Lovely stories as always. Painful whimsy might not have a place in black library but i appreciate it. And now the rusty butterknife shallow stab knit pickery. What happend to the now discarded dredgnought? No murder bot sympathizers here? New chapter master but a now discarded 4 ton toddler covered in weapeonry and wholey empty of tantrum. With the spears world brutalized they really wont have a sump of gene seed hosts on hand. Guard receive regular enforcements and i imagine theres enough veteran guard that would seem exceptable especially to a new refounded chapter. Maybe its too obvious and formulaic but it seemed as though u were going to have some sort of interconnected relationship between them. The hardest coffin nails from the guard inducted into spears and for instance the general intered into the dredgnought as his body fails. Theres a "what dreams may come" symmetry and cycle of renewal there. Though to be fail that might have gone far into spielberg levels of manly tears. Chapter master later standing with a dredgnought remarking on the beauty could be noxious.
Well done Balder's a excellent vid as always
"Your presence is missed." So we're crying tonight then?
That one is right up there with the Land raider story
@@leighhutton8657 what video is that one in?

Yes. Yes we are.
I'm not an individual overly given to emotion but that was your FINEST STORY EVER. Bravo Good Storyteller.
Thanks brother Blair. As always. :)
That ending of story really hit me hard.......................... Iam not ashamed to admit that it put tears in my eyes . Excellent storytelling Baldemort !
Well said, Brother Blair, Well said.
Agreed! I had a lump in my throat at the end
Agreed
Imagine being a Dreadnought, supposedly the last of your chapter, reigned to loss over you fallen brothers. Then one day, you’re woken to be told that Big Blue himself requested your presence, and then to be told by Big Blue that not only was your old Chapter being re-established at the request of your old friend, but you would lead them as Chapter Master. And then being removed from your walking tomb to walk again as an Astartes, stronger than you were before you fell. While the General was grateful, I wonder what must have been going through the Blood Spear’s mind when he saw him again at their refuge.
Gosh I’d love for it to continue with this
That would be a WONDERFUL continuation. And that is exactly what I would expect from Lord Robute Guillimann if he heard the full story
I love the fact that firstborn marines can be made into primaris at all, even at risk. A centuries year old super soldier with hundreds if not thousands of battles fought, combined with the additional strength of the primaris... Now that's a threat
@@jaysquatchgaming739 Especially in the Imperium Nihilus, where legends like Mephiston have crossed the Rubicon Primaris. The Blood Angels are back to near- full strength, the Sanguinor is appearing more frequently, the Hive Fleet Leviathan is gone and Dante is filled with a renewed sense of duty.
From what I know, simply put "I've missed you old friend."
Give Baldermort a job at the black library this stuff is golden
I know in my heart they would bring down the quality of his work.
@@SirJustinTheLion The sad part is this is true all the politics and shoe honing of the narrative that come from working with bosses. But it would still be a interesting opportunity never the less.

Came for space marine chapter founding stayed for the story of friendship between a star gazing angel and a man who tried his very best to save a friend
The emperor protects!
This made me unprecedently sad. I had to stop and listen on this one.
Some say the unending horror, the mind crushingly large scale, and the constant barrage is what makes 40k grimdaek. To that I say nay. The true grimness. The heart of darkness are moments like these. To see a man, general brave and proud and commanding. A man of countless battles that needed to be fought ad won in the most brutal fashion... ...mourning his friend. An Angel who had always been there as a steadfast light in the dark and now snuffed out.
2 characters in a platonic relationship, one that is cannonicly asexual? SHIP EM
Followers of Tzeetch do not cry... my eyes are merely changing into salt water. *sniff It really stings.
"Your presence is sorely missed"...Damn these onion cutting ninjas
Right. They came by my house. As well.
Right in the feels
Think they were here to
Man, they seem to be getting everywhere it seems, these damn ninjas.
That shit got me too.
I know I’m late but “you fought like a tiger over the years kept the fires burning but it’s time to order your forces to withdraw and stand down we have this I’m sorry it took so long old friend” you made me cry Baldermort so I will promise you not to be late again.
Yeah this thing makes me want to cry it's a very touching story
Orks never lose!
A bond of friendship, no brotherhood, between a "mere" mortal and angel of war. I swear hear the space wolves cheering to it all the way from terra.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
You’re not wrong, but yer also a bloody liar.
..... Yes it seams that I am and your a cold bastard if yer not either
Yes
That story at the beginning was a thing of absolute beauty.
*bows*. Thank you.
