    • Lovely stories as always. Painful whimsy might not have a place in black library but i appreciate it. And now the rusty butterknife shallow stab knit pickery. What happend to the now discarded dredgnought? No murder bot sympathizers here? New chapter master but a now discarded 4 ton toddler covered in weapeonry and wholey empty of tantrum. With the spears world brutalized they really wont have a sump of gene seed hosts on hand. Guard receive regular enforcements and i imagine theres enough veteran guard that would seem exceptable especially to a new refounded chapter. Maybe its too obvious and formulaic but it seemed as though u were going to have some sort of interconnected relationship between them. The hardest coffin nails from the guard inducted into spears and for instance the general intered into the dredgnought as his body fails. Theres a "what dreams may come" symmetry and cycle of renewal there. Though to be fail that might have gone far into spielberg levels of manly tears. Chapter master later standing with a dredgnought remarking on the beauty could be noxious.

  • Imagine being a Dreadnought, supposedly the last of your chapter, reigned to loss over you fallen brothers. Then one day, you’re woken to be told that Big Blue himself requested your presence, and then to be told by Big Blue that not only was your old Chapter being re-established at the request of your old friend, but you would lead them as Chapter Master. And then being removed from your walking tomb to walk again as an Astartes, stronger than you were before you fell. While the General was grateful, I wonder what must have been going through the Blood Spear’s mind when he saw him again at their refuge.

The heart of darkness are moments like these. To see a man, general brave and proud and commanding. A man of countless battles that needed to be fought ad won in the most brutal fashion... ...mourning his friend. • My loyalist army is literally based around a chapter that, upon seeing the true magnitude of threats facing the Imperium, decided that the best usage for their time would be to produce as many marines as possible as quickly as possible. They get around the legion building laws by making these new batches of marines into new chapters even if in name only. They recognize, as this video points out, that there are simply far to grave and numerous threats for one chapter to make a serious difference and decide to take page out of Kreig's bloodstained book.

    • I’m too poor in both currency and painting ability to get into the tabletop but I’ve had a Chapter rattling around in my head sort of similar in concept. They are Ultramarines descendants formed around Whiteshields stripped from their Chapter for semi-good reasons and sworn to serve an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor as a penance. While bopping around with him they fought alongside a bunch of other Chapters including the Black Templars and White Scars not to mention the Guard. Eventually they were rewarded by getting control of a new Chapter that was set to be founded. Placed way out in the ass end of Segmentum Pacificus they are basically on their own. Given that excuse they structured with three over large Great Companies like the Wolves numbering 300, a garrison company of 100 and a patrol/QRF company of 100. And a ton of drivers and pilots. They are kin to the Aurora Chapter and as such are massive tread heads, preferring mechanized or air cavalry roles. Instead of melee and honor duels they love guns. Like a lot. Bayonet drills are pushed more than swordsmanship (every Marine a rifleman after all) so they are more like Marine sized Guardsmen. Especially when they bring their Auxillia buddy’s with them since I can’t find any rulen (in lore at least) that says they can’t. Sometimes they even like to run around with Marine sized lasguns or heavy stunners from time to time. In reality a 14.5mm heavy machine gun round in current tech is stupid powerful and with 40k tech really efficient compared to bolter rounds. Efficiency is key when you live next to ork territory. But their Codex-worshipping cousins don’t like them and refused to share any of the really good stuff. So no terminators, dreadnaughts or the coolest Land Raider mods. Bummer but they found a couple wrecked Baneblades and fixed them up so who needs them!

      @80krauser@80krauser2 жыл бұрын
    • Black Templars: "Just declare an eternal Crusade. The Codex size constraints are suspended during a Crusade." Space Wolves: "Or just ignore the Codex. It worked out fine for us." Ultramarines: "Or just comply. The Codex was designed with a clear purpose that we are meant to abide." Dark Angels: "Yes, compliance. We do that. It works quite well."

I also want to believe that the General pushed, and obtained, that a regiment of elite Karskins instructors to be transferred in the sector, so to drastically increase the training and efficiency of the sector's Astra Militarum and provide quick and effective support to the newfound chapter.

  • You’ve encapsulated the reason why I both love and fear for the Lamenters. Theirs, like so many, is a fleeting existence always on the brink of total annihilation. Walking the razor’s edge of legendary legacy and obliterating obscurity. The reality of Space Marines is to fight unending till all that made it be lost... saved only for the record, memories, and tears of all those their actions have touched. To the countless chapter banners that hang before His Eternity Gate, some so old that the letterings and heraldry are now unrecognizable. Remember the fallen, for we shall never see their like again. A pleasure and blessings be upon you, brother Baldermort. I believe yours is well worth the remembrancing. Your faithful viewer.

  • This... This is what makes the galaxy grim,the setting dark. So many wars. Unending horror,always the fear of annihilation? No. All that is too big for a mind to care over. But to have a long hard life? To claw and grind through because you must? Only to have your friend, the one person who had kept you centered, taken away from you? That. People understand. None of the other lights in the universe matter when that one has been snuffed out. Edit: That ending... The history written by one man to memorialize his friend. By the grace of the Emperor it slowly, impossibly, found its way to where it was needed when it was needed. And so that light, flickering and fitful it may seem, still holds back the dark. All because of am unlikely friendship. Edir2: on reflection, all that effort put in. Favors owed and called in. Threats and deed? All of those hours to muster with all haste were not in vain. Had the general been slower, there would have been no survivors, and the blood spears would have survived in name alone.
