious strength. What do you eat, or drink? What is your main food source?

    @rm842@rm842 Жыл бұрын
    • I think this is due to physical resistance, since they practice it a lot, their body's are used to so mutch movements that fast

    • I used to do fencing, you know sward fighting, eventually, your muscles and tendons kinda turn into springs. At the moment you are having to shove your leg back up with muscle power each time. As you get better at it your muscle will tension before your foot hits the ground and it will BOUNCE back up and you only have to add 5% energy to complete the motion.

    • No laughing happening. When I 1st saw this dance I watched many Instagram shorts and I tried it myself. That’s an insane dance and I’d need to practice day in and day out for MANY years to even come close to these guys. It’s so mesmerizing. Their core strength is magnificent to keep their body low and still like that while they’re bouncing their legs and gliding across the ground

      @AnitaDil@AnitaDil7 ай бұрын
    • @@AnitaDil What facts do you mean? I looked it up and it's even said in some videos! Wiki: Zaouli is a traditional dance of the Guro people (who speak the Guro language) of central Ivory Coast. The Zaouli mask, used in the dance, was created in the 1950s, reportedly inspired by a girl named "Djela Lou Zaouli" (meaning "Zaouli, daughter of Djela").[1] However, stories on the origins of the characteristic mask are varied, and each mask may have its own symbolic history.[2] It was inscribed in 2017 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.[3]