@@baldermort (makes sign of the Aquilla)
I was going to comment the same thing, but since you said it beautifully I'll just agree!!
I guess the real 40k were the friends we made along the way
The ending was breath taking.
My loyalist army is literally based around a chapter that, upon seeing the true magnitude of threats facing the Imperium, decided that the best usage for their time would be to produce as many marines as possible as quickly as possible. They get around the legion building laws by making these new batches of marines into new chapters even if in name only. They recognize, as this video points out, that there are simply far to grave and numerous threats for one chapter to make a serious difference and decide to take page out of Kreig's bloodstained book.
The unforgiven approve
Sounds like something an Astral Claw would say... just kidding, awesome concept. ;D
I’m too poor in both currency and painting ability to get into the tabletop but I’ve had a Chapter rattling around in my head sort of similar in concept. They are Ultramarines descendants formed around Whiteshields stripped from their Chapter for semi-good reasons and sworn to serve an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor as a penance. While bopping around with him they fought alongside a bunch of other Chapters including the Black Templars and White Scars not to mention the Guard. Eventually they were rewarded by getting control of a new Chapter that was set to be founded. Placed way out in the ass end of Segmentum Pacificus they are basically on their own. Given that excuse they structured with three over large Great Companies like the Wolves numbering 300, a garrison company of 100 and a patrol/QRF company of 100. And a ton of drivers and pilots. They are kin to the Aurora Chapter and as such are massive tread heads, preferring mechanized or air cavalry roles. Instead of melee and honor duels they love guns. Like a lot. Bayonet drills are pushed more than swordsmanship (every Marine a rifleman after all) so they are more like Marine sized Guardsmen. Especially when they bring their Auxillia buddy’s with them since I can’t find any rulen (in lore at least) that says they can’t. Sometimes they even like to run around with Marine sized lasguns or heavy stunners from time to time. In reality a 14.5mm heavy machine gun round in current tech is stupid powerful and with 40k tech really efficient compared to bolter rounds. Efficiency is key when you live next to ork territory. But their Codex-worshipping cousins don’t like them and refused to share any of the really good stuff. So no terminators, dreadnaughts or the coolest Land Raider mods. Bummer but they found a couple wrecked Baneblades and fixed them up so who needs them!
Black Templars: "Just declare an eternal Crusade. The Codex size constraints are suspended during a Crusade." Space Wolves: "Or just ignore the Codex. It worked out fine for us." Ultramarines: "Or just comply. The Codex was designed with a clear purpose that we are meant to abide." Dark Angels: "Yes, compliance. We do that. It works quite well."

Holy Man Emperor of Mankind, this story was breathtaking. I am going to build a Primaris Killteam of the Blood Spears. In your honor, Bladermort.
You had better do so and then post a link, or better yet send an image to Baldermort so that he may show it to all of us. If you don't I'll have to talk to a certain commissar...
What color scheme? I’m so down for this idea, and I’ve got 5 assault intercessors waiting to be painted on my table right now.
@@thomasshuck3923 I picture red trim on gold with the chapter crest being a spear with the Blood Drop of the Blood Angels where the blade would be and a small set of feathered wings beneath the blade, a scarlet ribbon winding around the length of the shaft.
can...can we get this as a animated mini-movie? this story got me a little teary
I almost feel as though to animate it would diminish the power of the story and oration.
@@EpicMogi so, the real question is. Baldermort audiobook when?
I feel that a minimalist approach to an animation would fit. It may be an oddity, but a WH40K short without any actual fighting, showcasing the moments and minutiae of those precious few moments between all the grinding and carving out our place?
oooh a audiobook would definitely be good
A humble animator has seen your plea
I choose to believe that the founding request will become a relic of the chapter enshrined in the fortress monastery, both to honor the man that requested their re-founding, and also to remind the future Astartes for who they fight for, and what that mean for the countless souls of the imperium. I also want to believe that the General pushed, and obtained, that a regiment of elite Karskins instructors to be transferred in the sector, so to drastically increase the training and efficiency of the sector's Astra Militarum and provide quick and effective support to the newfound chapter.
Now that is a wonderful add on vision. :)
The view port glass too. That's what brought them together
As a combat veteran I listened to this and it is beautiful. Thank you. You have captured the essence of the love, fellowship and brotherhood among soldiers during wars. I took me back to the few good memories I have of the days of hardship, fear and death that surround us on the battlefield. You truly have a gift.
12 minutes in and Baldy already has me tearing up, magnificent.
It’s just dusty in here, that’s all.
Yeah Ork spores and dust! This isn't sad at all!
