Figs are a treat, My grandmother use to grow them in her garden near the tomatoes and I'd look forward to them almost as much as the dishes she prepared.
That sounds like such a lovely memory 😍 I love using fresh ingredients in my recipes, it makes all the difference. Do you have any favorite fig recipes?
I had no clue green figs were ripe. The ones here are a purple hue.😅
Hey there! Actually, there are different varieties of figs and they can come in different colors depending on the ripeness and species. Hope this helps! 🤗
Sounds about right
I just got my first fig and I don't. Think i can do it.
❤❤❤
Those figs look fantastic ❤
The figs are indeed fantastic! 🤩 If you love figs, you're going to enjoy the recipe even more. Let me know if you give it a try! 🍽️👨🍳
i love figs when i was in italy i ate so many wonderful !
I'm going to attempt to pick a fig from my tree and try it. I think I have convinced myself that I hated figs for 30 years, and we shall test that theory out today! 😂 I'm going to feel dumb if I enjoy them.
Update?
That’s okay. I also thought I disliked figs. (Hate the dried ones.) But this summer I tried eating directly from a tree and fell in love. The tree I eat from has figs that taste a bit like strawberry jam.
Update NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vince makes my top 10 list of awesome human beings I'd love to meet before I kick the bucket. Good man 👍 Passionate about food. God Bless Vince.
We got a Black Madeira fig tree last year and it's flourishing!! I can't wait to try them!!
That's great to hear! Black Madeira figs are known for their delicious flavor and texture, so I'm sure you'll enjoy them. Let me know how they taste when you try them!
Man we been missing out, here in America, I've been missing out, have never had a freshfigs, but, I plan to.looks very delicious.
They really do well in California with the fig wasp. The Southwest is good too. They like Mediterranean climates. You can grow them anywhere with pots. They:do have varieties in Chicago. Thomas Jefferson planted them in Monticello
Rayman made me like figs lol
Best figs are those black ones from Greece.
Good to know, thanks!
@@vincenzosplate all the Best Vincenzo 👍
Wow... These fresh figs look delicious😋😋😋 Here in India you can only get dried figs, I have absolutely no idea how fresh figs actually taste like.
Thanks for your comment! You should definitely try fresh figs if you ever have the chance - they're absolutely delicious 😋👌
Dried figs are super sweet but fresh ones are very mellow when it comes to sweetness
You can find fresh figs in Kashmir.
That ummm was so satisfing 😅
What is the name or variety of that yummy, juicy fig?❤
❤❤❤
nearby my grandma's house there are a lot of trees: figs, olives, grapes, almonds and pomegranates!
This is SO INTERESTING! Once i plucked off 5 figs from a backyard tree in Liguria it taste sweet n juicy however in purplish colour. Looking forward to find and try the green ones next time! Thanks for sharing this with us🙏
That's fascinating! 🤩🍃 It's wonderful to hear about your fig-picking adventure in Liguria. The green ones have a unique flavor, so I'm sure you'll enjoy them. If you get the chance to try them, please share your experience with us. Happy cooking and exploring! 👨🍳🇮🇹
I love ur accent
Thank you, glad you like my accent 😉 How are your cooking skills going? 🍴👨🍳
@@vincenzosplate still learning but improving😁
Fig incredible
Wow really good. Greek figs look a bit better more red purple inside and juicier but still these look great
Thank you! 🙌🍽️ While Greek figs have their unique qualities, I'm glad you enjoyed these ones. Appreciate your feedback and support. Keep enjoying the flavors! 😊🇮🇹
People in many places in the Philippines thought that figs are poisonous, so kids in the 90s only used figs as a wheel for their selfmade wooden toy cars.
When we lived in nyc, my dad had a small fig tree in the front yard. Every winter it was covered. Then we moved.
What a wonderful memory! Figs are truly special. Thanks for sharing your story. 🌿🍃
@@vincenzosplate thank you. I have a lot of great memories of my family. Our family is close.
You should have taken cuttings with you.
@@Fluvienne thanks. I was a teen. That was not an option to my dad because we moved into an apartment first for a bit before we could move into home. My dad got a tree that had pink blossom before leaves.
Yummm i just ate 2 and i want more
if any white sap comes out when picking, it needed more time to ripen
Thanks for the tip! It's helpful to know that white sap indicates the need for more ripening. 🍅👍
Forget the fig the plate is beautiful 😍
Aesthetic appreciation is important too! 😍🍽️ We strive for both beauty and flavor. Enjoy! 🇮🇹🍝👨🍳😄
Beautiful fresh figs but even better dried figs
Thanks for your input! I prefer fresh figs, but each to their own 😉👍
how does it taste? we don't have that here in Philippines 😊
It's a delightful blend of flavors-rich from the olives and vibrant from the seasonings. If you can't find it, consider making a similar mix with local ingredients. Enjoy the process and create your own unique seasoning magic! 🌿🍽️😊
Is it just me or did vincenzo become more handsome than before xd
Haha, thank you for the compliment! I guess cooking Italian food has its perks. 😄 Have you tried any of my recipes yet? Let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to see on the channel. 🍝🔪
@@vincenzosplate Yes of course! I have tried cooking carbonara, cherry tomato pasta, lemon pasta, kale pasta, tomato ricotta elicoidali etc. All following your recipes. Tomato ricotta and carbonara are probably my favourite of all these and i love eating them everyday😋
What does it taste like? Sour? Sweet?
