Очень добросовестный мастер, если бы десятая часть таких мастеров была на дорогах не было бы столько перекошенных авто, а по части нагревов и всего прочего... сколько дырья с отваливающимися частями кузова двигается и никто включая надзорные органы не работают должным образом. Много лет занимаюсь этой работой. Артур - очумелые ручки. СУПЕР!!!

His work is amazing but I would never buy such a car. In a case the steel is put in the same shape than before its nice but the mechanical parameters of the steel will never be the same and in case of accident those parts will be smashed like a paper swith minimum spreading of crush energy. Hope noone will be killed in this kind of cars!
@@legioner9 You're the dummy. It is likely HSS or UHSS and ABSOLUTELY NOT safely repairable with heat. He may as well remake the front frame rail with paper maiche. From a recent magazine article on the new Touraeg: "Another advantage of the Volkswagen Group structure: the Touareg body can now be made entirely of high-strength steels and aluminium (48 percent). " rts.i-car.com/collision-repair-news/repair-or-replace-material-tensile-strength-key-to-repairability.html www.autobodynews.com/index.php/t-chess/item/4161-heat-on-a-toyota-front-frame-rail-no-way.html It may look right, but the real measurements to be made are steel hardness, thickness in the repair area v. spec, penetrant dye test for tears and micro fractures. That is a critical area on a chassis. It is designed to crumple and dissipate impact energy to the passenger compartment. It won't do that job properly again with that repair. Mild Steel, you can straighten and heat it up to 1000 degrees F; HSS you straighten bends, replace kinks. Never heat, only cold straighten. Ultra High Strength Steel - Replace entire damaged member when damaged, and only use factory seams unless there is an OEM sectioning procedure. That leg is either HSS, UHSS or a variant lumped under AHSS (advanced High Strength Steel). They all get their strength from a very precise tempering and quenching process. That torch has taken all the strength out of the steel. To my eyes, those compressed - almost folds - in the chassis leg looked like kinks to me. Kinks are not safely repairable So, he's taken kinked, high strength steel, heated it and pulled it, and pounded out the kinks. It may look right, but you will never find an engineer at VW or Porsche or Audi who would call that work a safe repair. It looks right, the dimensions check out, but that leg cannot perform as intended in another frontal impact. Arthur is gifted and talented beyond belief, but this is technically not a safe repair. The proper fix is probably to replace the entire chassis leg where it is bonded to the passenger compartment.

HS, UHS and AHS steels achieve their incredible strength relative to weight through complex metallurgy, and patented manufacturing processes -including achieving precise temperatures, pressures and controlled quenching that you cannot reproduce by generally waving a torch in the vicinity. These metals are not as malleable and forgiving as mild steel. With mild steel, you can heat it and beat it and, provided you restore the shape and maintain the thickness, you are good to go. But these new variants are exotic materials designed to add lightness and maintain strength. What he's done looks good and may never be called upon to sacrifice itself for the safety of the occupants. So that's fine, but in another serious collision, It absolutely will not perform as intended. It is far weaker than original and the next serious impact will be absorbed further back and into the frame rail and passenger compartment. Until the 1970s or so, cars were too hard and impact energy was transferred into the passenger compartment- witness whiplash, neck fractures, steering column impalements. Now they design the extremities to be softer and yield during crashes, dissipating impact energy. This repair is now "softer" than designers intended and a serious impact will reach the passenger compartment where before it wouldn't. Clearly you did not read the source material I linked to. Nor did you consult the factory repair data for the vehicle. It will clearly identify the metal type by location on the chassis- along with what can be re-worked, what MUST be replaced, and the permissible locations where it can be re-sectioned. For this reason newer cars suck for the repair industry. They provide the same strength, with less mass, yielding better performance and fuel economy, but the price is they are not easily repaired back to original strength absent full replacement. This is literally life and death stuff, so if you don't know, please don't guess. It actually could get someone killed.

@@briancorrigan5350 Dead right. Arthur is a skilled repairer and these videos are great to watch but that chassis rail has been seriously weakened by the accident and the heating. We were forbidden to apply heat to chassis members when I was a mechanic many years ago.

долго машинами занимаю , но Артур точно "косячник" , все маляра рихтуют и варят шпатлёвкой а тут , молотком и полуавтоматом )))))) "КОСЯЧНИК" !!!!

Я так думаю лонжерон не закаленый, что бы он мог ослабнуть. А простому металу это не вредит.
+Arthur tussik Как по мне мощный очаг коррозии в месте прогрева гарантирован с высокой скоростью(как трухнут машины после пожара), хотя я могу и ошыбаться.Если ето ремонтируют перекупы тогда все понятно, ну а если владелец неужели так трудно у вас найти кусок лонжерона что бы не возиться с пожмаканым до немогу.

Arthur, your clearly skilled, but that is a completely unsafe repair, the chassis legs are UHSS ULTRA HIGH STRENGTH STEEL and should at no point ever have heat applied to them, as it affects the moleculer structure of the steel. You shoud have pulled, then removed the chassis leg from the bulkhead,and in the cab. Have you ever heard of Thatcham repair methods? this is what we use in the UK, also VW do not advise in their repair methods to repair in the way you have, do you have access to manufacturer methods? also the welders you are using are wrong....mig is one sided and lack the penetration of the new mag welders. looks great, but if it has an accident in the future it will crumple up like a plastic cup.
+sidewayssam One vehicle maker recommends welding on AHSS such as UHSS alloyed with boron using squeezetype resistance spot welds and GMA (MIG) welds.
There is cold migbrazing that vauxhall /opel use, but no heat should be applied to any UHSS.The instant you apply heat , you alter the molecular structure of the steel,,,the repair above is highly dangerous. NO manufacturer as far as i am aware would recommend as a repair int the aftermarket as you are not able to get the tip pressures required.

Практика хорошая, теория отсутствует. Очень жаль, можно сказать выкопал могилу хозяину машины или семье его. Такие места категорически запрещено греть автогеном. При следующем ударе сложится сразу или отвалится не приняв даже удар на себя. Сверхпрочная сталь очень боится температуру и теряет свои свойства.

I've been repairing cars for nearly 30 years and this is just plain dangerous. All structural integrity has gone from the front end. You do NOT apply heat to high strength steels!!
this guy has cut literally a bmw 7 (almost) in half, then welded the back side from another 7 series. Imagine that car running on the high way with 2 cars welded on the middle.... it seems that in that part of the world there are no laws regadding safety. p.s. he just deleted that video.
He's from Baltic states, in Europe, from Lithuania. Many cars from there come like that, some are even welded from 3 cars. So in my country, Latvia (we are neighbors), we need to be really careful not to buy car like that.

In another crash, it's safety features and crumple zones will obliterate thanks to your mechanical repairs. Optical is completely different from it's internal structure. Both vids prove that clearly.
Not a good quality repair. Never NEVER use heat. Will never correctly react with airbag next collision. It’s a butcher repair

Dangerous repair does the guy understand High strength Steel ? Very old repair methods and sadly he doesn't realise what he has just done to ruin the strength of the car ....
You are absolutely correct, Chris. I'm sure that rail is at least HSS, and maybe UHSS, which should never be heated during straightening. In addition, his straightening method (his pulling) literally created more damage in the rail than was originally there. He even points out the damage that he created. I can say this because I am a certified expert in both structural steel and aluminum, with over 40 years of experience.
