Before turkey hunting was cool, before smart phones, before social media, before the US Slam became a thing to do, there was a man in a van traveling the country living in a way we all can be envious of. Some of you may know Doc Weddle, or at least the legend. For those of you that know Doc, you know he’s given more to his pursuit of the wild turkey than most of us can imagine. Doc has been in inspiration to so many and we cannot thank Doc enough for letting us put his story to film.

It appears that the take home message from this is that we need to focus on our hunt and our road. The social media perspective and focus on “successful hunters” needs to stop. Doc has it figured out. Don’t toot your own horn and count kills. Drink up every one you get and enjoy your hunt. Let the social media legends be just that. This man has been sufficiently humbled by the bird, just like most of us that have some boot leather invested. You know when you arrive, because, at that point, you have a pang of remorse when you kill one. Not enough to make you quit, but it’s there. I sure hope the sport survives the resource being sold out for financial gain. In the Deep South, we are there. Wish I could ride in the truck with Doc for half a day.

This is my favorite video yall have done. Im a beginner wildlife / action photographer and it would be awesome to be able to go out with The Doc and be able to photograph his hunts.

The quality of the footage in the videos is awesome! Three Grand Slams is unbelievable! Definitely going to be doing the shell in the tree trick for a reminder and honor the hunt.
