  • Seeing Conor at UFC 189 was special. Conor up until the Mayweather was honestly like nothing we’d ever seen before. Completely dominant, entertaining, humble post fight. It’s a shame to see what’s happening to him.

    • The Mystic Mac years were so fucking fun. But coke does weird shit to people. Look at Kanye. Although it was clear Conor had holes in his game. He would get fatigued pretty easily and had poor wrestling abilities. He never felt as solid as Jones or Cain.

      @shappooppi@shappooppi2 жыл бұрын
    • @@shappooppi 100% he had flaws, but the way he was matched up for his run was perfect. The Mendes fight was magical though because it was the first time we’d seen him in any trouble yet he fought through for the win. Conor’s issue was always that if he couldn’t get a finish within the first few rounds he’d be in trouble. However now I truly think his chin has gone. I know he’s fighting bigger guys now for the most part but his chin seems weak these days.

      @mbeec1@mbeec12 жыл бұрын
    • @@mbeec1 Dude what? Let's break down a couple things here: 1.) Conor's gas tank was far from perfect, but he wasn't "always in trouble" if he didn't get a finish in the opening rounds. He 30-27'd Holloway, who was solid even at the time and is known for cardio. He rallied back to win the 4th round in the Diaz rematch, won a round against Khabib that wasn't one of the opening rounds, and looked good for the beginning of the 4th round until he got taken down. And he went 30 minutes with Mayweather. He goes up to a weight class he's never competed at on short notice and gets choked out, suddenly he "always has trouble" if he's not in opening rounds anymore? 2.) He was knocked out once, and now his chin is weak. What the fuck.

I almost had tears rolling down my cheek, the underdog who came up and won the belt in an insane fight. Really emotional entrance and amazing emotional fight and aftermath. It transcends language, true greatness transcends culture, we all understand it. Charles is my hero just from the energy he brings. The songs called the Anthem by Jake Hamilton in English and it’s even more intense. Also when Rory McDonald fought Lawler his entrance was emotional for me, and that’s before that fight.

  • Ik this won't apply to most of the world but for us Australians or at the very least me, Volks walkout at 266 was so impactful. ik it wasn't very different from any of his other walkouts but for context those of us in Melbourne and Sydney had been in lockdown for about 3 months and was super depressing, just seeing him walkout and dedicating it to us back home honestly still makes me feel emotional when watching it back. It was also the night he finally earns his much due respect. so awesome.
