Logbait is one of the if not the most iconic archetype in Clash Royale. It's had several variations and adaptations over the years, so this video covers the archetype's ups and downs and how it's evolved over the years up until May 2023.

I honestly hate the 2016 days because I could never finish high ladder nor I had high level cards. I'd rather not remember it and improve my gameplay to reach 3k medals. Ian77 is my idol.

I would’ve loved a mention to Fire Spirits’ range reduction still letting us fully counter a Goblin Barrel after the nerf with the help of a small troop pushing the spirit’s hitbox in some way.

@@cl0p38 Logging the princess is not effective at higher level because you will always take a shot. Instead use your cycle cards in the middle to block the princess.

I’ve always admired cards that are so crucial to most metas that they get *entire archetypes* named after them. Yeah it can be annoying to fight Log and Logbait a lot,but their very existence has always been cool to me.

Now that we've seen hog 2.6 and log bait covered, i would really love to see you make a video about splashyard/graveyard archetypes because it really never went away too since becoming meta
it was a time in 2017 after its first nerf when graveyard dropped a lot in win rate and received that rework to make it strong again

I usually don't watch clash royale content, I only play it sonetimes on my phone but its so interesting to see the reworks to certain cards and changes to the meta. Love the videos you make, keep up the grind 💪

Nobody uses x-bow, it's an incredibly weak archetype only played by excellent players.

Trying to remove Log Bait is like trying to remove Beatdown from the meta. It's anchored itself into the fundamentals of the game and will reface itself with the going gets tough.
One of the things I enjoy the most about this channel is how he tells the story of a card or deck chronologically from its introduction to today. I like to follow along with what I was doing personally at the time, as I was around since a little after global launch and I remember what’s generally considered to be the golden age of clash (2016-2018) very well as I was in high school at the time.

@@muffinman3052 i don’t think so sparky has not received a single balance change in over 2 years. Its amazing that sparky is still here spite supercell adding more counters to the card so it comes out as an interesting video

Thank you so much, I was waiting for this to be uploaded! The Log was my first and favourite Legendary card when they generally were cool and I want to go back to the days where it was under appreciated and needed some love. It was always a problem and a solution to the problem at the exact same time ever since the Zap couldn’t wipe out goblins. Personally, I just feel like if smaller spells competed just like the Log, it would balance the use rates, even though the all other spells like the rocket need to be brought down like you said.

At 17:45, the reason for this change was masteries. Guards and E-spirit had 10 levels of mastery, while Goblin Gang and I-spirit had 7 levels of mastery.

As long as spells continue being overpowered, bait will be somewhat viable, not only logbait, but fire ball bait too, spells are the crutches of a lot of decks and when you manage to take them away the decks will fall apart very fast, 2.6 is only viable because you can spell cycle + using the log to make the hog rider hit extra hits against good defenses, spells and buildings made this game a lot harder to balance
2.6 is even less viable than classic logbait which itself is dead as rocket is currently worse than clone. It's only used in lower arenas because it is very easy to level up.
@@Rikka_V1 viable, not good, they may not be among the best, but it’s very possible to use them in ladder, look at these decks, they shouldn’t be working if not for their spells
@@marceloxaustivo784 Not viable, at least at higher levels. As a hog player myself I prefer either hog eq monk or hog eq queen gs. That being said 2.6 can get you around 2k medals if you aim that low.

@@Orangutanusyea I was about to say that, you could use evo skeletons, evo firecracker, evo knight, hell even evo mortar if you can count it as a logbait viable card like he mentioned in the video. But what he said is true, logbait has always found a way to anchor itself into the meta no matter what supercell did to it, that's what I find most interesting, I myself do use logbait, but none of the variants that were mentioned. I kind of changed it to my personal preferences which I think is great about logbait, it has more flexibility and variety than a lot of other archetypes which means that although the concept of logbait is the same, it can still feel somewhat fresh for the person using it and the person going against it since you can put so many cards in logbait. I've always loved that aspect of the archetype.
I would love if goblin barrel acted a little like royal delivery, wacking air troops as it passes, could really help with the lava hound matchup as well

@@Cacaseca6well for me personally I'm never really allowed to stack princesses. Maybe my cycle isn't fast enough, but most of the time it's because my opponents are carrying 2 small spells, log and arrows, for example, it's annoying but I've found my way around them. Honestly speaking though I know what you mean it can be annoying to go against logbait, I have some of this frustration as well when I go against other logbait decks, though for me it's rare since logbait inherently can also counter logbait, at least in my case.
@@Orangutanusyea that's true, no matter how I've changed my logbait deck I've always kept goblin barrel but honestly I'm thinking of swapping it out for goblin drill or skeleton barrel or something related to it. But I don't know if I can actually do it, I've always loved the goblin barrel.

I think one way they could nerf the log (maybe) is give it a limit of cards it can hit untill it gets destroyed. Like, say it can hit up to 10 troops that it one hits (smarmy, goblins, or low health cards that get one hit, etc) and 4-5 tank cards (knight, e-giant, giant, hogs, etc) and once it hits that number of troops, it gets destroyed, and say it hits 6 goblins from the goblin gang, but is not destroyed, it loses the amount of damage it can cause by how much it is harmed. So say it does 200 damage to a tower, after going through a goblin gang and a princess, it only does 50. This will be a good nerf as people will be spamming cards in front of their tower to lower how much damage the log can do on their tower, therefore wasting more elixar.

Supercell do explain the balances. But most of you are probably uneducated or something so you cant read the patch notes. They even say the cards that they want to balance in future. Do your research.
@@White742exactly I haven’t played CR in like 4 months and the community is still full of crybabies complaining about every card being “broken” or “op”. Like they expect supercell to nerf a card and there not be consequences.
I have never liked fighting against log bait, 2.6 hog or x bow, but i've always respected their legacy and history.

I’m surprised you didn’t talk about the executioner, which was added specifically to counter log bait. Tbf wasn’t really relevant as it fell of when it got nerfed.

he made a whole video on the history of exe already and you may be thinking of the rumham rework later, as exe was actually released a few weeks to a month prior to ram, dart gob, and gang... so the first of the group of 4 at the start of the year... and the first new card of 2017... exe also made quite a stand originally most notably in splashyard with nado and against hound decks. he also had some bugs that broke him good or bad, like attack interruption stun as well being able to hit behind him when his axe came back or loosing his axe across the edge of arena and then the screen...

I feel a 4th goblin being added to the goblin barrel would make sense considering the goblins card has 4 goblins. ‘Cause my understanding of goblin barrel was that you were paying 1 more elixir to be able to place goblins anywhere on the map. But, now that goblins have 4 goblins, it just doesn’t feel worth spending 3 elixir anymore especially since people don’t even need a light spell to counter goblin barrel when they can just play a bunch of troops around their tower and counter push while you’re essentially down 3 elixir.
when you play logbait you basically always want to go opposite lane for the counterpush reason, but this would be a really interesting change that would make the troop combo counters a little more skillful to use
A good idea for next video is double prince. Double prince has been a deck since late 2016 and has gone through multiple versions

Even at its lowest I have never let down logbait, I just like how like the deck, some fights I just have to adapt to the oponent and even if I loose, I still learn something from the match, its such an atemporal deck for me

Having played this game for so many years now and using pretty much every archetype available I just always revert back to log bait. It’s easy to pick up but it needs some practice to get good with it and it is super satisfying when you use it right
