I Bought A 'TOTALED' C6 Corvette At Copart | EASIEST Rebuild Ever!?

2022 ж. 20 Мам.
542 881 Рет қаралды

(Pt. 1/2) The next LeeC Parts challenge? Rebuild this 2008 Corvette C6 from Copart with ONLY parts we already have in stock! I've been on the hunt for a light wrecked LS3 C6 Corvette for a rare (for us) rebuild project and we finally found one!
Is it going to go as smooth as I think it is or did I overlook something?
Have a salvage Corvette rebuild story of your own? Tell us in the comments!
Stay tuned for part two coming out in just a few short days!

Don’t know you all but still don’t want you guys to get hurt. I’ve seen hydraulics fail on heavy equipment, it’s a scary thing to see. Hope the Forklift had a safety lock of some sorts on it. • Thanks for making a video like this, because these types of videos are really fun to watch. I actually like the polished wheels on the car better than the black wheels. I'd be interested to see how the car looks with a ZO6 or GS factory duck tail spoiler on it compared to the ZR1 style spoiler that's on the car. Are you going to film any of the process that is required for the state police to deem the car road worthy? Personally, I think that would be interesting. Looking forward to the next video

They just took duck tape w/ loops as making handles to grab with on one bottom end and vertically stuck onto those pieces on window. Then go across vertically w/ horizontal strips overlapping vertical pieces using handle tabs to slowly work the widow motor down low enough to then just reach in and unlock. It looked clever of course Ive never tried it or had too yet lol..

  • I rebuilt 8 totaled C5's (2 ZO6's) mostly as a hobby but made good money on all of them. My buddy Shirl Dickey did it for a living and did 28. Ten years ago, I decided to do one more to use up most of my Ebay Vette parts. It was a Torch red FRC, just what I wanted with 40K miles. Man, was it fucked up. I replaced every body part except the roof (I did that twice on the ZO6's) and the doors. The frame was beyond fixing so I cut it off at the firewall and welded a junkyard one on. All 20 dimensions in the Vette manual has were within 1/6" for the frame. I paid $3,900.00 for it and had $7,200.00 in it when finished (10 years ago). It has 60K miles on it now so at 77 it'll probably outlast me. I love that car. Well, except for the $679.00 speeding ticket I got.

  • I bought a C6 that looked identical to this in damage. Got it home and lifted and the frame was a disaster. Not just bent in a few places but the frame was "accordioned" in at least one spot. We thought about how the damage we saw could have been done and the only thing we could come up with is that it went airborn. Luckily I bought afrom a reputable guy that I have bought a few corvettes from to rebuild and this one was just one that he bought and never had a chance to look at before he left for the winter. I purchased it from him in September after he already left, picked up the following March and he had never lifted it before he even returned. He was happy to take it back once we looked under together. I was so frustrated at that point, I just went and bought a 2 owner clean title car instead! It was spring time and I just wanted to drive, not fix. Now looking for a C6 GS to rebuild if anyone has something!

  • I am an insurance appraiser and there are ways that we have to total a vehicle. I totaled a C5 it was I think a 2001, I inspected and totaled it in about 2009. The car rear ended a truck with a trailer hitch, the car had a perfect square hole in the front bumper and the trailer hitch perfectly hit the air bag sensor and caused the drivers air bag to pop, it literally needed a front bumper cover, front air bag sensors and the drivers air bag. The drivers air bag was out of production, insurance companies will not use recycled/salvage air bag/srs components and I couldn't find one, so it had to be totaled. Also some insurance policies have it written in them that your insurance company has the right to total your car if them please, this happens a lot on exotics (not corvettes) as a lot of times the parts are worth more than the car especially after depreciation.

  • You can open the hatch on a C6 with dead battery. Insert key in trunk and possibly a button to oush on exterior of trunk hatch. 90% of people dont know this about the C6

  • Sell the rims They would definitely look better either gold or Chrome or Chrome with a color inlay I personally would probably look into a small set of fender flares since you're already going to be painting anyway wouldn't take much maybe an inch and a half more Definitely wrap the wing in a black or maybe a carbon finish