How the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, create new chapters? Well when a Astartes Chapter and the High Lords of Terra love one another very much....
And when they don't, well... Ask the Lamenters.
Im quite sure praise to the Emperor and copious amounts of alcohol 🍺 help in this endeavor.
😂👏
Genuinely laughed very hard lmfao
Goddamnit...the tears are welling up... That would have even made Ferrus Manus sniffle. Bravo Balders! Wonderful stuff.
Baldermort is an amazing storyteller. I don't play Warhammer 40k but I find myself repeatedly drawn to his KZhead channel just because of the fiction, his lore summaries, and the wholesome attitude he brings to this hobby.
Exactly

Out of all your story's, this is the most beautiful brother.
Wow, thank you
My God. That was utter joy to listen to. I wept. "We are returned." Wonderful Baldermort, just wonderful.
Insufficient words to describe the brilliance of this one. The Emperor protects. Guiliman rebuilds.
The Emperor protects. Guilliman renews. Dorn rebuilds. The Lion criticises. Vulkan distracts before Guilliman punches the Lion. The Wolf drinks. The Khan says something mysterious and goes hunting. The Raven pauses beating up Lorgar long enough to say "hey", then goes back to what he was doing.
"I'm not crying! I got something in my eyes..." XD
Its just really dusty in here.
The founding of a chapter is a very important aspect of the Space Marines, a new brotherhood, a new band of warriors, and a new set of Angels that willingly defend the imperium.
Remember them well, for we shall never see their like again.
You don't understand what this did to me. Recently two of my best friends died. It's been... Hard. I have days where i think I'm fine then other days where i can't keep myself together. Im man enough to admit to crying in the first few minutes, during the celebration. Just because... that's how I feel. Things that i should enjoy just don't mean the same things to me anymore because I remember my buddies. "Your presence is missed." When i heard that i had to pull over and sob. I'm getting that tattooed somewhere. I had always wanted to get something to remember my friends, but could never figure out what without it seeming forced or not in proper memory. This seems right. I know they will understand. I don't know you from a can of paint, but i don't know how to thank you for all you do. You say you are a humble messenger, but your stories mean so much to me and helped me cope with all of this. Thanks, Baldi. I wish I could shake your hand.
I am so sorry for your loss brother. I can only hope it gets a little easier every day. Do take the very best of care brother.
I cried when the Space Marine made it back to his friend. This is the level of story you bring, Brother. Thank you so much for your effort! Hope there's more to the Blood Spears and that this particular story becomes a recurrent one!
Alternate title "How all of our homebrews are allowed to exist in our headcanons" haha. Can't wait to get into an hour of good solid lore that I needed to brush up on anyway.
Ah, yes the most difficult and deadly endeavor in warfare. Logistics.
[screams in the mere esoteric terror of the shear scope of it]
Armies live and die by paperwork and supply lines.
Truly. Hilariously sadly true.
I am exactly 25 mins in. I have not Cried like this since the loss of my first childhood pet. A horse named Sleeper, named so for the naps he would take under an old apple tree after getting drunk on rotten apples. You have more than moved me with your words this day Brother Baldermort. Edit: HAPPY TEARS NOW!
We need this kind of writing in warhammer. This was absolutely amazing I nearly cried multiple times and I'm not an emotional guy but the story of just town old soldier finding a connection through momentary peace from the front to reflect on everything they fight for is just amazing brotherhood
When a mummy chapter and a daddy chapter love eachother very much......
"mummy chapter" I think that's called the Thousand Sons...
The smallest tragedies are most of the time the saddest Rest In Peace Blood Spear
Yes, very much so ! RIP sons of sanguinius
May they rest eternal, knowing their banner still flies. Seriously, though. What Son of the Angel wouldn't weep ecstatically at the power and drama of this tale? When all was thought lost, a Man held the line. His impassioned cry calls a Brother back to life - and resurrects an entire Chapter with him.
I can’t even put into words how profoundly touched I feel when I hear your stories of this universe in 40k. It makes this feel utterly real to such a degree that I just get caught up in it. Not one second is ever a waste ever. Thank you so much for all you share. It’s truly a gift.
This is far and away my favourite WH40K story. Don't know how many times i thought about it today in work. But anyway, i'm back here, standing at the window, looking out upon the nebula. I'm going to listen to it again, then i'm going to make some time for fun.
Did not expect to feel such genuine humanity in 40k. Then again you have blown our minds time and time again.
Man...that intro story. I'm not crying! Your crying!
