Figo defines perfection at dribbling, always calm and paced. If you tackle him wrong, he's gone, if you wait too much, he's gone... hes always one step ahead. And judging by these videos, hes nowhere quick as C. ronaldo, R9, messi, young R10, zidane, kaka and many others that combine skills and speed, figo isnt slow, but he rellies on his skills most of the time. Fascinating!

It’s more that Figo influenced Ronaldo’s style of play because he was the more famous and well known player before Ronaldo. What a player!! I never knew Figo was this good! You dont often see this level skill in the game anymore. I miss Ronaldo phenomenon, ronaldiniho, Gazza, Giggs. Football seemed more exciting then! This fella though, would have loved to have watched him more when he was playing, I dont think we celebrate him enough, on this evidence.

This is nothing. The way he occupied spaces was really good... played well with both feet no one really knew what would happened. Ball always glued to the feet is something we don't see in our days. Players like, Figo, Zidane, Bergkamp, inesta, xavi or messi are disappearing. Football is more mechanical and less unpredictable.

The most ridiculous thing about Figo is that he only got injured a couple of times in his career and for very short periods. He was also an assist machine like Kevin De Bruyne is nowadays and it was really difficult to take the ball from him. He would either dribble, pass or suffer a foul but he would never ever lose the ball to the opposing team. One of his former teammates (De Boer?) said that when in trouble they would give the ball to Figo as he would come up with something to win the game and secure the victory.

That was a very hard shoot in 2004 for us, Portugueses. I still remeber like it was yesterday. But that's football, its all good. And tbh and fair, Greece did a good job on that championship, not the prettiest footbal but most efficient. And it was still very nice that the winner was not those typical strongest teams. Do you remember when at a young imaginative age, while playing football with friends, one would "play" as one of the famous players? My first pick was always Figo (unless I was in goal, then I was Kahn). He might not have scored the most goals, but he didn't need to. He showed his world class skills everywhere, in any situation, on the pitch. What an amazing player he was.

The thing with Figo is if he can't attack you from the right flank he'll switch and be as good on the left flank. His crossings were dangerous, if you leave him he will dribble and score. He's a constant threat to opposition with skills and quality. To me he is still The Most Complete Forward to date.

If we talk about consistency Figo is in top ten of those kind of players in the last 25 years. As Guardiola said 25 years ago, “here in Barcelona there is a player who is not a star or very famous, he doesn’t catch media or fans, and it is just because he always plays football very well, and that man is Figo”. With rain or sunshine, in spring or winter, in a friendly game or in a UCL final, in an training camp or in a full stadium….Luis Figo always wanted the ball and he never eluded compromise with his team. Cualquiera sufría con Figo, en su mejor momento era imparable, y como bien decía Johan Cruyff, a futbolistas de ese enorme nivel sólo puedes pararlos haciéndoles falta. El propio Roberto Carlos admitió que los dos únicos extremos derechos de esa época que eran un tormento para él eran Figo y Finidi (que era tb buenísimo, aunque no un futbolista de la magnitud del portugués).

Discrepo en qué Roberto fuera un defensor mediocre. Comparado con su brillantez en ataque parecía flojo, pero era tb un defensa soberbio. El único rival que le dio auténticos problemas fue Figo. The way the older generation football legends touch the ball is just different. Not sure what it is but definitely more skills and arts in it. Modern football seems to have become more about pace and physicality. Maybe something to do with how the game is played now. Must be able to both defend and counter on a very high rate. Not saying the skills are not important anymore.

Wow! From two days ago, you posted this. Luis Figo ... for me, as a child, there was Maradona. My family loved Diego. But as a kid growing up, there was Figo. He was, for me, the next Maradona. Not exactly the same, obviously. But he was the player I wanted to be growing up. I played as a winger my whole life, and this was the guy I received inspiration from. Thanks for making this video.

Figo defines perfection at dribbling, always calm and paced. If you tackle him wrong, he's gone, if you wait too much, he's gone... hes always one step ahead. And judging by these videos, hes nowhere quick as C. ronaldo, R9, messi, young R10, zidane, kaka and many others that combine skills and speed, figo isnt slow, but he rellies on his skills most of the time. Fascinating!

What a player!! I never knew Figo was this good! You dont often see this level skill in the game anymore. I miss Ronaldo phenomenon, ronaldiniho, Gazza, Giggs. Football seemed more exciting then! This fella though, would have loved to have watched him more when he was playing, I dont think we celebrate him enough, on this evidence.
This is nothing. The way he occupied spaces was really good... played well with both feet no one really knew what would happened. Ball always glued to the feet is something we don't see in our days. Players like, Figo, Zidane, Bergkamp, inesta, xavi or messi are disappearing. Football is more mechanical and less unpredictable.

The most ridiculous thing about Figo is that he only got injured a couple of times in his career and for very short periods. He was also an assist machine like Kevin De Bruyne is nowadays and it was really difficult to take the ball from him. He would either dribble, pass or suffer a foul but he would never ever lose the ball to the opposing team. One of his former teammates (De Boer?) said that when in trouble they would give the ball to Figo as he would come up with something to win the game and secure the victory.

That was a very hard shoot in 2004 for us, Portugueses. I still remeber like it was yesterday. But that's football, its all good. And tbh and fair, Greece did a good job on that championship, not the prettiest footbal but most efficient. And it was still very nice that the winner was not those typical strongest teams. My first pick was always Figo (unless I was in goal, then I was Kahn). He might not have scored the most goals, but he didn't need to. He showed his world class skills everywhere, in any situation, on the pitch. What an amazing player he was.

The thing with Figo is if he can't attack you from the right flank he'll switch and be as good on the left flank. His crossings were dangerous, if you leave him he will dribble and score. He's a constant threat to opposition with skills and quality. To me he is still The Most Complete Forward to date.

As Guardiola said 25 years ago, “here in Barcelona there is a player who is not a star or very famous, he doesn’t catch media or fans, and it is just because he always plays football very well, and that man is Figo”. The way the older generation football legends touch the ball is just different. Not sure what it is but definitely more skills and arts in it. Modern football seems to have become more about pace and physicality. Maybe something to do with how the game is played now. Must be able to both defend and counter on a very high rate. Not saying the skills are not important anymore.