Fresh figs taste sweet and honey-like, with a slightly tart aftertaste. They have a soft, juicy texture and a mild, floral aroma. The flavor of fresh figs can vary depending on the variety, but they are generally considered to be a sweet fruit.
What do figs taste like? I've never seen them here.
I had a lot of these trees in my yard (actually it was considered a wild tree so I've seen it literally everywhere) and nobody ever tried to eat it. It's the first time I'm seeing someone eat it (my brain was like wait it's actually edible) not to mention I thought figs don't grow in my country when it was actually flourishing in my yard all this time🗿🗿🗿
I was here because someone gave me an odd fruit when I came to his house and I didn't know what it was because I haven't seen it in my life . I picked up my phone and snap it with Google lens and it showed me what it was . I was like "Oh this is the fig,I use to hear since my life 😅😅". I have been hearing about fig but haven't seen or eaten one until then day . And it's amazing very sweet fruit, I have now added it to the collection of fruits I have eaten in my lifetime 🎉😊
I love figs
From an asian guy that looks scarier than bugs fried
😂😂😂
❤️❤️❤️figs
I suck the flesh out of the skin. I toss the skin because it’s often sticky with ants all over when I take it from the tree. They often get eaten on the spot so no time to fuss with cleaning up the skin.
Keep enjoying this delicious fruit😁😋
Vince, my brother from another mother . I have 2 huge fig trees . Most fall off the tree and are wasted . I still have 8 pounds in my freezer from last year . Help !
We liked with skin we have many type in Oman we dunk in olive oil
Does it taste good?
It tastes amazing!!
Are they sweet?
When they're sweet they're are perfect! 😋
my fig tree died, im sad😭
I'm sorry to hear about your fig tree. Losing a beloved plant can be tough. Remember that nature has its cycles, and while it's sad to see something go, it also leaves room for new beginnings. If you're up for it, perhaps consider planting another fig tree or exploring other gardening projects that can bring joy. Take care and embrace the beauty of nature's ebb and flow. 🌱🌿🌳
Mangiare, mangiare.
Sì, sì! Mangiare è gioia! 🍽️🇮🇹 Continua a gustare i piatti italiani deliziosi! 😄👌
Dont figs have a bug in them?
Not all of them luckily 😂
I understand some wild ones are pollenated by a wasp, which is trapped inside and absorbed by the fig. But the cultivated figs aren't that type of fig, thankfully.
Are some purple?
Yes!
@@vincenzosplate I tried one yesterday...... Didn't like it. Weird texture not very flavorful or sweet. Maybe I didn't get a good one. Who knows.
@@vincenzosplate il mangio la mela! I've been using Duolingo! Gimmie a year And I'll be back with more!!!
Sorry 😔 because I don't love figs
No worries! Everyone has their preferences. 😊 Feel free to explore my other recipes that don't include figs. I'm sure you'll find something you love. Happy cooking! 👨🍳🍽️
@@vincenzosplate mille grazie, i just love pizza with pineapple 😋 (Just kidding)
I absolutely love Vince. He dah man ! I love passionate Italian people. Hell, I WISH I was Italian. Anyway, whenever I'm feeling blue, and in a downer mood, all I need to do is cue up Vince, Chef John from food wishes, Gordon Ramsey, as well as that old Italian man with the messed up eye. Yes, I know, some of these folks aren't Italian. But, they are passionate about food. 1 more person I would mention is the woman who is probably no longer with us because she lived through the depression, but Claire is a SWEETHEART of a human being. Her cooking her on utube is ALL about doing more with less . Surviving the depression days when things were BASIC. People struggled badly, but people were genuinely friendly, and content with their lives . I wouldn't wish those days upon NO ONE ! People today could not survive. We are WAYYYYY too spoiled, self centered, entitled. Bottom line, truly appreciate what you have today. Things in this world can change for the bad very quickly. Be nice to elderly people. Go out of your way to talk to them. A few moments from your time may mean a lot to a lonely elderly person. They are a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. We can learn a lot from these wonderful people. Look, I had no intention of writing these words. It ALL started when Vince cued up on my Dumb phone.lol I watched a few moments of Vince, and started really thinking of just how many wonderful people I will never ever get to know on a personal level. It's sad, but at least we have social media. Anyway, gotsta go.....God bless Vince, his family, and all the people who are like him. GENUINE.