Didn't think this would hit me in the feels this guy needs to be given some kind of writing or poetry award
Feel like I need to watch a Kreig massacre to level out my emotions. What a story, what a saga. Pure, crafted excellence. Thank you Baldy. Thank you to reminding us of the gifts of friendship, helping us through the darkest times
Belatedly. Are the Kreig doing the massacring or getting massacred via fixed bayonet charge to deliver explosives deep enough into the enemy line that they punch a hole through for others to continue the charge?
@@singletona082 its almost always the suicidal latter
I came here for the lore, not to get sucker punched in the feels by that intro story! Loving your work baldy
Or; "How the Dark Angels expand their line without telling anyone before it's a done deal" 😉
Wait, he was removed from his Dreadnaught shell and reforged into a primaris marine? I think Bjorn could live again as a non-Dreadnaught!
He was only interred for maybe a century or more, Bjorn on the other hand has been for over 10k years. Would his mind even be capable of existing outside his sarcophagus? However just the idea of rebuilding a fallen warrior in such a way is definitely a game changer
If anyone could then a space wolf could
I love this idea
That would be so fucking badass
When the Russ returns for the Wolftime, I believe Bjorn would want to gaze upon his primarch with his own eyes.
You know it’s always great to see A more human side to Astartes. To see they have feelings, hell just doing something that is not killing or training. Great job as always Baldermort.
We need more stories like this. Simple, and heartwarming. As it makes the setting have more flavor and makes the losses more gut punching. Thank you
You see, I like the contrast. It makes the horrid so much more grimdark. :)
It is after all a universe and many stories happen but we and gw tend to focus on a select few "subjects" so a new perspective is always welcome to break the monotony
Couldn’t agree more. The encompassing Dark is only as bad when seen next to a bright Light to reveal it’s contrast.
The intro was one of the most emotional 2 minutes from Baldermort.
only to be outmatched by the outro
You’ve encapsulated the reason why I both love and fear for the Lamenters. Theirs, like so many, is a fleeting existence always on the brink of total annihilation. Walking the razor’s edge of legendary legacy and obliterating obscurity. The reality of Space Marines is to fight unending till all that made it be lost... saved only for the record, memories, and tears of all those their actions have touched. To the countless chapter banners that hang before His Eternity Gate, some so old that the letterings and heraldry are now unrecognizable. Remember the fallen, for we shall never see their like again. A pleasure and blessings be upon you, brother Baldermort. I believe yours is well worth the remembrancing. Your faithful viewer.
What an amazing tale of genuine friendship in the 40k universe.
"How to make your own Astartes chapter 101."
Thank you Baldermort, simply thank you. You have no idea the memories and feeling that story creates for a veteran. You are a good man and we appreciate you more than you know. A man remembered never dies!
Thank you for your service. A lot.
Could hardly be better said , sanman. Baldermort connects to the hearts and minds of noble warriors like almost no other narrator. Military Veterans could not hope for a better poetic bard to share their world with the larger society. Legendary skill in Baldermort.
Well said.
Damn ninja's cutting onions around here. Wonderful sir, bravo. When I finish my Ultramarines 2nd Company project, I'll array them in place for a glorious march.
Only you could make us cry happy tears for Warhammer what an absolutely legendary story you told us and such an informative video all the same you are an absolute legend
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and from the heart of my bottom for this amazing content.
Beautifully said sir
Games workshop should hire you to help craft the overall story for 40k going forward. Pure magnificent writing. I would read an entire novel of your making
This... This is what makes the galaxy grim, the setting dark. So many wars. Unending horror, always the fear of annihilation? No. All that is too big for a mind to care over. But to have a long hard life? To claw and grind through because you must? Only to have your friend, the one person who had kept you centered, taken away from you? That. People understand. None of the other lights in the universe matter when that one has been snuffed out. Edit: That ending... The history written by one man to memorialize his friend. By the grace of the Emperor it slowly, impossibly, found its way to where it was needed when it was needed. And so that light, flickering and fitful it may seem, still holds back the dark. All because of am unlikely friendship. Edir2: on reflection, all that effort put in. Favors owed and called in. Threats and deed? All of those hours to muster with all haste were not in vain. Had the general been slower, there would have been no survivors, and the blood spears would have survived in name alone.
Well said brother. Well said. ;)
As I stand at my station, enraptured by the tale you have spun, I did shed a tear for the grief that was felt across the stars. Dear Lore Master, this treasure, is one of your finest. Thank you.

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. First the story and now the comments are filled with feels? This video should have come with a warning. From all of us who understand how lucky we are to live in what we see as a safe society, thank you to you and yours for keeping the wolves away.
